Chapter 122: What the F**k
2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit
A group of soldiers collectively swallowed, cold sweat pouring down as they subconsciously looked towards the wall.
It was too tragic, truly too tragic. The strength and speed of these lizardmen actually far surpassed that of ordinary people. Even an unarmed lizardman's claws and tail possessed immense destructive power, so fully armed soldiers always operated in squads.
Yet, the young man before them crushed the head of such a powerful genetically modified human with one hand. A casual flick sent its robust body crashing through a wall, pulverizing it into a bloody pulp. Occasionally, pieces of flesh splattered onto the soldiers, making some of the younger ones almost vomit.
Humanity's sixth sense, the primal instinct for self-preservation, blared an alarm. This guy in front of them posed a huge threat, and most crucially, he seemed to have an unpleasant history with General Ross.
"What did you say? General Ross's orders? Wasn't that guy locked up in prison?" Tony dug his ears, walking towards the soldiers.
The Sergeant, after repeated warnings proved futile, gritted his teeth and ordered an attack!
Some soldiers pulled out their tranquilizer guns and fired at Tony, a sneer appearing on their lips. Their military, as a legitimate enforcement agency, always led with force, authorized to shoot on sight anyone who didn't cooperate.
"No matter how arrogant you are, can you withstand bullets? We'll capture you alive, then there'll be plenty of time to deal with you!" They were already fantasizing about how to torture this arrogant kid in prison. This kid wouldn't be the first; before and after him, many more would be killed or captured alive.
A series of crisp sounds rang out. These soldiers were instantly dumbfounded, frozen like they were possessed.
With just one hand, Tony batted countless tranquilizer darts aside. His astonishing speed left terrifying afterimages in the air as he continuously swung his arms, deflecting the bullets aimed at him.
Although he didn't directly swat them away—an extremely difficult feat—deflecting them achieved the same effect. At this moment, Tony's strength had officially exceeded one ton, and his nerve reflexes were ridiculously powerful.
"What the f**k, is he a mutant? Or some other superhuman?" Some soldiers stopped shooting, unable to help but swear.
The Sergeant looked frustrated and helpless. The military was powerful, but even they became hesitant and cautious when facing superhumans of a certain strength, especially in urban areas where deploying heavy weaponry was difficult.
"Report to me, soldier, shouldn't the esteemed General Ross be in prison?" Tony smiled, but his entire body exuded a chill that made them feel as if they were falling into an ice cave. These soldiers trembled all over, staring at his devil-god-like figure.
The streets here were covered in gravel. With every step Tony took, the stones he stepped on were crushed into powder, yet no sound was made. Tony himself seemed an unspeakable killing machine, flattening everything in his path.
Tony slowly walked over to the pale-faced Sergeant, gently tidying the loyal man's attire and patting the dust from his clothes. The scene was like a prehistoric giant beast affectionately stroking an ant, every breath bringing a destructive aura.
"General Ross was only recently released. Because the lizardmen incident erupted so suddenly, General Ross, fresh out of prison, was given a chance to atone for his crimes through meritorious service and appointed as commander..." The Sergeant decided to compromise, speaking at a very fast pace and secretly turning on his walkie-talkie.
This small action couldn't escape Tony's notice, but he didn't care, as these people would certainly be interrogated afterward.
"General Ross was put in prison because of the Super Soldier Program, and now he's released because of the Super Soldier Program again? Has he become the new project head?" Tony slowly dropped his smile, his entire face becoming impassive, and the aura emanating from him grew even more dangerous.
This was bad news, very bad for Tony. He and Ross were utterly at odds. He had originally planned to lie low for a while, developing discreetly and first mass-producing a batch of regenerative metal. But General Ross being released was quite awkward; this would make things very troublesome.
Because Tony genuinely worried he wouldn't be able to resist killing Ross first, then becoming a fugitive.
This was a very troublesome matter, truly troublesome. What if he couldn't resist?
Tony seriously lowered his head and pondered. If Ross stood before him, he felt the probability of him killing without regard for consequences was... 99.9%.
The remaining 0.1% possibility was that he would suddenly become a f**king idiot; it was that simple.
The hatred between the two sides was too deep—perhaps from General Ross's perspective, he didn't feel he had committed any sin, at most expressing regret for the destruction of Tony's family. "Your family isn't the only one destroyed, what are you complaining about? Hulk and Abomination did it, what does that have to do with me?"
This was already remarkable! A high-and-mighty important figure actually expressed regret? What broad and magnificent magnanimity!
"Truly troublesome news..." Tony said faintly, his eyes flickering with coldness and killing intent, which quickly vanished as he deeply lowered his head. Ross might only be wary and worried about him, but Tony harbored a resolute killing intent towards Ross.
These conversations were quickly intercepted by the Special Department. After mobilizing surveillance cameras, they immediately recognized Tony as an utterly dangerous individual and promptly called in operational commander Ross to report the matter.
"Tony, this doesn't concern you. Go home immediately, and do not interfere with the military's operations! Of course, if you insist on meddling, I can promise you a spot as a special operative in the military." General Ross's authoritative words came from the walkie-talkie.
His time in prison had not impacted him. He was one of the most knowledgeable people in the military regarding the Super Soldier Program, and the military couldn't afford to waste such talent. In prison, it had instead given him more time to reflect.
So General Ross had an epiphany: the reason he had failed was a lack of super-powered forces loyal to him. Especially during the Hulk incident, logically speaking, Abomination was the most successful outcome. Although his appearance was grotesque and unsightly, Abomination was both rational and powerful! He hadn't become a monster that only knew destruction and slaughter like Hulk!
It was just a pity that Abomination's personality before augmentation was already unruly and defiant, and he was already not particularly submissive to his superior! Thinking about it the other way, if he himself possessed the power to make Abomination obey, would Abomination dare to defy him?
To some extent, Abomination was, besides Captain America, the most qualified Super Soldier!
Therefore, recruiting his own personnel and establishing a super team loyal to him was listed by General Ross as a priority objective. In this regard, that rival named Stryker had done quite well. Then Tony, who had his awakening that night, naturally entered his sights.
He held resentment towards Hulk, craved power, remained quietly in the city, and didn't turn dark or become a Gary Stu archetype due to his suddenly acquired power... He only needed to successfully guide this young man's hatred, and he would be a perfect super-powered subordinate...
General Ross was accustomed to weathering storms, but the thought of being able to bring Tony under his command, to charge into battle for his grand cause, still stirred ripples in his heart. A sense of excitement that hadn't appeared for many years surged within him, relaxing his entire body and making him feel years younger, full of renewed drive.
"Tony, come quickly! Identity, status, power, connections, resources—I have as much as you want, as long as you're willing to join me!" General Ross sat in front of the screen, trembling with excitement.
Tony snatched the walkie-talkie from the Sergeant's hand, surprised by General Ross's somewhat strange tone. He pondered for a moment and slowly spoke into the walkie-talkie a sentence he had wanted to say for ages.
"Ross, f**k your mother."
