Chapter 768: Capturing the Lantern Entities (1)
Ganthet and Sayd stood at the forefront of the group, their expressions grim as they looked at Starscream.
"They've come after all... faster than I imagined."
"Those damned bastards, they're the root cause of the chaos engulfing this Universe! They have no idea how terrifying the Blackest Night is!!"
Sayd said in a low voice.
Ganthet said faintly, "It's incredibly terrifying for us, but perhaps in Tony's eyes, it's just another cosmic crisis... He's dealt with many cosmic crises before. Numerous ancient gods from the Sphere of the Gods have been defeated by Tony, so of course, he wouldn't take the Blackest Night seriously."
As for whether Tony knew about the prophecy of the Blackest Night... if a singular god who could suppress countless timelines couldn't even perceive something this major, he would be utterly useless...
Behind them, Saint Walker, the leader of the Blue Lantern Corps, spoke in a low voice, "We could choose to negotiate, to avoid war..."
"Impossible. You don't understand their methods. To accelerate the arrival of the Blackest Night, they will never accept peace. They would even drag the Blue Lanterns of Hope into the battlefield just to agitate the Emotional Spectrum."
Ganthet rejected it outright, his gaze fixed grimly on Starscream, and on Larfleeze, who had just flown back.
Larfleeze's eyes gleamed as he stared at the Blue Lantern Rings on the hands of Ganthet and the others. The brand-new rings brought an unconcealed expression of greed and possessiveness to Larfleeze's face.
"Let's make a deal," Larfleeze said quickly. "I won't take your Orange Lantern Ring, but you have to give me a Blue Lantern Ring. That's fair."
Starscream shot him a sidelong glance with a cold sneer.
Fair?
Fair, my ass!
Starscream thought that after the fight was over, not only should the ring on Larfleeze's hand be reclaimed, but all the Blue Lantern Rings they acquired should be reclaimed as well!
A scumbag like Larfleeze was unworthy of using a Lantern Ring.
"Starscream! State your purpose!" Ganthet demanded in a deep voice.
"Purpose? Does beating you to death count as a purpose?"
Starscream sneered and directly used the Orange Lantern Ring to create an army a thousand strong, which roared as it charged toward Ganthet and the others.
"Mine! Nine hundred of those are my soldiers!!" Larfleeze clutched his heart and wailed in agony.
Starscream kicked Larfleeze into the battlefield. Having this guy around was just exhausting.
"Stop these energy constructs! The power of hope can completely counter the emotion of avarice. We will not lose."
Ganthet commanded Saint Walker.
The Blue Lantern Corps also moved out. The Blue Light of Hope and the Orange Light of Avarice clashed violently, their gazes cold as they faced each other.
Ganthet didn't move. He watched Starscream, who was hiding in the rear enjoying the show, and fell into deep thought.
Starscream glanced back at him, a look of contempt in his eyes, before turning his attention back to the battlefield.
The battle between the Blue and Orange Lanterns signified that five corps had now joined the war.
At that moment, all the ring wielders throughout the Universe felt a sudden tightness in their chests, as if something had abruptly pressed down on their hearts. Even their souls couldn't help but tremble for an instant.
Perhaps it was an illusion, but an immense pressure appeared and vanished in an instant. The entire Prime Universe fell into an eerie silence. All life forms felt an inexplicable sense of dread, their hearts pounding as they abruptly looked up at the sky in astonishment.
In the pitch-black Universe, it was as if some all-devouring monster was awakening, sizing them up with a deathly silent gaze.
At this moment on Cybertron, Tony was sitting cross-legged on the grass, feeling this sudden pressure. It was a power that acted directly on the instinct for survival—an innate sense of awe and fear toward darkness and death.
"Only the Indigo Tribe and the Star Sapphires are left... As soon as those two join the battlefield, Nekron will awaken completely, and endless darkness will devour everything."
Tony pondered for a moment before issuing a command.
"All units, move out! At maximum speed, capture the Lantern Entities of every color, no matter the cost! I don't care how many casualties there are, but all the major Lantern Entities must be captured and brought back to Cybertron!"
Tony's voice echoed across Cybertron.
After a moment of silence, more than twenty auras of Demigod level and above flared to life. Figures vanished from where they stood, entering the vast Cosmos. Following the fluctuations of the Emotional Spectrum, they began to search for the hidden Lantern Entities.
Many slightly weaker figures immediately departed aboard interstellar warships. The Space Bridge was opened around the clock, and numerous legions also entered the Universe, tracking the Lantern Entities.
When the Lantern Rings were born, the corresponding Lantern Entities transformed from intangible to tangible, making it the perfect time to begin capturing them en masse.
Only a place like Cybertron, packed with powerhouses, would have the confidence to make a move on all the Lantern Entities simultaneously.
"We can only capture them with minimal cost during this window, before these Lantern Entities fall into the hands of their respective corps."
Ordinary Lantern Entities have limited combat power. As long as the captors themselves are powerful enough and have strong willpower, preventing them from being affected by chaotic emotions, there's a high probability they can capture a Lantern Entity.
But if a Lantern Entity merges with its corresponding Lantern wielder, they become a much more powerful being, similar to when the Parallax entity merged with Hal Jordan.
The combat power of this kind of merged monster starts at Level Seven, and a top-tier Level Seven at that.
In the original story, a Green Lantern merged with the Green Lantern Entity, Ion, and became the new Ion. He was actually able to go head-to-head with Superboy-Prime. Although the new Ion was ultimately defeated by the edgy Superboy-Prime who found his weakness, it still shows the powerful boost to combat power that the Lantern Entity and wielder combination provides.
Tony wasn't foolish enough to wait for the Lantern Entities to find hosts to their liking. Striking first was the right move.
The quiet night sky transformed into an all-devouring abyss, standing in the distance and silently looking down upon the Prime Universe.
In a world of darkness, it is also a paradise for the ambitious. As for which ambitious person will have the last laugh, or be destroyed by their own ambition, it all comes down to strength.
"It's time. First, attack Oa and seize Ion. Then, I will go see the Emotional Spectrum with my own eyes."
Tony stood up and vanished on the spot, heading for Sector 0 of the Prime Universe and arriving on Oa.
On this planet, only a few hundred Lanterns were standing guard. The vast majority had already departed for the front lines of the war. But now, they had to face an even more terrifying foe.
A terrifying pressure descended. Tony appeared before the Central Power Battery with a blank expression. The defensive measures set up by the Guardians and the Green Lantern Corps were useless against him.
The Central Power Battery was as massive as a small mountain, its green light almost blinding. Stored within was the willpower that Oa had accumulated over countless eons.
"I'll be taking this as well."
Tony reached out, hoisted the ridiculously large Central Power Battery onto his shoulder, and soared into the sky amidst a deafening roar.
