Chapter 171

Chapter 169: A Visitor from Kamar-Taj

2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit

Tony and Electro, Max, walked down the street. Max consciously stayed half a step behind Tony, following him closely as they brushed past the numerous pedestrians. Max’s peculiar appearance drew the attention of many people, who took out their phones to take pictures and post them online.

In Tony’s mind, there was no such thing as stupid taboos. If he wanted to take a stroll down the street, he would just bring Max along, completely disregarding any unwritten rules.
“Who said Metahumans couldn't go shopping? Who said Mutants couldn't go shopping? Who made that rule?”

“Well done, Max. Your control of your powers has become more skillful,” Tony praised.

Ever since Harry Osborn took control of Oscorp, he had faced tremendous opposition, led by the interim CEO who had temporarily taken over after Norman Osborn fell ill. He had fiercely opposed handing the company over to an inexperienced brat and had even begun scheming to kick Harry Osborn out.

Tony cut the problem off at the source, directly dragging that old geezer, his little clique, and the head of the Power Department into the mud and throwing them into prison. If anyone truly investigated, no one's hands were clean; it was all a complete mess.

Max simply transformed into an electrical current and killed the entire group. Their bio-electric fields were completely destroyed by Max, causing their life signatures to collapse.

A smile appeared on Max’s face as he said humbly, “Thank you, sir. My powers can still improve. I can do even better.”

Tony smiled, showed him a contract for a moment, and then promptly tore it up. It was a statement personally signed by Harry Osborn, naming Max as the inventor of the power grid.

This thing was actually useless. Tony didn't lack money; he would give Max more than he could ever spend. Besides, Max was completely loyal to him and had almost no need for food, drink, or sleep.

Revenge had been served. As for the power grid, knowing it was back in their hands was enough.

In any case, once that guy Tony Stark’s cold fusion reactor was released, Oscorp's prized energy sector would suffer a devastating blow.

Looking at Oscorp, it was nothing short of a massive tragedy. They dabbled in biology and frequently had major accidents. They tried clean energy, only to be crushed by the genius Tony Stark. To deal with the aggressive Stark Industries, they would later team up with Doctor Octopus to research thermonuclear fusion, only for it to go out of control, resulting in the deaths of many high-level executives.

Shaking his head to clear the useless thoughts from his mind, Tony suddenly stopped in his tracks. He turned to look at Max and said gently, “Max, we have a guest.”

A flash of killing intent crossed Max’s azure pupils. In his vision, the bio-electric fields of countless people were incredibly weak, but among them, a figure with an extremely vibrant electric field had appeared. Furthermore, something mysterious was interfering with his sight.

A strange man was following Tony. This person was dressed in a vintage robe, drawing many stares. He wore his hair in a ponytail, and not only were his eye sockets deeply sunken, but there was also an unknown, eerie substance around his eyes.

Tony’s brow furrowed slightly. His senses were growing sharper by the day, and the person under the robe gave him a sense of danger. Moreover, based on the man's peculiar attire, Tony had already guessed his identity.

Kamar-Taj. This strange man was a Sorcerer from Kamar-Taj. To invite him, warn him, or eliminate him—the visitor’s purpose could be nothing more than one of these three.

Max’s face was filled with killing intent. The electric light in his eyes flared, and his slightly raised hands began to glow brightly, ready to start a fight right there in the bustling city. He didn't care about ordinary human casualties; he couldn't help but act against anyone who posed a threat to Tony and the other members of his family.

The downtown area was filled with electrical currents, making it Max’s home turf.

Tony calmly turned around with Max. He had originally planned to head to a less crowded place, but after a moment of thought, he started walking directly toward his own home, where he had painstakingly secured enough space.

The strange man followed Tony and waved his arm gently. The ordinary people around them seemed to go blind, becoming completely oblivious to Tony and the other two. As they came and went, not a single gaze fell upon them.

An illogical phenomenon.

“What kind of magic is this? It’s a bit like Professor X’s psychic abilities,” Tony raised his eyebrows, stopping to look at the man.

The strange man pulled back his hood, revealing a rather handsome face. His sharp, sword-like eyebrows were perfectly straight, and his slightly narrow eyes glinted with ambition.

“It’s just a trivial little trick, Tony,” Kaecilius said as he slowly walked toward him.

Max sneered and swung his arms, unleashing a violent blast of electricity. The ultra-high voltage was enough to materialize the free electrons in the air, pulling at things unseen by the naked eye and causing the entire area of air to churn. An unpleasant burning smell and a piercing hum filled the air.

The thick, blue current morphed into a wildly ferocious giant beast of electricity, roaring as it lunged at Kaecilius.

Max’s thought process was simple: the visitor had ill intentions, so he would strike first and kill him. Of course, this dangerous ideology had been instilled in him by Tony. Striking first meant you were less likely to suffer a loss.

Kaecilius smiled contemptuously. In an instant, he waved his hands, conjuring a golden Spark Arc out of thin air that formed a circular gate. Sizzling golden sparks crackled against each other, dense and fine, as if this magic trick could connect to a different space.

Max’s massive electrical current was swallowed whole by this Golden Portal.

“I’ll return it to you, you foolish mortal. You will understand just how laughable your power is before me.”

Then, Kaecilius waved his hand again with disdain. A second Golden Portal suddenly appeared at Max’s side, and the immense electrical current blasted out from the newly formed gate, striking Max with its full force.

Max had essentially hit himself. The tremendous force sent him flying a great distance. Countless sparks erupted upon impact with his body, emitting a blinding light like an exploding electrical core.

Dust billowed, and sand filled the sky, mingling with the blue electricity. Chunks of rubble from buildings were sent flying, and Max's entire body was buried deep within a building.

“I should have found you sooner, but more important matters delayed my steps… My name is Kaecilius, and I am here to extend an invitation to you on behalf of a great entity.”

Kaecilius glanced at his fingernails, having defeated Max as easily as if he had blown a breath of air.

Tony narrowed his eyes. Sorcerers, especially those from Kamar-Taj, were renowned throughout the Universe, and this Kaecilius was even more terrifying.

“I don’t recall having any connection with you sorcerers, especially sorcerers from Kamar-Taj,” Tony sneered.

“You actually know of Kamar-Taj? How is that possible? Kamar-Taj is reclusive. A mortal like you couldn't possibly know of it,” Kaecilius showed a look of surprise. “But you misunderstand. I am here to invite you on behalf of a Great Entity.”

Kaecilius opened his arms like a devout saint embracing the world with obsessed fervor. His entire face glowed with a strange radiance as if praying for the grace of a supreme god.

“You should feel honored, Tony. A thoroughly mediocre mortal like you has been noticed by a Great Entity. He has bestowed upon you the chance to become one of his followers!”

“The name of that Great Entity is—Dormammu!”
