Chapter 298

Chapter 297: Who Are You?

Unknown Location.

"The Light-Wielder has come to this planet," a gloomy voice sounded.

The stark hall was filled with an ancient air, as if time itself were frozen within this structure, a remnant from a forgotten age. But its creators were long gone; the place had now become a stronghold for invaders.

Gods from Apokolips.

The one speaking was one of the New Gods of Apokolips, Darkseid's most capable tactician, Desaad.

"He's looking for us, and I have no doubt he has the ability to find us," Desaad said sinisterly. "This is an unforeseen situation. There were no prior indications that the Light-Wielder from Earth would find his way here..."

"What difference does it make?"

The response came in a muffled voice. It was Darkseid's son, Kalibak, a New God who was more adept at using his muscles than his brain. Although his physical constitution was among the best of the New Gods, no one envied him, for everyone knew it had been acquired by sacrificing his intelligence.

"You faced him once, Kalibak, on Earth, remember?" Desaad glanced at him. "The outcome wasn't very good. If the Trickster hadn't been there to draw fire for you—with his life—and if I hadn't opened the Boom Tube so promptly... you probably wouldn't be here discussing this with me now."

Kalibak shook his head.

"So what? I lost once, but that doesn't mean I'll lose a second time. Maybe I just didn't hit hard enough last time."

As he spoke, he waved the large club in his hand, baring his teeth to display his ferocity.

Desaad stared at him wordlessly for a few seconds.

"You really don't have a brain, do you?"

"I don't. So what?" Kalibak admitted frankly. "Father always says so."

Desaad: "..."

He was suddenly rendered speechless.

What could he say? At least the man had clear self-awareness.

At that moment, a woman's voice sounded from the side.

"I still find it hard to believe that you claim he actually defeated the great Darkseid... even if only temporarily."

It was a woman with a figure that left a lasting impression with just a single glance—that deep cleavage, that impressive rear, were quite outstanding, at least by human standards.

But her entire body was wrapped in layers of bandages, and even her face was covered, revealing only her eyes and red lips. The bandages gave her more prominent areas a hazy, tantalizing beauty. Those familiar with her knew they were a deadly weapon; those who weren't might mistake her attire for some kind of special room service package.

Lashina, also a powerful member of the New Gods, was part of Darkseid's renowned special forces unit,
