Chapter 755: Loki: I am the man who will revive Asgard
Loki, his flamboyant air completely at odds with his bruised and swollen face, arrived at the desolate planet aboard an interstellar warship.
With eyes full of wicked charm and insidious intent, he looked down contemptuously at the planet beneath his feet, casually twirling daggers in his hands. It was impossible to know what schemes were brewing in his conniving mind.
"Asgard will not go to war for you," the warrior Sif said, piloting the spaceship herself with a grim expression.
"Rest assured, I will not let Asgard be drawn into a war. The Asgardians cannot afford any more major losses."
Loki's eyes flickered as he gave the wary Sif an eerie smile. "Trust me, Sif. More than anyone, I wish to see the Asgardians rise again..."
"As long as you don't make enemies for us, that would be a huge contribution to the resurgence of our people! Right now, Thor is the only one we can count on. The rest of us, including you and me, don't really matter that much!" Sif interrupted Loki, snorting coldly.
"Isn't there also Hela?"
Loki rubbed his chin, subconsciously touching a bruise with a look of lingering fear on his face.
Sif's face darkened. "Shut up! That madwoman is wicked and devious. Instead of being Thor's sister, she's more like yours! You two are just alike!"
Loki said nothing.
At the mere mention of his so-called sister Hela, even someone as strong-willed as Loki felt a wave of bitterness.
Back then, Odin was killed by Amatsu-Mikaboshi. The vast divine power he had accumulated over thousands of years was completely devoured by Amatsu-Mikaboshi, and he unfortunately perished.
Ninety percent of the Asgardian population was wiped out in that battle, devoured by Amatsu-Mikaboshi in a single gulp like an after-dinner dessert. Along with them, the very continent of Asgard was casually destroyed.
Only Thor and Loki managed to flee to Cybertron in a sorry state, taking a few thousand survivors with them.
That wasn't the worst part. The worst part was that these few thousand survivors were almost all civilians, meaning they were not warriors and had not mastered divine power.
Among the many pantheons on Yggdrasil, even one as powerful as Asgard, not every inhabitant could master divine power; most were just strong civilians. Of course, the weakest of these civilians was roughly equivalent to a weakened Captain America, while a stronger one was in no way inferior to him. Any one of them, if dropped on Earth, would be treated as a treasured super-soldier.
Then, Thor took a risk and accepted Tony's suggestion. After injecting himself with the flesh of the Celestials, he ascended to become Celestial Thor and managed to drag Amatsu-Mikaboshi away. In the end, Thor was still defeated and returned gravely injured.
It was at that moment that Hela finally broke free from the power of Odin that sealed her and burst out of her prison.
After wandering through the universe, she eventually found the Asgardians, who were quietly trying to repopulate on a remote planet.
As Odin's daughter, a woman whose ambition and audacity were even wilder than his, Hela exploded with rage on the spot upon seeing the tragic state of Asgard.
She couldn't take it out on her dead father, so she naturally vented her rage on Thor and Loki—even though she had never met these two so-called brothers of hers, and besides, one of them was adopted...
The gravely injured Thor could just about manage to protect himself from Hela.
Loki, on the other hand, was miserable. He got beaten to a pulp!
He was beaten half to death by that old woman Hela!
He was adopted, anyway... Adopted from their mortal enemies, the Frost Giants... So, beating him to death seemed perfectly fine. She felt no psychological burden; if he died, he deserved it. These were Hela's true thoughts.
Whenever he remembered Hela's inhuman torment, Loki's face would twitch, his expression would change drastically, and the bruises and wounds covering his face would begin to ache faintly.
Before, the person he feared most was Tony from Earth. But now, Tony and his ilk had to step aside; they held no deterrent power whatsoever in front of that old woman...
But in any case, with the arrival of a so-called sister—a powerhouse with ferocious combat power, just one step away from the Skyfather level—Asgard's strength had grown a little.
Although, Thor often had to use brute force to suppress Hela, because the ambitious Hela wanted to pull her foolish brother from the God-King's throne so she could take it for herself.
During this time, Thor had been diligently teaching his so-called sister how to behave.
Having recovered from his injuries, the Level Seven Thor could suppress the quasi-Level Seven Hela easily and without pressure.
Thor beats up Hela, Hela beats up Loki, and Loki beats up Thor... Such was the current dynamic among the three most powerful individuals among the Asgardians.
It was very complicated.
It was so complicated that Loki couldn't stand it anymore and fled Asgard to search for power that could make him stronger.
Loki's mind contained the vast knowledge accumulated by the Asgardians over tens of thousands of years, so naturally, he knew a thing or two about the Emotional Spectrum. When the news of Sinestro's defeat and capture arrived, Loki felt his opportunity had come.
He felt he was worthy of a Lantern Ring. He should form a Loki Corps, one that would be far more powerful than that pathetic punk Sinestro's Sinestro Corps.
The warrior Sif was the one assigned to keep an eye on Loki. Her task was arduous: she could not let him provoke any more powerful enemies for Asgard.
"I will bring back a powerful army! Our population is still fragile. It's necessary to arm them with external power, and the Lantern Rings are the most powerful and convenient weapons!"
Loki stood up, slowly sheathing his daggers. A ruthless glint appeared in his eyes. "Sif, fly the spaceship away from here. I will search for clues alone. This group of Controllers must know something."
The branch on Oa is thriving. Even if this branch of Controllers is pathetic, they should have some research results after all these years.
"If you do anything out of line, I won't let you off," Sif said, gritting her teeth.
Loki, who excelled at stealth, disguise, and trickery, was naturally better suited for infiltration work than Sif; she would only be a burden.
Loki gave a gentle smile. "Don't worry, I am also a member of Asgard."
The spaceship took off, and Loki lay silently in wait, watching like a tiger stalking its prey.
However, all of this was seen by Starscream and Larfleeze, and they grew anxious.
A vicious light gleamed in Starscream's eyes. He had already captured Loki's face with his electronic eyes and was comparing it against his database. "Loki actually came too, damn it! The Asgardians have been laying low these past few years. Are they getting restless again?!"
Larfleeze also had a ferocious expression, glancing back and forth between Starscream and Loki as his killing intent surged. "These two, they both deserve to die! How dare they set their sights on Lord Larfleeze's treasures!"
The three individuals, their hearts brimming with immense greed, harbored treacherous thoughts and were full of malice.
All three pairs of eyes turned in unison towards the hidden building, bursting with profound greed.
