Chapter 862 O Weapon Suddenly Becomes Important
The Illuminati hadn't thought much of Desmond to begin with. The main reason they recruited him was to see if the Juggernaut Serum he talked about could replace Cobra Venom.
After all, the leaders of the Illuminati are all powerful figures. They wouldn't put all their eggs in one basket. If there was a better substitute in the original plan, why not use it?

The Intelligence Quotient of the Experiment Subject injected with the Giant Brain Potion would drop drastically, turning a mentally sound adult into someone with intellectual disabilities in an instant.
Even those high Intelligence Quotient criminals who boasted about their high IQs became unable to count after being injected with the Juggernaut Serum. It was more like Poison than Enhancement Serum.
Desmond assured the Illuminati that he could solve this Problem if given some Time, but these Big Shots wouldn't waste Time on him.
Fortunately, Desmond still had some Ability in Gene Aspect, so he was assigned to Cadmus Labs to oversee the Kr. Plan and, by the way, Clone some Mutants for future use.
However, Desmond was obviously an ambitious Guy, so he used the Resources of Cadmus Research Institute to conduct Research privately. That's right, what he was researching was the Juggernaut Serum without Side Effect, which was the Serum he used when attacking Robin and others.
That was the only successful Serum. He originally wanted to use it to turn things around, but he happened to run into the Young Justice League led by Yang Le.
It was also at that Time that Yang Le took all the Information inside Cadmus Research Institute into his possession. When he saw the Information about this flawless Juggernaut Serum, he was not interested at all.
But at the same Time, after learning about Dr. Desmond's experience, a Plan emerged in Yang Le's Brain. With this Plan, he might be able to get in close contact with these cunning Guys from the Illuminati.
So Yang Le deleted the Information about the perfect Juggernaut Serum and, after transforming into Grey Matter, re-entered a piece of Information about the all-around Mutant—O Weapon.
Of course, there was nothing particularly important in this piece of Information. Yang Le imitated Desmond's tone and wrote an experimental diary, describing the birth of O Weapon as a Miracle that happened by chance.
Desmond (Yang Le) didn't know why O Weapon was born, but he knew what a Creature capable of carrying so many Superpower could bring him.
But Desmond was not impatient for quick success. He concealed the birth of O Weapon because he knew that the Illuminati looked down on mediocre talents who relied on Luck. So he wanted to report it after he had figured it out.
In subsequent Experiments, Desmond discovered that O Weapon had a strong adaptability to various Superhuman Genes. When O Weapon was first born, it only had three Abilities, but after a period of Experiment, its Abilities increased to six.
Super Gene adaptability, this is the Reason why the Illuminati valued O Weapon.
But unfortunately, Dr. Desmond was taken down by the Justice League before he could figure it out. This led to not only Superboy, but also O Weapon falling into the hands of the Justice League.
"Desmond, that good-for-nothing waste." Ra's al Ghul cursed. Even someone like him who didn't know much about High-Tech knew how much use a Creature that could adapt to various Genes could bring.
Even with the simplest usage, as long as they had an O Weapon, the Illuminati would have the confidence to create countless O Weapons. Then they wouldn't have to rely too much on their alien Allies.
As long as they assembled a Super Mutant Army, not to mention Earth, they could even launch a Counter-attack against the entire Universe and let those alien hicks taste the power of Humans.
