Chapter 92
# Chapter 92: Infiltrating the Silph Co. Building
Author: Samsung Charmander (Author Name)
In front of the Silph Co. Building.
After walking for over ten minutes, Ash stood outside, his eyes still burned with anger, but he had at least calmed down. He couldn't just rush in and scream for everyone to drop dead, and expect them to actually all drop dead, could he? Trying to drive the entire Rainbow Group out of Saffron City by himself was no different from a suicide mission.
At this thought, he patted his chest and slowly said:
“Brother Red, please lend me your strength this time.”
This was the only solution he could think of. It wasn't about his own adventure; he simply wanted to drive the Rainbow Group out of this city.
After a moment, Red from within his soul gave an affirmative response. He had a Soul Bond with Ash and understood the latter's current state of mind. This was no longer a normal adventure or battle. If danger arose, Red wouldn't mind taking over.
Although in his world, Red hadn't encountered any specially bullied Eevee, his Lapras—the one that had taken down Champion Lance's Ace Dragonite in one move while Lance was striking a pose—had been obtained from the Silph Co. Building. It had also been treated illegally by Team Rocket.
Red could understand this rage. That was why back then, he, along with Green and Blue (manga character), had steamrolled Team Rocket, who had taken over the Silph Co. Building. In the end, they even had a battle with Giovanni. However, the latter clearly wasn't using his full strength at the time, using only free-range Pokémon. It wasn't very difficult.
As for this world, returning to this 'dungeon,' even Red felt a sense of revisiting an old haunt. It was like a max-level top player returning to the newbie village, one-shotting the initial roosters and rabbits—a feeling of satisfaction mixed with a touch of melancholy.
Thinking of this, Red suddenly asked:
“Do you need me to release all my Pokémon to back you up? The kind that could level the Silph Co. Building in one blast.”
“That would be gr... er, no thanks.” Ash answered subconsciously, then jolted mid-sentence as his line of thought shifted.
*Is Brother Red giving me a trial? Can I still resist the temptation of extreme power even when I'm consumed by rage? Hmph, I'm still very calm.*
Red: “…”
*As expected of a Super Pallet Towner, I can never keep up with his train of thought...*
But in the end, his eyes lit up, and he replied softly, “Then go and do what you can. I’ll be right behind you. No one in this place can stop you.”
Instantly, Ash’s confidence swelled, stronger than ever before.
On the first floor of the Silph Co. Building, the man at the front desk who had just started a round of TIMI saw Ash approaching. Ignoring his teammates' curses, he once again forcefully closed the app on his phone.
“Huh, you’re back. Is there a problem with that Eevee?” he asked Ash.
Ash glanced around. There were only two people in the first-floor lobby: this front-desk man and a guard at the nearby stairwell. The latter was also looking over. Attacking directly would likely alert the enemy. A plan came to mind, and he replied with a smile:
“There’s nothing wrong with the Eevee. It’s my Pikachu; he wants to be friends with you.”
The Pikachu on his shoulder understood, leaping onto the counter. It gave a cute pose and then held out its paw.
The man: “?”
He didn’t know what was going on, but he reached out and tentatively touched Pikachu’s paw.
Nothing happened.
“Pika~”
Pikachu held out its other paw. The man, still looking completely baffled, shook the little hand.
Still nothing happened.
“Pika~”
Pikachu repeated the trick, alternating five times. On the eleventh handshake, a strange electric current finally burst from the man’s palm. His body twitched violently, and his legs went weak, causing him to collapse onto the front desk.
“Damn it! Is this the Static that the official stats say has a 30% chance of activating? Are you kidding me?! Pikachu, your Ability is so lame.” Ash cursed inwardly.
“Pika…” It scratched its head. *See? It was the Ability acting up, not me, Pikachu.*
This little performance by the boy and the Mouse successfully attracted the attention of the man guarding the stairs, who started walking over. However, since all he had seen was the now-paralyzed man playing normally with Pikachu, he wasn’t too wary.
Seeing the man approach, Ash used another old trick, performing a classic routine by secretly tossing a Pokémon Ball at his feet. Then, he feigned surprise and said:
“Hey, mister, it looks like a Ganoderma has grown here!”
“A Ganoderma?” The guard looked baffled. A Ganoderma growing inside a building in downtown Saffron City? That’s absurd. Nevertheless, his curiosity was piqued. He craned his neck over the counter to look between Ash’s legs and indeed saw a very strange-looking plant.
“Hmm? That should be... garlic, shouldn’t it?” he said tentatively.
As soon as he finished speaking, the “green Ganoderma” sprayed a cloud of dark gray gas from its center, enveloping the guard. Caught off guard, he inhaled deeply, and in the next second, his eyelids grew heavy, and he fell into a deep sleep.
“Great job, Bulbasaur! Now, use Vine Whip on these two! Bind them tight!”
“Saur!”
Bulbasaur’s Vine Whip shot out instantly, whipping through the air and wrapping the two men up like rice dumplings. They were completely and tightly bound—a classic Bind.
Step one: take out the two people on the first floor without causing a commotion, then change into their uniforms and sneak in.
Ash reached out his hands. Just as he was about to strip off their uniforms, he suddenly realized something, and his movements froze.
*It seems the Vine Whip can’t be untied... again!*
Red: “…”
*He’s actually pulling this stunt a second time?*
“Whatever.” Ash simply took the ID card from the man’s hand and hung it around his neck. Then he forcibly peeled the rainbow “R” logo off the man’s collar and stuck it onto his own shirt before turning to walk towards the elevator. He didn’t notice a camera in the corner faintly glowing, however.
Red noticed it, but he couldn’t be bothered to say anything.
Facing the buttons for forty floors in the elevator, Ash swiped the ID card and decisively pressed the highest one, the 40th floor. With a cheat code like Brother Red on his side, it would be more efficient to go straight for the boss.
“Beep.”
“Rainbow Group Junior Employee ID Card. Your clearance is limited to the 14th floor.”
The elevator emitted a slightly mocking mechanical voice, which instantly reminded Ash of his Pokedex’s voice, making him want to punch the display screen.
“Brother Red, which floor should we go to?” Ash asked, scratching his head.
“Whatever…” Red didn’t know the specifics either. The Silph Co. Building in the game also had 11 floors, and it was filled with a bunch of messy square teleporters. You’d step on one and appear on another floor. He’d teleported around in a daze for half a day and then somehow just appeared in front of Giovanni.
“Then let’s go to the highest one, the 14th floor!” Ash didn’t hesitate, pressing the button for the 14th floor.
“Beep. You have selected the 20th floor.”
Ash: “?”
The elevator suddenly spoke on its own. Then it locked, stripping Ash of control, and shot upwards, startling him so much he quickly grabbed the handrail, completely bewildered.
“Beep. You have arrived at the 20th floor.”
A moment later, the elevator doors opened. Ash cautiously poked his head out, only to find the elevator entrance already crowded with employees in Rainbow Group uniforms, who were glaring at him and cracking their knuckles.
“Beep. The elevator is about to close.”
The elevator didn’t give Ash any time to react. The back wall suddenly moved outwards from within, directly shoving him and Pikachu out. Then it closed with a *bang*, having accomplished its mysterious task.
Ash: “…”
And just like that, he was exposed, surrounded in the enemy’s lair.
“Long live Team Rocket?” he tried.
Silph Co. Building, 40th floor.
A middle-aged man with a buzz cut and a sinister expression sat at an office desk. He was dressed in an orange suit, and the cufflink was not the colorful “R” but a solid crimson-purple letter “R.” Staring at the monitor in front of him, he couldn’t help but raise the corner of his mouth in a cruel smile.
On the monitor was Ash, surrounded by the crowd.
“Take that little brat out.” He issued the order to everyone.
“Hmph, so another flea has snuck in?” He snorted coldly and looked at another screen.
On the screen was another Trainer. He had spiky hair and was walking with an arrogant swagger, his expression looking extremely cocky and provocative.
Every year around this time, some hot-blooded brats would barge into the Silph Co. Building under the banner of ridding the world of evil and upholding justice. But now, the grass on their graves was already tall enough to make a Squirtle standing on them Unable to Battle.
“Hmph, those two happen to be here as well. I’ll just leave it to them to handle.” He began operating the computer in front of him, a strangely amused and enigmatic expression in his eyes as he altered the connections between the various square teleporters in the Silph Co. Building.
After finishing, the middle-aged man stretched and then patted the subordinate behind him.
“Little Black, do you think I did the right thing?”
Standing next to him was a subordinate, dressed in a standard black Team Rocket Grunt uniform, with his hat pulled down low, obscuring his face. His expression was vacant.
“The light of righteousness shines upon the land…” Little Black flattered respectfully.
