Chapter 157

Chapter 155: Ross, Dead?

2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit

General Ross sat in a tank, roaring into his walkie-talkie, continuously issuing orders for the soldiers to fight as they retreated.

"Contact the Carrier Battle Group immediately and have them commence Heavy Firepower Carpet Bombing! Report the coordinates of our rearmost position, tell them to bombard it, and stop engaging head-on! Also, get me Tony, that bastard, right now! I'll talk to him myself!" Ross roared, his eyes bloodshot.

When the call connected, Ross immediately launched into an interrogation.

"Are you fucking trying to commit treason?"

"General, I've saved the wounded soldiers and settled them in the jungle. We can figure out how to rescue them after the battle. I'm currently engaging the enemy from their rear, slaughtering them."

From the other end came Tony's calm voice amidst the sound of intense gunfire. It was clear the battle was fierce; Ross could even hear the agonizing cries of many Rhinos on the verge of death.

Tony had indeed used the Transformer Legion to launch a surprise attack on the enemy. The sudden barrage of gunfire caught the Wakandans, whose attention was focused on the front, completely off guard.

In an instant, one to two hundred people were taken out by Tony's volley of fire, and dozens of Rhinos were killed on the spot. These war Rhinos were only armored with Vibranium on their fronts, leaving their rears completely unprotected.

"General, I've animated an enemy aircraft! I'm inside it, and I'm requesting that the Military not bombard it!" Tony shouted.

"Who can tell which one is yours?"

"I will transform my spaceship into its humanoid form when I get closer to our troops!"

"Request approved. Get back here, fast!" Ross snorted. He instinctively felt something was wrong but couldn't pinpoint why, so he decided not to dwell on it, merely suppressing the inexplicable sense of crisis in his heart.

The entire army was on the verge of collapse; it was only normal to feel a sense of crisis and unease.

Tony's Transformer Legion had become a pack of frenzied killing machines. Taking advantage of their ranged weaponry, they brazenly launched a sneak attack on Wakanda's ground forces with spectacular results.

The Wakandan warriors were going insane. Many of their Tribe members had died.

Some warriors turned around, and a few spaceships began to change course, roaring as they charged toward Tony's Transformer Legion, brimming with overwhelming Killing Intent.

Taking advantage of the chaos, a perfectly ordinary Vibranium Spaceship flew in from the distance and also opened fire on Tony's Legion, successfully downing a Transformer.

"Nice shot, buddy!" a Wakandan pilot praised jubilantly, having no suspicions. The other ship didn't respond, but he paid it no mind, charging into the Core of the battlefield as if he were on stimulants, engaging the Robots he had never seen before.

That remarkable Spaceship then disengaged from this part of the battle and flew towards the front lines.

The Spaceship's speed was astonishing. At subsonic speeds, it quickly reached the main force, which was on the verge of collapse. The journey from when Tony re-entered the battlefield to arriving at the main force's area took less than ten minutes.

Out of more than fifty thousand soldiers, only just over thirty thousand remained. Corpses littered the ground. Many soldiers had broken down, kneeling on the ground and firing their guns like madmen in a futile attack.

The appearance of this Spaceship drew the Military's attention, and they opened fire without hesitation. Ross hadn't even bothered to pass down any order like, "Be careful not to hit Tony's soldier."

Tony's earlier decisive withdrawal from the rear defensive line had successfully enraged the control-freak General Ross. He could use this method to attack Tony. If he was killed, all the better. If not, it would serve as a warning. At worst, he could later claim the soldiers failed to execute their orders properly.

Ross was more of a politician than a soldier.

The Spaceship was hit by numerous missiles and fell limply to the ground. Unnoticed, it began to glide in its descent toward the headquarters.

Many soldiers cheered instinctively, without a second thought. It was incredibly difficult to destroy these spaceships—a lesson learned in blood. Just shooting one down was a remarkable achievement.

The Spaceship crashed very close to the headquarters, shaking many people.

"Go, you few super soldiers, and salvage some parts from that Spaceship, especially from the control room. Take as much as you can. It would be best if you could capture the pilot alive!" Ross commanded.

This was the first Spaceship to get this close to the headquarters, and it had crashed. All previous spaceships had been forced back by a relentless barrage of fire. The headquarters was the nerve center; it couldn't be wiped out by the enemy in one fell swoop.

If the battle was lost, it was lost. As long as they had enough contributions to report, the culpability of Ross and the others could be significantly reduced.

For a politician, political achievements are life, not anything else. Otherwise, Ross wouldn't have risked capturing the Hulk, knowing full well he was an invulnerable, frenzied Beast, just to use his raging blood to create a substitute.

This ultimately led to the deaths of countless innocent citizens in New York.

It led to the death of Tony's family, the destruction of his home.

A group of super soldiers quickly arrived in front of the Spaceship. Just as they found the door and were about to pull it open to enter, the Spaceship's long-extinguished Life Flame suddenly flared to life!

A powerful sense of crisis jolted General Ross's nerves. For a man who had faced death countless times, it was enough to make his hair stand on end. His ominous premonition magnified to its absolute limit.

The Spaceship's lights blazed brightly. Like an out-of-control Beast, it roared madly, activating all of its thrusters and charging forward ferociously!

The instantaneous acceleration was astonishing; in a flash, it crushed several super soldiers into pieces!

Directly ahead was the tank Ross was in! The temporary headquarters was set up within those few tanks!

A Giant Robot had broken free from its shackles. Seizing the moment while the personnel at headquarters were excited and agitated, it lunged toward its prey in an instant, despite the great distance!

BOOM! SCREECH!

The bottom of the Spaceship scraped against the ground, kicking up huge swathes of earth. Its powerful kinetic energy made the massive thing more terrifying than any weapon!

In an instant, the Spaceship grew larger and larger in Ross's pupils. Countless images began to flash through his mind as details he had overlooked surfaced from the depths of his memory.

*I've animated a spaceship, requesting you hold your fire...*

Anyone who knew Tony even slightly knew that the most important thing to him was the vehicle named "Optimus Prime." How could he possibly abandon Optimus Prime to pilot a Spaceship back alone?

"It's you! Tony! It's you!"

Ross's pupils dilated. He opened his mouth to say something, but it was useless. Before the rapidly sliding, massive Spaceship, he was utterly annihilated.

The anger in his eyes was gradually replaced by despair, and finally, his gaze lost its light.

The few tanks serving as the temporary headquarters were completely engulfed by the Spaceship, erupting with brilliant sparks, like the final, unwilling struggles of a life.

The headquarters was completely destroyed by the Spaceship's "dying flash." Soldiers not far away were still firing instinctively, their bullets creating laughable little sparks against the Spaceship's hull. They stared blankly at the sudden turn of events, their minds unable to process what had just happened.

In just these few short seconds, the many high-ranking officers were... gone?
