Chapter 217: Disaster
Tony could use Portal Magic skillfully, but no matter how proficient he was, there was still a time lag between opening and closing a Portal. To open a Portal large enough for one person to pass through took more than a second. To close even the smallest Portal required a buffer of a few tenths of a second. He was not the Sorcerer Supreme; he was, after all, just a novice sorcerer who had only recently begun learning magic.
Trying to simply dismember the Hulk with a Portal Spell wasn't impossible, but it was very difficult. The sense of imminent death would always cause this beast, Hulk, to erupt with a formidable power, knocking away any Transformer blocking him and escaping the spell's range in an instant. A beast-like intuition was always miraculously effective when facing a fatal threat.
The colossal monster, Predaking, once again charged savagely at the Hulk. Its ferocious form, not even bothering to dodge, incidentally swept away numerous ordinary Transformers along its path. Even one of the Dinosaurs was caught in Predaking's rampage, violently knocked to the ground and trampled underfoot.
Tony had granted Predaking the most basic intelligence and, more importantly, restored his savage and tyrannical nature. With only Tony and slaughter in his eyes, the ferocity and madness Predaking unleashed after Tony completely removed his restraints made the hearts of many careful observers pound with fear.
No one knew how many more Transformers similar to, or even more powerful than, Predaking Tony had at his disposal.
"Hulk! Smash you!"
Having endured the baptism of high-compression flames, Hulk looked a bit battered. He was still very young, not yet having grown to a truly terrifying level where he could ignore the searing heat.
His charred skin quickly sloughed off, revealing what seemed to be perfectly intact green skin beneath. Upon closer inspection, the skin had even become more vibrant and bright.
That guy, Hulk, had gotten stronger again.
From initially being barely able to defeat Grimlock, to being able to tear through Type II Metal, and now to treating countless Transformers like toys and going head-to-head with Predaking—he was even slowly but surely gaining the upper hand.
The process was both subtle and obvious, causing onlookers to frown deeply.
Hulk's potential, growing stronger the more he fought, was a nightmare for the vast majority of his enemies. It was precisely because of this that so many interested parties coveted him.
This included not only government forces but also the attention of superhumans.
Tony, clad in his somewhat bulky and comical Supreme Divine Armor, stood silently amidst his million-strong legion. No one knew what he was thinking, or perhaps, what he was waiting for.
In the sky, a large number of fighter jets and attack helicopters were launching missiles at Hulk, though it was mostly useless—better than nothing, one might say.
A nuclear bomb launched from the American continent, crossed half of Earth, and precisely targeted the battlefield.
The sound of it tearing through the air created a nearly visible sonic boom. Before this nuclear bomb, the sky itself seemed to be split in two.
Tony abruptly looked up, his eyes fixed on the whistling nuclear bomb, a contemptuous smile gracing his lips.
The thick sense of mockery could pierce the atmosphere right through his Supreme Divine Armor.
"Just figured out you should use a nuclear bomb? Too late," Tony said, shaking his head and returning his attention to the Hulk.
A thing like a nuclear bomb, regardless of its yield, could no longer pose a threat to his current self—assuming, of course, that he countered it with superpower or magic, rather than foolishly trying to withstand it with his physical body.
He had thought some people would be smarter, but unfortunately, whether they were truly foolish or just playing dumb, they had launched the nuclear bomb anyway.
Using a high-yield nuclear bomb to wipe out the million-strong legion wasn't a wrong idea, logically speaking. But unfortunately for them, Tony held too many trump cards.
Numerous fighter jets and attack helicopters charged head-on toward the nuclear bomb. Under Tony's control, a multitude of highly futuristic mechanical arms extended from these mechs, deftly catching the warhead, which possessed immense kinetic energy.
The immense kinetic energy couldn't be countered by a single Transformer, so Tony directly controlled several hundred Transformers to fly up and intercept it, bringing the nuclear bomb to a dead stop in mid-air.
The flaming warhead trembled continuously in the air, but it couldn't break free from Tony's control. Just as it was about to detonate, Tony slowly extended his hand and opened a Portal.
Under the satellite-monitored gaze of countless people, Tony opened a massive Portal with a savage expression on his face!
"Magic? He can use magic too?!" someone screamed aloud, their expression one of utter terror.
What they feared most was this mysterious teleportation magic!
They weren't afraid of mutants who could perform spatial teleportation, because a mutant couldn't transport an exploding nuclear bomb. But a sorcerer could! A sorcerer could teleport the energy of the explosion directly into a major city!
Before his official brawl with the Hulk, Tony's use of magic to transport the Dinobots had not been monitored. His use of small Portals to slice at the Hulk had also gone unnoticed due to their small size.
This time, he made no attempt to conceal it. Before the eyes of the world's leaders, he made a deranged display of power.
He tilted his head back, looked at the sky, and revealed a savage and mocking smile.
The nuclear warhead slowly vanished from view, and in the next second, it appeared beside S.H.I.E.L.D.'s headquarters—the Helicarrier.
A nuclear warhead abruptly materialized next to the Helicarrier, hidden somewhere in Earth's atmosphere. As countless people watched in horror, it was as if the world had lost all sound, falling into a state of absolute silence.
"What is that thing? Some kind of sparkling trick?"
At an altitude of ten thousand meters, an Agent on the Helicarrier stared blankly out the window at the slowly disappearing Portal and asked in confusion.
The next second, the nuclear bomb detonated.
BOOM!!!
A giant mushroom cloud soared into the sky!
In that instant, the temperature at the epicenter reached tens of millions of degrees. The heat released by the nuclear bomb caused the air to expand rapidly, forming a terrifying shockwave!
The Helicarrier, the glorious symbol of S.H.I.E.L.D., a hundred-billion-dollar masterpiece and the pinnacle of human technology to date, was devoured by the terrifying energy in a single second. Both the vessel itself and the humans inside were instantly vaporized, completely erased from the world.
The violent shockwave roared outwards in all directions. The vast ocean below was also affected, as if an immense energy was pressing down upon it. Directly beneath the center of the explosion, the ocean surface abruptly sank, as though a void that swallowed seawater had appeared.
Soon after came an astonishing backlash. The seawater erupted violently upwards, forming a jaw-dropping, monstrous wave!
A terrible tsunami, coupled with a deep-sea earthquake, erupted one after another, roaring towards the land!
This was a disaster, a horrific man-made disaster!
