Chapter 639: Martians Who Are Not Afraid of Fire
Malafaak Ronz, the younger brother of Martian Manhunter J'onn J'onzz, unlike the honest and kind Martian Manhunter, Malafaak is a sinister and cunning villain.
Just like their brothers' names, J'onn J'onzz in Martian language means Supreme Light, while Malafaak is the opposite; his name's meaning is Dark Heart.
We have no way of knowing whether Malafaak became self-destructive because of his name, or whether his parents saw Malafaak's true nature from childhood. In short, Malafaak embarked on a road completely opposite to Martian Manhunter.
The brother became the Martian Manhunter known to all Martians, while the younger brother became a criminal who attempted to violate his sister-in-law.
It was this crime that completely changed the fate of all Martians. The captured Malafaak was put on trial, and the Martian court sentenced him to a serious crime, sealing most of Malafaak's memory and mental abilities.
For Martians, this punishment is second only to death. This is due to the unique nature of their society; without mental abilities, it's no different from being blind and mute.
Sounds miserable, doesn't it? But Malafaak, who had his mental abilities sealed as a result of misfortune, also lost another Martian characteristic: the fear of flame.
Pyrophobia, a weakness inherent to Martians, is not a genetic disease based on the physical body. Instead, it is a curse inherited through the spirit. Malafaak, having lost his mental and spirit abilities, naturally lost his fear of fire.
It was because of this that Malafaak was able to research and develop the mental plague that would destroy all Martians—H'ronmeer's Curse. Martians afflicted with this plague would be burned to death or scared to death by the mental fire within their heads.
Malafaak unscrupulously spread this plague on Mars, simply because he could not receive other people's mental abilities and was not afraid of flame.
Now, you should understand why Yang Le can resist the erosion of the Snake Staff and the damage of flame. This is because Yang Le personally sealed his own mental abilities, and by severing himself from the mental world, he also eliminated his pyrophobia.
For normal Martians, this might be the harshest punishment. Sealing the spirit is more unbearable than killing them. However, Yang Le is not a normal Martian; he is a Martian transformed by the Omnitrix, possessing human thought.
Although losing mental abilities deprived him of a killer move, it also eliminated the only weakness of Martians. It's a mixed bag, but against the people before him, relying on Martian physical abilities is almost sufficient.
Yang Le, transformed into a Dragon, roared and charged towards King Cobra. If he were to hit him squarely, he might send him flying into another world.
However, the others in the Serpent Gang would obviously not stand idly by and watch their leader get lucky. Gaboon Viper, the only one in terms of body size who could contend with Yang Le's giant dragon transformation, stepped forward immediately, positioning himself between Yang Le and King Cobra.
"Boom!"
Gaboon Viper struggled to withstand Yang Le's impact. The force was so immense that he was astonished. His body's muscles were already operating beyond their limit, yet he was still being pushed backward, sliding slowly.
If this continued, he would inevitably crush the leader to death before this green monster.
Gaboon Viper was drenched in sweat. He opened his blood basin mouth and roared incessantly. His body began to swell again, his head already hitting the ceiling of the factory building.
Seeing this terrifying scene, King Cobra showed no fear. Instead, he laughed heartily.
"Haha, Gaboon Viper's ability has become even stronger!"
As he laughed, debris from the pierced ceiling rained down, and King Cobra, standing not far from the clash of the giant beasts, was naturally in danger of being caught in the collapse.
But he remained unfazed. Even without the Snake Staff, he was still an enhanced superhuman, not to mention that all his leaders were standing beside him.
"Guard, Water Moccasin," King Cobra ordered Water Moccasin. "The rest of you, deal with that superhuman intruder. I need to complete the ritual for Black Mamba first."
"Yes, Leader!" ×4
Apart from Gaboon Viper, who was grappling with Yang Le, the other leaders responded to King Cobra's order. This included Copperhead, who had not fully recovered from his injury, yet his response was unwavering.
"Oh, right," King Cobra said, turning to Copperhead. "I can't have my leader going into battle with an injury."
With that, King Cobra waved the Snake Staff in his hand. A green light followed his force, transforming into a translucent green snake that burrowed into Copperhead's body.
"Mmm!" Copperhead groaned comfortably, feeling a tingling sensation spreading through his inside body. He knew his injury was healing.
Sure enough, as the green snake fully entered Copperhead's body, he felt his strength return once more. The wildness of the snake surged back into his body.
"Thank you, Leader," Copperhead said with fervor, his already immense worship for King Cobra now overflowing.
"Go," King Cobra waved his hand, turning his head to Black Mamba before him.
"Come, girl," a hint of madness flickered in King Cobra's eyes. "You are about to witness the greatest power in this world! He is the God of Gods who can entangle countless universes!"
Black Mamba understood King Cobra's meaning and quickly knelt on the ground, awaiting the hard-earned honor.
"Descend! God of Gods! Set God!"
As King Cobra's words faded, the Snake Staff in his hand slowly vanished, replaced by a phantom black shadow with seven heads, enveloping the Three-Headed Poisonous Snake…
…
"Run!"
Outside the Factory Building, Gaboon Viper, Gigantification to over ten meters, was locked in combat with Yang Le, who had transformed into a Dragon-Man. The outcome of the battle was uncertain for the moment, as Gaboon Viper's Snake Power allowed him to soften his bone and muscle.
Despite Gaboon Viper's Humanoid form, he could entwine himself with Yang Le like a true Snake. In a short time, Yang Le was truly unable to subdue him in this form.
Therefore, Yang Le simply transformed again, shifting from the Chinese Dragon image to a Dragon-Man with a powerful upper body and arms, resembling the Dragon God of Namek.
Yang Le's transformation was too swift. Before Gaboon Viper could react, a powerful fist slammed into his face.
