Chapter 299

Chapter 298: Calabash Brothers Save Grandpa

The Female Furies were a secret special forces team that Darkseid only deployed under special circumstances. Brainiac had also never crossed paths with Apokolips, so his database had no related reserves, making it naturally impossible for him to recognize Mad Harriet.

But after performing a routine scan on the woman who had been inexplicably teleported into the cage, Brainiac quickly identified her race.

"A New God."

Old Bu fell silent for a moment.

In the dead of night, why was there a New God woman in the target's room?

However, having journeyed through countless civilizations, Old Bu could be considered well-traveled and knowledgeable. Although as an Artificial Intelligence he didn't understand the emotions of many intelligent beings, he had seen much and his database was richly stored. After a brief moment of contemplation, he felt it wasn't too difficult to explain.

It was a double room to begin with, so having a woman in the room in the middle of the night was quite normal in most civilizations.

Orin Vale's surprise lasted only for a fleeting moment before he quickly began to realize what was happening around him.

The first thing he noticed was the anomaly in the spatial frequency. He tried to extend his own energy to feel it out—the swirling of the air currents, the oscillation of atoms, the irregular, seemingly normal but actually disturbed movement of the finest particles...

Someone had tampered with the space here, automatically capturing and teleporting organic beings within a designated area.

It was very subtle, but not entirely without a trace. Normally, with his considerable understanding of the Speed Force, Orin Vale's attainments in spatial matters were not poor. He should have been able to sense an anomaly of even this subtle degree. But it seemed something had insulated him from this anomaly, preventing him from detecting it at first.

Orin Vale thought for a moment, and after a quick check, he soon discovered the source of the problem.

It was the Mother Box he had brought with him this time.

The Mother Box seemed to be spontaneously counteracting the spatial interference that had enveloped the area around him. The Mother Box had detected this anomaly more keenly than Orin Vale and had automatically decided to nullify all its negative effects on him.

So, logically, someone must have been trying to use some sort of covert spatial technique to teleport him away, but the Mother Box had stopped the process.

Then, by sheer coincidence, a member of the Female Furies from Apokolips had just arrived to ambush Orin Vale, stepping right into the coverage area of the spatial teleportation. That Female Fury obviously didn't have a Mother Box on her person, so she was unfortunately caught in the crossfire and teleported to some unknown location.

Clearly, this meant that whoever was behind this spatial teleportation was definitely not on the same side as the New Gods of Apokolips. Otherwise, this would be a ridiculously comical blunder.

Orin Vale remained composed for the time being. He began to try and trace the trajectory of the spatial fluctuation, hoping to lock onto the mastermind's position.

However, before he could lock onto the mastermind, he soon discovered a shadow stealthily approaching.

This time it came from a different direction, still using a similar cloaking technique, and it was another woman. Her body was covered in wraps, giving her a risqué aesthetic that was highly recognizable, allowing him to identify her as Lashina of the Female Furies at a glance.

This Female Fury was also acting furtively, approaching Orin Vale's position with light footsteps, like a wary hunter closing in on her prey...

*Swoosh.*

Lashina was gone too.

Brainiac: "..."

The woman was stunned for a moment, then began to furiously whip the wraps in her hands, striking the surrounding cage like long whips crackling with lightning, but it was completely futile.

This kind of thing was quite popular on many of the planets he had documented.

Watching another New God from Apokolips disappear before his eyes, Orin Vale was at a loss whether to laugh or cry. Interestingly, Lashina's self-sacrifice actually accelerated his progress. This time, he paid special attention to the trace left where Lashina vanished, tracked the spatial signal, and quickly locked onto a general area.

It seemed the mastermind was outside Almerac's atmosphere, but not far, probably somewhere in near-Earth orbit. He just needed a little more time to narrow down the range.

It was at this moment that he noticed another shadow emerging from the nearby darkness.

This time it was a burly fellow with a sturdy build and the aura of a lion. Although he used the same technology to hide in the shadow, his movements were boorish, completely lacking the finesse of an infiltrator, and he made no effort to disguise or conceal his aura in the slightest.

It was Darkseid's foolish son, Kalibak, whom Orin Vale had met once before.

Orin Vale was amused.

*Seriously, what is up with this group of New Gods from Apokolips today? Is this Calabash Brothers Save Grandpa? Are they being delivered in bulk?*

Then, unsurprisingly, with a *swoosh*, Kalibak was gone too.

The three brutes from Apokolips had been sent off without even looking back. The only one responsible for thinking, Desaad, was situated at the rear and was aghast when he discovered the situation.

What kind of strategy was this?

Three New Gods, gone just like that?

Could it be that this Warrior of Light had discovered their operation and laid some kind of trap to lure them in?

What a sinister Warrior of Light!

That Ultraman was already nearly invincible in a direct confrontation; now that he was setting traps, there was no way to fight him. At this moment, the seemingly ordinary room instantly transformed into an eerie restricted zone in Desaad's eyes, and the New God's heart immediately filled with the urge to retreat.

But on this trip, he had brought two Female Furies and one of Darkseid's foolish sons. In the end, they hadn't even had a proper exchange with the target, all of them sacrificed without making a single splash.

If Darkseid found out about this when he returned, wouldn't he, Desaad, be annihilated by the Omega effect once again?

Desaad was caught in a dilemma, for a moment daring neither to advance nor to retreat. After some thought, he gritted his teeth and decided to observe a little longer.

No matter what, he had to at least figure out where his vanished teammates had gone. At least then he would have something to report when he got back.

So he turned to a Parademon behind him.

"You, go and investigate the situation."

It was a well-known fact that Parademons were expendable. The Parademon received its orders, likewise faded into the shadow, and scurried over stealthily.

Then with a *swoosh*, the Parademon was gone too.

When he saw Kalibak, roaring in rage like an ape-man, appear in Cage number three, Brainiac was even more bewildered.

After a moment of silence, he turned back to check his database again.

The search results indicated that a combination of two women and one brute was still quite normal.

He even found a popular phrase on Earth's Internet.

"Only sissies play with women; real men should be fighting Thanos."

Further searches revealed that this "Thanos" seemed to be a fictional brute from some comics, probably similar to Kalibak.

*Hmm, it still seems quite normal.*

As an AI, Old Bu had never understood why many creatures enjoyed such perverted games, but he didn't care. All he was wondering now was why this group of New Gods kept popping out one after another, while the one he was actually looking for refused to show his head.

Just as he was pondering this, he heard another *swoosh* from Cage number four.

This time, a Parademon popped out.

Brainiac: "..."
