Chapter 226

Chapter 222: Everything Can Become Light

Parallax was beginning to realize the severity of its mistake.

When it first emerged from the Boom Tube, it had made the crucial decision that it "could fight, but there was no need." At a glance, it had dismissed its opponent as a mere Blue Lantern, a rare sight in the universe these days, but nothing special.

This was also why it became enraged after being intercepted and confidently confronted him.

As the saying goes, arguing about counters without considering power levels is pointless, and Parallax thought the same. The Blue Lantern's light might be its spectral counter, but that meant little against a vast disparity in power.

And in fact, that was true. Aside from a few absurdly powerful Lanterns like Hal Jordan, the energy a single Power Ring could contain was a far cry from that of an Emotional Entity. Only such overpowered individuals had a record of soloing an entity; otherwise, a hundred other Lanterns bundled together would be nothing but cannon fodder.

But now, Parallax discovered it was wrong.

This glowing giant before it—whatever it was—was clearly no mere Lantern. This wasn't just a matter of having a type advantage; after a few rounds of exchanging blows, it could feel that the opponent's immense energy was seemingly not inferior to its own.

This was why the absurd thought that the Blue Lantern Corps had birthed a new entity had briefly crossed its mind. But the idea was dismissed in the next instant.

Because although this being was powerful, it could clearly sense that, compared to the true Blue Lantern entity, Adara, the energy this giant wielded was not purely from the Emotional Spectrum.

It only sensed a portion of blue light energy from the Emotional Spectrum, while the rest, a far greater portion, belonged to an energy system it had never seen or even comprehended. It was equally powerful, dangerous...

...and, just like the Blue Light, it felt like a perfect, natural counter to its own existence.

This fact alone was astonishing enough.

It was *Parallax*, one of the emotional entities of the Emotional Spectrum, a being older than the Guardians themselves!

How could there be a being of this level in the entire universe that it had never even heard of?

Parallax's heavy fall once again kicked up a sky-high cloud of dust, the commotion making it seem as if the planet was about to be pierced through. Its tattered body, torn apart by the beam, was rapidly regenerating amidst the churning fog and energy, constantly restoring its energy-based form.

Orin Vale could tell with a single glance. From a certain perspective, the emotional entity was somewhat similar to him.

Emotional entities are the embodiments of the Emotional Spectrum, essentially products of pure energy. Parallax's entire body was constructed from Yellow Lantern energy, a living, walking embodiment of that energy.

That was why even such severe physical damage could be restored in an instant.

But what about a pulverizing injury?

Orin Vale wasn't sure, but he felt it was worth a try.

A ten-thousand-meter fall. Almost at the same instant Parallax felt the ground shatter like glass against its back, the silver fist had already caught up.

The punch descended from the sky like a cannonball, blasting the already dazed Parallax far into the distance.

Energy and mist were still working hard to repair it. As the entity got up, it looked in disbelief at the giant wreathed in brilliant light.

In the same instant, a series of light rings shot out like a chain of donuts, only forged from pure energy. The rings stacked one after another, trapping the emotional entity in the center and binding it.

This was a variation of Original Ultraman's "Capture Ring" technique, a simple control skill that uses circular locks of light to bind an enemy. However, Orin Vale had intentionally infused the rings with Blue Lantern energy to enhance their binding power against Parallax.

As expected, Parallax, whose body was still regenerating after being continuously beaten, was in no state to break free. It was bound in place by the locks of light, and two attempts to ram its way out were fruitless. Its massive, dark-yellow body flickered violently, and though the churning mist erupted again and again, it could not break free of the rings.

"What... are... you!?"

The emotional entity asked with difficulty.

At this moment, Ultraman's arms began to glow with an azure radiance. Electric currents swirled around him, and the high temperature refracted the light, distorting space and making his entire figure seem to waver. Energy radiated from him in waves, like a volcano about to erupt.

He brought his arms together in a cross formation, and a magnificent radiance erupted. Like a blue dragon, the beam tore through the starry sky. The airflow was ripped apart by the overwhelming energy, and the ground, from hundreds of meters below, was blasted with cracks that extended forward, following the beam's path.

Giga Spacium Ray!

Although it had a fancy new name, it was essentially just a Spacium Ray. First used by the Original Ultraman, it was a high-power output mode used while empowered by the Land of Light's energy core, the Plasma Spark Tower, possessing explosive destructive power far beyond the norm.

Although this skill required a solid foundation and mastery of the Spacium Ray to be used freely, it wasn't really a new skill. The fundamental condition was to have enough energy and sufficient power.

Just like Orin Vale.

So, while it was an unconventional skill belonging to an empowered form, for the current Orin Vale, it was practically a standard finishing move.

As for the standard Spacium Ray, he could now use it as casually as a minor skill.

Space began to tremble under the impact of the energy. Wherever the light shone, the planet's surface seemed to boil. A massive, continuous explosion occurred. The empty mountain peaks were pulverized and evaporated as the path of light advanced. The reddish-brown earth was torn to fragments, as if a god were recklessly splashing ink across the desolate canvas of the planet.

Seeing that terrifying energy output, feeling that boiling lightning and the majestic power of hope within it, Parallax momentarily forgot to even struggle.

No, it wasn't that it forgot.

In the face of such a scene, such a display of power, what was the point of struggling?

In its final moments, its only remaining thought was hatred.

Its resentful gaze, brimming with rage and indignation, turned toward Cyborg Superman, the ally who had made a pact with it.

What a fucking idiot teammate!

He kept saying Earth was just a third-rate civilization, a tiny place he could crush in his sleep, that it would be a piece of cake with no pressure whatsoever.

This is what you call a piece of cake? Then why don't you fucking lift a finger and show me?

And this thing, a giant using the power of Blue Light, you didn't think to mention something so fucking important?

I'm the goddamn fear entity, and you call me out to fight this thing?

So you're the grandmaster of reverse attribute counters?

I'll fucking...

The torrent of curses it had for its teammate's entire family would now go unsaid.

Because Parallax... became light.
