Chapter 355: Kingler vs. Seadra! (Third Update)

2024-05-15 Author: Samsung Charmander (Author Name)

"Pokédex Beep... Kingler, the Evolved Form of Krabby. Its two giant pincers possess immense strength, but because its body has grown so large, the quality of its meat has declined. Therefore, evolving it is not recommended."

Listening to the Pokédex's introduction, Ash almost threw it directly into the water.

This was the great hero of the first victory, and *this* was what it was worried about!?

"Kingler, I'm counting on you for the second round!"

There was no time to celebrate. Ash shouted across the field. They could celebrate the evolution properly after they had won the battle and were handing out the rewards.

Kingler turned and gave Ash a gesture as if to say "no problem." It was the first time in this crab's life that it had ever felt so magnificent.

"Damn it, this country bumpkin's luck is pretty good..."

On the other side, Guangwu's expression wasn't so happy. He shot a few harsh glares at the red-shelled crab that was still brandishing its large pincers triumphantly before recalling his defeated Exeggutor.

"Hmph, just a brute!"

He immediately regained his confident and arrogant expression and threw out his second Poké Ball.

"Bang!"

A red light flashed. This time, a deep blue, seahorse-like Pokémon appeared on the water's surface. It was slightly larger than the previous Krabby, but compared to the current Kingler, it was much more petite. The roles were reversed, with the much smaller Pokémon now facing a giant.

However, its body was covered in sharp spikes, and its gaze was extremely fierce. It looked like a very ill-tempered Pokémon.

"Pokédex Beep. Seadra, the Spike Pokémon, a Water-type. It is ill-tempered, possesses a trace of draconic blood, and the spikes on its body are poisonous and should not be touched."

The Pokédex prompted.

"Poisonous spikes, huh..."

Ash put away his Pokédex. He wasn't afraid of that. Although Kingler wasn't a Steel-type, its incredibly hard exoskeleton was a shell that ordinary poison couldn't penetrate to attack the delicious crab meat within.

"The second round of the battle begins!"

Amidst a wave of cheers and the Referee's announcement, the battle began again!

As the battle started, Ash swiped his finger forward with a grand gesture.

"Let's strike first! It's our turn this time, Kingler, use Water Gun!"

"Pshh! Pshh!"

Kingler didn't hold back. Its upper and lower shells opened to reveal its mouth, and it immediately spat out a powerful pillar of water straight toward its target.

Guangwu just gave a calm instruction:

"Too slow. Seadra, use Agility!"

"Wooo!"

Seadra's eyes were fierce. Its body swayed in the water, and its speed suddenly surged. It moved constantly across the water's surface, easily dodging the incoming Water Gun.

Ash pressed on relentlessly, commanding again: "Keep using Water Gun!"

"Pshh!" "Pshh!" "Pshh!"

Kingler constantly opened and closed its mouth, spitting out one blue Water Gun after another.

But Seadra's speed was clearly superior. Its movements were erratic, its small body constantly shifting as it easily dodged several consecutive Water Guns.

"Damn it, it's like a flea..."

Ash's eyes darted around, trying to find any opportunity to break the stalemate. His gaze fell absently on the water's surface before him, and he unconsciously recalled the guidance Misty had given him before the match.

"I've got it!"

His eyes lit up. He had an idea.

Misty's guidance itself wasn't important; the idea came from thinking about Misty herself. He immediately pointed straight ahead and roared:

"Kingler, use a full-power Crabhammer on the surface of the water!"

"Kokehn!"

Having acquired two massive iron pincers after evolving, Kingler had long been eager to try this move. Ignoring the nimble Seadra in front of it, one of its large pincers was already glowing with a terrifyingly sharp white light. The surface was even faintly swirling with watery energy, emanating a powerful might.

Then, without caring where Seadra was, the glowing pincer smashed down hard onto the water's surface.

"BOOM!"

A terrifying explosion of water erupted instantly, and a wave over three meters high splashed up from the point of impact. This incredibly ferocious display made everyone involuntarily perform a tactical lean back.

Then, this terrifying, immense force spread out in ripples, kicking up a strong gust and waves across the entire pool.

"Wooo?"

The still-nimbly dancing Seadra didn't have time to react. It was caught by this arena-wide shockwave, and its body was involuntarily flung out of the water.

"Ah, I remember! It's that move!"

Sitting in the friends and family section, Misty couldn't help but pinch Brock's face.

Back when Ash had challenged the Cerulean Gym, he had relied on a Wing Attack from Pidgeotto, using sheer force to make her Starmie surface.

"Now's our chance, use Water Gun!"

"Pshh!"

Kingler lifted its mouth and fired a powerful Water Gun. This time, it hit its target dead-on. The pressure from the water stream sent Seadra flying back several meters before it finally landed back in the water with a "plop."

"Wooo..."

A few seconds later, Seadra resurfaced, a drop of sweat trickling down its forehead.

As a Water-type Pokémon, its resistance was very high, so it could temporarily withstand a single Water Gun.

"Hiss... The power of that blow is incredible..."

Guangwu, however, couldn't help but suck in a cold breath. For some reason, the thought that he might be defeated today suddenly surfaced in his mind, and he finally began to panic.

"No, how could I, Guangwu, lose to some country boy! Seadra, use your strongest Waterfall!"

He said that, but his commands were clearly in disarray. Without any setup, he directly unleashed his Seadra's most powerful move.

"WOOO!"

Seadra let out a high-pitched cry. The water in the surrounding pool began to gather and compress around its body, and the surface began to roil as if boiling.

Then, carrying this current of water, Seadra's body suddenly leaped more than a meter out of the water and shot forward like a rocket. It dragged a long column of water behind it, as if riding a giant wave, and its imposing might grew continuously, supplemented by the pulsing waves in its wake.

Waterfall!

"Don't run, take it head-on!"

Ash, however, was not flustered at all. Hearing the command, Kingler also revealed an incredibly confident expression. It turned its body sideways, fully exposing its front to the furiously approaching Waterfall.

When the Waterfall was right in front of them, the seahorse and the crab less than a meter apart, Ash's eyes lit up as if he had seen an opening. He immediately raised his hand and pointed:

"Use Crabhammer on the base of the Waterfall!"

"Kokehn!"

Kingler's two large pincers once again lit up with a sharp white light wreathed in water. Lowering their trajectory, they delivered a magnificent, sweeping blow toward the area beneath Seadra.

It had no intention of taking this hit for nothing.

"BOOM!"

The water below was instantly slapped away, splashing wildly in all directions as the water vapor exploded.

With the water at the source of the Waterfall dispersed, the power of Seadra's attack was weakened by more than half. Kingler's giant pincers, however, changed direction again. Shifting from a horizontal sweep to an upward thrust, its pincer opened and closed, striking at the Seadra in the air.

"Splash... splash..."

When the water had completely fallen, what appeared in everyone's sight was a giant crab holding its pincer high, a spiky seahorse clamped within it. The difference in their size was enormous.

"Wooo..."

Seadra struggled continuously, but the giant pincer was as immovable as steel. Even its famed poisonous spikes were completely ineffective against the hard pincer.

Ash gave his opponent no time to think, immediately issuing an order:

"That's it, use Slam!"

"BOOM!"

Kingler swung its pincer downward, smashing Seadra hard onto the floating platform in front of it. The immense strength smashed a small crater into the hard stone platform on the spot. After letting out a miserable cry, Seadra's body even bounced half a meter into the air before landing again.

Seeing that his opponent had still not been completely defeated, and knowing that this tournament was no time to show mercy, Ash's offense was like a wildfire, and he pressed his attack:

"Finish it with Stomp!"

"Kokehn!"

Kingler leaped high into the air, its body covered in solid armor falling heavily toward the Seadra that had yet to recover from the Slam.

One had to know, while Krabby's Stomp was just a single step, the current Kingler's Stomp was...

"BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!"

The terrifying Stomp instantly shattered the entire floating platform into exploding fragments, stirring up countless clouds of smoke, dust, and stone fragments, and splashing water two to three meters high.
