Chapter 153

Chapter 151: The Wakandan War (4)

2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit

“Order the troops to capture a few enemies alive, don't wipe them all out! I want to know what the deal is with these high-tech weapons, and who is supplying them!”

From the temporary Headquarters in the rear, General Ross issued the command with an air of authority. Many high-ranking military officials and government personnel looked on with grave concern. They weren’t worried about losing the battle; the enemy numbered only in the few hundreds, after all.

They were worried that an external force had intervened first, and was now using these natives to cause trouble for them.

That begged the question: had this "external force" only just occupied the Vibranium Mine, or had they been its masters all along? Some things were terrifying to think about too deeply.

“Get Tony over here for me! I need an explanation! Didn’t he swear up and down that the Kingdom of Wakanda was a country isolated from the world? Why has a third party appeared!”

A high-ranking official’s eyes were bloodshot. A faction capable of providing Energy Weapons was certainly no minor power. They were about to go from a battle that was supposed to be a walk in the park to a terrifying high-tech war. Watching the transmitted footage, it looked like it had the potential to turn into a small-scale meat grinder.

Taking that Tribe would cost them hundreds, if not thousands, of lives.

“Lieutenant Tony has already headed to the front line. He brought his Mechanical Legion with him!” someone reported.

Many brows furrowed, but their moods eased slightly. Rushing to the front lines himself, was this an expression of loyalty?

If Tony heard their thoughts, he would have scoffed that they were overthinking it. He just wanted to observe Wakanda's warfare and combat potential up close, especially to find an opportunity to Animate some of their high-tech spaceships.

“Where are our tanks and armored vehicles?” Ross asked with a cold snort.

“Twenty tanks have reached the front line. Lieutenant Tony is also about to arrive with his team.”

“Open fire! Shell the area first! I refuse to believe those pale blue things can withstand heavy artillery!”

At the front, twenty tanks and armored vehicles had already linked up with the Vanguard, who were retreating in disarray. At least three hundred men had fallen forever before the Border Tribe, while the enemy had lost only a handful, most of whom were wounded by stray bullets due to their overly aggressive movements during the attack.

It was a humiliating loss ratio.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The tanks and armored vehicles, those Land Behemoths, opened fire. Even now, in an age rife with all sorts of Black Technology, tanks and armored vehicles still possessed astonishing combat utility and potential. The role of these Land Fortresses would be irreplaceable for a long time to come.

Numerous heavy shells blasted from the muzzles, whistling as they descended upon the enemy's heads.

“I refuse to believe you natives can create an impenetrable 360-degree shield.” Ross slowly sat back down in his seat, a cold smile on his face, anticipating the scene of blood and gore in the next second.

To serve as the commander this time, Ross had spent a great deal of effort arguing the pros and cons to secure the position. He would not permit failure. One more defeat and his reputation would be in tatters.

But his expression quickly froze.

“Look! What is that thing?”

At the front line, someone pointed at the sky and yelled in terror. More people subconsciously looked up, their mouths also falling open in astonishment.

A dot suddenly appeared in the sky. Then, the dot became a sharp point. As the point grew larger, a spaceship-like object swiftly and abruptly materialized in the air, seemingly growing in substance.

It was as if the spaceship was drilling out of space itself, bit by bit.

“They’re here. The Vibranium spaceships that have long been common within Wakanda.” Tony squinted his eyes from the rear.

Although he was far away, one shouldn't forget his ability to Animate Transformers. A Small Transformer was already scurrying through the grass, rushing to the front line to serve as Tony's eyes.

Every Transformer was one of Tony's eyes.

Numerous Short Light Beams, similar to spears, were instantly fired from the spaceships, accurately targeting the artillery shells streaking through the air without missing a single one.

This was the Automatic Locking System of the Wakandan spaceships. Wakanda had developed Weak AI long ago.

Even though Weak AI was far inferior to a Strong AI like Tony Stark's, its lethality was imaginable when installed on a spaceship fully loaded with Energy Weapons.

The soldiers and high command were all stunned.

Where on earth did these spaceships, which were steadily materializing, come from?

“Spatial technology, or perhaps Mimicry Technology…” Someone with knowledge of cutting-edge technology felt a chill run down their spine at this scene.

Spatial technology was already outrageous enough—storing a spaceship in another dimension and being able to deploy it in actual combat. That level of technology was too terrifying.

But even the lesser option, Mimicry Technology, was terrifying enough!

If they could hide so many spaceships, then taking it a step further, why couldn't they hide an army? Or even a metropolis, a whole country?!!!

“General, I think we're in trouble… How could a place like this exist in this godforsaken Africa? How could there be so much high technology…” In the Headquarters, Ross's adjutant said with a dry throat.

Ross’s face was ashen, his still-authoritative expression filled with ferocious rage.

“All tanks and armored vehicles, concentrate your fire on the spaceships in the air! I don't care if they're aliens or some other damn thing, focus fire and shoot them down!” Ross said in a low voice.

The officer at the front faithfully executed Ross's order.

The tanks continued their bombardment, and the armored vehicles raised their rear rocket launchers. The rows of rockets were a massive deterrent and possessed astonishing killing power.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Dense volleys of rockets were launched one after another. Four of the airborne spaceships were shot down by the concentrated rocket fire.

Even though these spaceships were made with Vibranium, they still had other, more fragile materials. Under the siege of numerous heavy shells and rockets, they fell from the sky trailing black smoke.

Yes, they merely crashed down, trailing black smoke. They didn't explode.

Because the firepower of the artillery wasn't enough to completely destroy these high-tech spaceships.

“Concentrate fire! Concentrate fire again!” The officer at the front, his face filled with pleasant surprise, immediately roared into the communicator.

These Wakandan spaceships were unexpectedly agile. While returning fire with their Energy Cannons, they dodged numerous artillery shells, grazing past their hulls as if they were dancing gracefully on a knife's edge.

Beauty and death intertwined, bringing a suffocating despair.

The few hundred warriors of the Border Tribe also opened fire. With every swing of their spears, they could destroy a costly tank or armored vehicle, to say nothing of the Wakandan spaceships that were like Grim Reapers in the sky.

Twenty Land Fortresses were instantly destroyed. The remaining soldiers wore looks of despair, as did the military.

The main force was still hurrying to catch up and would take a while longer to arrive. They were all going to die. Could they possibly outrun the spaceships?

One of the spaceships in the air suddenly lost control for no reason. Immediately after, a translucent Energy Cannon blast shot over from a distance, blowing the wobbling spaceship apart in one shot.

Heaven-scorching flames erupted from the spaceship, and the pilot's charred corpse could even be seen falling tragically to the ground.

Dozens of various motorbikes came roaring over, forming several long lines. Tony, inside the predominantly blue truck, frowned slightly and slowly retracted his arm.

“These Vibranium spaceships… I can't perform Instant Animation. It requires a long time of gradual effort.”
