Chapter 756: Mine! Mine! Mine!
2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit
Loki was in high spirits.
Starscream was in a foul mood.
Larfleeze's mood was even fouler.
This man, who should have been the rightful wielder of the Orange Lantern Ring, a figure akin to a "child of Fate" on the eve of the Spectrum War, now had to face two powerful competitors.
And, it seemed, he was the weakest of them all...
A terrible intuition told him he was probably headed for tragedy once again.
Larfleeze's birth and upbringing were tragic. Born ugly, he was despised and beaten by his parents and brothers. Yet, he didn't even consider it abuse, believing this unjust life to be reasonable.
Later, an interstellar civilization invaded, capturing everyone, including Larfleeze, as slaves. Larfleeze painstakingly escaped, had an awakening, flipped the table, and became a glorious cosmic pirate.
If Starscream and Loki hadn't interfered, he would have obtained the Orange Lantern Ring, become a one-man army, assembled the mighty Orange Lantern Corps, and dominated anyone who stood in his way during the Spectrum War.
But now... Larfleeze had to face an increasingly cruel reality.
A vast, unseen malice washed over him, making Larfleeze shudder.
"I will succeed! Lord Larfleeze will become a great Deity!" Larfleeze was full of confidence, watching Starscream and Loki with predatory eyes.
Starscream sneered as he watched the two.
Loki gave the two hiding figures an indifferent glance. Trying to play hide-and-seek with him, the Trickster God, was child's play.
Loki ignored Larfleeze, but Starscream's unique life form made him pause, his expression changing slightly. "Is Cybertron also after this Power Ring? How do you know about the Controllers? That was many years ago."
"Ha, a lucky guess, a lucky guess..."
Starscream let out a hollow laugh, his cold gaze fixed on Loki.
Once again, Larfleeze was naturally ignored.
The three stared at each other, their eyes filled with wariness and vigilance. A vicious glint shone in their eyes, their hearts agitated, ready to kill the other two without hesitation at any moment.
Time ticked by. The three waited quietly and patiently, cautiously watching the other two. The murderous glint in their eyes flickered as they schemed how to kill the other two.
Just then, a strange emotion suddenly rose from the bottom of their hearts. An intense possessiveness erupted within them, and a crazed desire to possess all wealth began to grow.
An orange glow began to spread. The light was dim, but its range was astonishing, creeping outward, passing through the obstruction of the buildings, and enveloping Starscream and the other two.
The Orange Lantern of Avarice was born.
Attack!
The three figures, expressions fierce, rose at almost the exact same moment and charged ferociously toward the building.
Boom!
Larfleeze, shouldering an energy rifle, blasted the main gate. Starscream also raised his firearm and fired a shot behind him at Loki.
But the bullet passed right through Loki's body. Loki turned back to give Starscream a strange smile as his figure dissipated.
"A boring trick!" Starscream cursed under his breath.
Loki was long gone, probably already inside the building.
Larfleeze froze for a moment, his face changing slightly. "You bastard, you're shameless! How could you attack your own kind before we've even secured the prize?"
Starscream snorted coldly. "Idiot. If we take out the Trickster God Loki first, won't the Orange Lantern Ring be our prize to share?"
Larfleeze frowned, nodding thoughtfully. "You're right. That guy is no good. You and I are the good guys. Let's kill Loki first!"
Having reached a consensus, the two of them strode toward the building with incredible speed.
The next second, while running at full speed, their expressions turned vicious. They simultaneously raised their weapons and opened fire on each other without hesitation.
Boom!
Bang!
Rubble flew, and a huge cloud of dust rose. The two figures had nimbly dodged the moment they fired.
"Pah! I knew you were a no-good bastard!" Larfleeze's eyes were red. He pointed a trembling finger at Starscream, as if he had suffered a great betrayal.
"Hmph! I knew a scoundrel like you was up to no good!" Starscream's eyes were also red, as if he had been backstabbed by a comrade, his face filled with incredulous fury.
Killing intent flared. The two greedy scoundrels spouted scoundrelly words, roaring at each other's shamelessness while their hands moved without the slightest pause, striking to kill.
Starscream watched Larfleeze with a savage grin. With a series of clicks and clacks, a large number of weapons materialized on his body. The dense array of gun muzzles and cannon barrels aimed at Larfleeze, roaring madly amidst his ferocious laughter.
A blinding light carrying a devastating shockwave blasted toward the pale-faced Larfleeze.
A deafening explosion erupted, and Starscream took the opportunity to rush into the building. This was the secret base of the Controllers.
"Wasted five seconds..."
The moment Starscream entered the base, his Central Processor began computing at high speed, with numerous high-definition observation devices scanning all information here.
A Transformer's electronic eyes came with built-in telescope and microscope functions, their Central Processor served as a powerful computer, and they had an extensive database for reference.
"I have to find a way to kill Loki. Asgard is already crippled, so I doubt they'd dare go to war with Cybertron over him... God-King Thor will naturally be blocked by Cybertronian High Command. Killing Loki shouldn't be a big problem. That bastard is too annoying."
Starscream quickly scanned the entire area and flew swiftly down the passage toward the underground.
Inside, Starscream was the epitome of calm.
His greatest advantage over the others was his knowledge of the Orange Lantern Ring. In fact, after the Controllers and Tony, he was the third most knowledgeable person about it.
Even though the Orange Lantern Ring seemed to have just been born.
The way the Orange Lantern of Avarice was used in combat was completely different from the Green Lantern or Yellow Lantern... Even if Loki really got his hands on the Orange Lantern Ring and managed to master it, it would be almost useless.
"I just need to kill Loki," Starscream's mind calculated rapidly, analyzing the most likely methods to kill Loki.
His figure moved swiftly deeper. On the altar in the underground, several Controllers were watching the suddenly-appeared Loki with a mixture of shock and anger.
"Loki! You've trespassed into the territory of the Maltusians! Are you trying to declare war on us?!" one of the Controllers roared in fury.
Loki paid them no mind, his greedy gaze fixed on the slowly floating Lantern Ring at the center of the altar. The Power Ring floated leisurely in the air, waves of dazzling orange light spreading out, capturing the attention of everyone present.
"So this is the Orange Lantern Ring, the fourth to appear in the Prime Universe... No, if we exclude that visitor from the Alternate Universe who killed Galactus, this should be the third."
Loki's face was filled with greed, his gaze burning with desire and ambition.
As long as I get this Power Ring! It's like getting the key to connecting with the Emotional Spectrum!
With an ambition like Loki's, how could a mere Orange Lantern Ring possibly satisfy him!
"My Power Ring!"
Loki's figure instantly vanished. It was another illusion. His real self had already appeared before the Orange Lantern Ring. He reached out and snatched it.
