Chapter 259

Chapter 254: The Furious Reverse-Flash

Earth was already in a state of turmoil. Countless people fell into a panic, and some Cultists took the opportunity to jump out and bewitch the populace.

"This is the Lord expressing His dissatisfaction with humanity. Only by cleansing sin can we receive the Lord's forgiveness."

"It's the end of the world! The government is hiding the news. They've secretly built a Doomsday Ark, and we're all just being left to die..."

In the face of such a planet-destroying event, humanity was truly fragile. Some civilians, in their panic, even believed these absurd statements, unhesitatingly contributing their entire fortunes.

But some people in high positions thought much deeper, and they were far more shocked than anyone else.

"Dispatch all forces and execute all criminals on sight!" The Global Security Council issued the order, its members watching the images in the sky with cold sweat, where countless terrifying torrents of magic created the impression of world-ending destruction.

The leaders of the East and West, who had received the news long ago, exchanged a glance before issuing orders that had been prepared in advance.

"Immediately mobilize all available vehicles and weapons."

According to what Tony had secretly told them before, a monster bent on destroying Earth had been watching with predatory intent. At this moment, that claim was confirmed.

The ever-expanding rift in the sky was no joke. As long as one wasn't blind, they could guess it was a spatial rift, even just by using their imagination.

They had no choice but to believe, and no choice but to provide support.

Just as Tony had said before, the enemy was numerous, supported by an entire world. But they weren't lacking either; if push came to shove, they too could provide massive support.

Any major country had hundreds of millions of vehicles and machines. At the very least, there would be no shortage of cannon fodder.

"Dr. Harrison, the bombardment of space by the energy particles is constantly intensifying. If this continues, space might really shatter, letting the things from the other world in..."

In S.T.A.R. Labs in Central City, a short young man was reporting data, his head beaded with sweat. He hurriedly operated the computer, and a massive amount of data flashed across the screen every second.

"Move Barry Allen immediately. We can't leave him behind." Dr. Harrison was a disabled middle-aged man. He sat in his wheelchair, and behind his glasses, a momentary, twisted expression flashed across his thin but sharp features.

He turned his head to look at the motionless Barry Allen lying on the hospital bed, his eyes betraying a mix of hatred and helplessness.

He, the Reverse-Flash, had traveled back from the future to the present in an attempt to kill The Flash before he could mature. But for various reasons, he had lost all of his Speed Force, losing his super speed and even the ability to time travel. He could only bite the bullet, kill the real Dr. Harrison Wells, and take on Harrison's identity to cultivate Barry.

For the Reverse-Flash, this was immense torture and humiliation.

He had gone through all this trouble to come back and kill someone! To kill the young Flash! But now he had to become The Flash's life mentor, patiently teaching Barry Allen so that after he became The Flash, it would be convenient for him to steal the Speed Force from Barry's body and return home...

The depth of this enmity was too great.

To him, this era was a terrifying wasteland, with its outdated technology, obsolete values, and the "ghosts" surrounding him who, in his eyes, had been dead for centuries...

This was just too terrifying.

The more he thought about it, the angrier this "Dr. Harrison" became.

When he was alone with the comatose Barry, he had been overcome with killing intent more than once, even coming close to acting on it. But out of rationality, he had managed to hold back.

Killing Barry, who was in the middle of a nine-month transformation, would be simple. But what would happen after he killed him? Who would provide him with the Speed Force to go home? He was, after all, just a thief who had figured out how to steal the Speed Force, not a Speedster favored by the Speed Force itself.

He was the famous Reverse-Flash, a thief who stole the Speed Force for his own use.

When other Speedsters gained the Speed Force, every time they ran, they were in turn recharging the Speed Force Wall. Only the Reverse-Flash was different. He was a complete genius, but also a thief. In his hands, the Speed Force was a consumable; every bit used was a bit gone, unless he could find a new source of Speed Force to slowly steal and store.

But in this damned era, besides Barry, were there any other Speedsters?

"Cisco, move now. You carry Barry and hide in the basement," Dr. Harrison commanded.

Cisco was short, and carrying the tall Barry was clearly a struggle for him. As he staggered along, he muttered, "Hey, buddy, they say you're supposed to be waking up in the next two months. You've been sleeping for a really long time after that Particle Accelerator zapped you. When you wake up, you have to treat me to a meal. I saved you again..."

After Dr. Harrison turned his back, out of the sight of Cisco and the other assistants, his face became so dark and grim it looked as if you could wring water from it, revealing a ferocious and violent expression.

"Damn it, is this the price for messing with the timeline... Ancient One and the others are actually trying to encircle and destroy Dormammu, and then there's that Tony, who doesn't even exist in my time..." Dr. Harrison's face was full of hostility, his mood at rock bottom.

He came from the future, and because of that, he knew just how terrifying Earth was during this period. Although he had tried to keep a low profile after disguising himself as Harrison, it seemed he had still caused some damage to the timeline.

For example, the non-existent Tony. He had searched all of history with the artificial intelligence he brought with him and found not a single record of this guy named Tony.

"I can't wait any longer. Who knows what other terrifying person will pop up? The timeline is a complete mess..." Harrison glanced coldly at the projection in the sky through the window. The fierce battle between Ancient One, Shazam, and Dormammu was heart-stopping to watch.

"After Barry awakens, I'll immediately teach him to master the Speed Force, then find a way to kill him and return to my time!"

***

"Kaecilius! You shameless traitor!"

In the Dark Dimension, the Sorcerers of Kamar-Taj's eyes were red with rage as they charged desperately toward Kaecilius.

In a hellish place like the Dark Dimension, they couldn't use the most destructive Mirror Dimension magic. If Mordo, Wong, and the others got close, they would only need a little time to beat Kaecilius to death.

Unfortunately, this was a battlefield, and Kaecilius himself wasn't stupid enough to fight Mordo and the others to the death.

The Sorcerers from Kamar-Taj had a simple and brutish fighting style. Despite being Sorcerers, each of them possessed the heart of a Berserker. They would grab their weapons and charge into melee combat, with magic serving more as a support...

"Diana, can you find a way to kill Kaecilius?" Tony asked in a low voice.

Diana raised her head, looked in Kaecilius's direction, and said, "It's not impossible, but there are too many of them. By the time I charge over there, that Kaecilius will have already run away."

"You'll have Magik, who is also at the demigod level, to assist you. I don't need you to actually kill him; just clear a path and attract his attention. That guy is very cunning; he can't be killed by normal means..."
