Chapter 35: My Secret
Tony was very resistant to this teaching business. He himself hadn't even finished university, so how could he be enthusiastic about teaching these brats?
But he was still pushed into the classroom.
Nearly a hundred students, plus a crowd standing to listen and watch the show, made the entire classroom extremely crowded.
A bead of cold sweat trickled down Tony's forehead. He had been ordered to impart knowledge about things these sheltered 'flowers' had never encountered. After much thought, he realized the only thing he could teach them was his recent combat experiences.
This 'halfway-monk' teacher was clearly nervous; everyone could see it. Jean and Ororo were secretly watching, gleefully ready to enjoy the show.
Some smart students felt they should proactively help their mentor ease his worries. They wanted to alleviate the awkward atmosphere, so someone raised their hand and actively questioned Tony.
"Teacher, do you have a girlfriend?"
*Stab!*
Countless sharp swords pierced Tony's heart. It was too cutting; what the hell was this? Tony utterly detested these brats; they were truly impossible to communicate with.
Tony looked at the questioner; it was Kitty. He replied with a dark expression, "Underage girls shouldn't ask adult questions."
"I'll be an adult soon," Kitty retorted, pressing on aggressively. "Have you ever been in a relationship?"
*Stab!*
"Could it be that no one has ever liked you? I've already dated three people!" Another student stood up to boast, eager to stir up trouble.
*Stab!*
These brats are truly annoying!
Jean couldn't bear to watch any longer. She cleared her throat and stepped forward to break the ice, softly suggested that Tony talk about his experiences and abilities.
Tony suppressed the urge to hit someone, pulling out a mobile phone. Under everyone's gaze, he controlled it, transforming it into a small Transformer that bared its teeth at the brats, constantly provoking them.
They finally fell silent, staring wide-eyed at this illogical scene. Instantly, a quiet atmosphere descended. But soon, the scene erupted, with many people scrambling to their feet to ask questions.
"Is this Artificial Intelligence? Like Tony Stark's? What are your thoughts on the three major theories of Artificial Intelligence: logicism, connectionism, and behaviorism?"
"Tony, could you explain your views on De Vries's Mutation Theory? Do you think it has any relation to your abilities?"
"Is this why you can't get a girlfriend?"
Tony was furious. He roared, almost wanting to flip the table and leave. What was all this? What were these young people talking about all day? What Dove chocolate, what theories — where did all this even come from, and how did it even link back to him being single?!
Did my being single flirt with your girls?!
Jean truly couldn't stand it anymore. She stepped onto the stage and announced that Tony would share some of his unusual experiences next, barely managing to suppress the overly curious bunch.
Tony gritted his teeth, displayed his abilities, and slowly recounted to the brats the crisis he faced during his Awakening.
"They call me the 'Mechanist Awakened in Crisis,' which is actually very fitting," Tony confessed. The day he Awakened, he lost everything. He never imagined such a thing could happen.
"From that day on, I became utterly alone, constantly treading the line between life and death. I'm different from you all. You Awakened your abilities, but at least you can safely live at Xavier's School, with people protecting you. I had no one. I've always been fighting for my life, right up until now..."
Tony slowly narrated his experiences. To these hothouse flowers, it was an unheard-of new realm, as if a strong smell of blood assailed them. This was also Tony's intention; he had no high-end knowledge or grand principles to teach them. He could only use his personal experiences to tell them never to be too naive.
Some teachers listening outside frowned, somewhat worried. This was completely different from their teaching philosophy. Listening to Tony's words, one could almost picture the scattered corpses. Was it really okay to talk about such things with a group of inexperienced youngsters?
Jean even stood up, intending to stop Tony from continuing.
The students gradually quieted down, their hearts heavy. They had never known that the outside world was so cruel. What had that young man, standing at the front, smiling and appearing so approachable, truly experienced? With such a tragic past, how could he calmly tell them all this? Anyone else would have long since broken down, so why could he still smile?
John was extremely fervent. He admired Tony and yearned for such an exciting life, so he was the first to stand up and ask, "Can you teach us how we should fight?"
Ororo listened, her brows furrowed tightly.
"Even if you don't ask, I'll tell you voluntarily." He conveyed his secret to the students: "My fighting method is very simple and very practical."
Many students grew serious, listening intently. Some even took out notebooks, ready to jot things down. These were words of experience, coming from a fierce warrior who had repeatedly brushed with death.
"My secret is simple: just fight haphazardly, roll up your sleeves and get to it. If you win, you adopt young models; if you lose, you go work in the sea." Tony was very earnest.
Ororo could tolerate it no longer. She charged in and delivered a heavy punch to his head, knocking Tony down with a loud bang.
Jean immediately announced to the students that Teacher Tony was temporarily indisposed, and the class would be changed to self-study.
Everyone was stunned, whispering amongst themselves.
Some were discussing, and suddenly felt it made a lot of sense.
"That's right, aren't we Mutants just fighting with our innate abilities? Just fighting haphazardly. If you win, you reach the peak of life; if you lose, you're utterly defeated. So that adopting..."
Mid-sentence, Pyro was tackled by a group of young girls around him and beaten unconscious.
The young girls immediately announced that Pyro John was temporarily indisposed and could not participate in the self-study session.
...
Tony stayed at Xavier's School for a few more days. Professor X and the others never brought up the topic of teaching again. Every time Tony tried to volunteer to teach, he would be firmly stopped and earnestly persuaded not to "corrupt" the lovely students anymore, which left Tony feeling very indignant.
How did he corrupt them? These were heartfelt words of experience!
During this period, Tony gathered some old, unused vehicles from Xavier's School. Piecing them together with the two broken vehicles he originally brought, he assembled a total of three new Transformers. Adding Optimus Prime and Arcee, the motorcycle he had never used, his Combat Power for assaults had reached five. This didn't even count the pile of electronic equipment he had on him, armed to the teeth.
Whenever needed, Tony could assemble a small combat unit at any time.
Tony's brain trauma had further alleviated; otherwise, he wouldn't have had the ability to assemble and upgrade better Transformers.
His marksmanship improved rapidly. The Allspark enhanced his neural reflexes, making firearms the quickest skill for him to master. His close-quarters combat abilities, under Ororo's utterly brutal "training," also advanced by leaps and bounds.
He knew it was time to leave. He couldn't hide in Xavier's School and accept Professor X's protection for his entire life.
