Chapter 638: Seven Serpent Gang Vipers Battle Martian Manhunter (2)

Copperhead wasn't sure what this layer of scales that grew on his body surface after his transformation was made of. However, he had tested it himself and concluded that this layer of copper-colored scales shouldn't be metal, at least not any of the metals he knew.

After all, his scales were very poor at conducting thermal energy. He had come to this conclusion a few days prior when he defeated a superhuman who could generate thermal energy. That superhuman was no ordinary character either; he could generate thermal energy capable of melting metal in mere seconds.

It sounded impressive, but he still ended up as Copperhead's defeated opponent. The thermal energy capable of melting metal only made Copperhead feel warm and couldn't even leave a black mark on his scales.

But the red ray shot by this green humanoid creature in front of him made him feel a burning pain. Copperhead estimated that it wouldn't be long before his chest was roasted.

Fortunately, this was the Serpent Gang's base camp, and his partners were all present.

Anaconda's three water cannons arrived at the battlefield first. The power of the water cannons sprayed out under high pressure should not be underestimated. It was only because Copperhead was in the way that she dared to attack so rashly. After all, other vipers weren't as thick-skinned as Copperhead.

The attack from his partner saved Copperhead's life. The water cannon, which also engulfed him, not only temporarily blocked Yang Le's heat ray, but also cooled down his body, saving him from his fate of being roasted.

Seeing the rapid water flow rushing towards him, Yang Le immediately stopped releasing heat vision and instead took deep gulps of the surrounding air.

The volume of air he inhaled was so immense that it even swelled his chest noticeably. Just as the water flow was about to reach his presence, Yang Le expelled the inhaled air.

The temperature inside the factory building instantly plummeted several degrees. A cold wind, as if from the Arctic, swept through the entire factory building. The water flow shot by Anaconda was first buffeted off course by the biting cold wind, and then rapidly transformed into a massive ice mountain.

Poor Copperhead, everything happened too fast. Before he could escape the water flow, he was frozen solid within the ice mountain. Hopefully, after his transformation into a Serpent Monster, he wasn't entirely cold-blooded; otherwise, he might very well die inside the ice mountain.

Seeing the water flow solidify into ice at an alarming speed, Anaconda had to cease her water cannon attack; otherwise, she risked being frozen solid by the enemy along the very water flow she projected.

King Cobra frowned deeply. Extremely low temperature was indeed a formidable enemy for these snake-like superhuman. While not lethal, it could certainly present significant obstacles.

King Cobra shifted his line of sight to the wall beside him. Being a food factory, a thermometer was naturally mounted on the wall of this factory building. This device was far more precise than those used at home.

The temperature displayed on the thermometer had already plummeted below zero. If it continued to fall, even if the enemy simply stood still, they would suffer injury. They could no longer allow their opponent to act with impunity.

King Cobra once again raised the snake staff in his hand. The same seven-colored light illuminated, slowly shifting to red light and gradually spreading outwards.

When he shifted his line of sight back to the thermometer, as expected, the displayed temperature began to rise gradually, eventually stabilizing at a temperature conducive to creature activity.

"Whoosh!"

Upon contact with the red light, the ice mountain that had just solidified instantly melted back into water, spreading outwards. Copperhead, who had been frozen within the ice mountain, was also freed, though judging by his form, the feeling of being frozen must have been far from pleasant.

"Thank you for saving my life, Leader," Copperhead gasped, his heavy breath ragged. He was slowly transforming back from Serpent Monster form to human form. It seemed his injury was too severe to maintain his transformation.

"Fall back, Copperhead," King Cobra commanded. He was no foolish leader; he wouldn't send his subordinate leaders to their death needlessly. For the Serpent Gang at present, every leader was a vital resource.

Even Rock Python, whom he had just dismissed and abandoned, was also considered valuable. Had Black Mamba not emerged, he might have given Rock Python another opportunity. But now, with a superior choice available, Rock Python was naturally expendable.

"Intriguing. You can actually withstand the Snake Staff's mental attack? No wonder you dared to invade my Serpent Gang's territory alone. It seems you possess some unique means."

King Cobra's expression turned grim, his pair of slit pupils fixed intently on Yang Le. Since the beginning, he hadn't ceased using the Snake Staff's mental ability to attack Yang Le's brain, yet the mental attack had proven fruitless beyond an initial, minor effect.

He couldn't fathom what means the opponent employed to block the attack of the divine weapon. Though he desired to bring him under his command for his own purposes, the Snake Staff remained unresponsive, indicating that Lord Snake God had not chosen this individual.

"Since that's the case, death is the only thing awaiting you!"

No sooner had King Cobra spoken these words than the red light intensified, becoming even more dazzling. Immediately, a burst of flame erupted from the Snake Staff, transforming mid-air into a colossal fire snake lunging towards Yang Le's direction.

Facing the flame that could terrify even a Martian to death, Yang Le, now transformed into **Swampfire**, showed no reaction whatsoever. Instead, he smirked wickedly, completely ignoring the fire snake that lunged at him with gaping jaws.

"Boom!"

The fire snake struck its goal, and like a real python, it coiled its body, wrapping itself tightly around Yang Le. Outside the raging flame, only a dark shadow could be discerned at the center of the inferno.

"Hmph!" King Cobra scoffed. He had imagined him to be some formidable character, but he turned out to be merely a flashy, useless guy. It was already a great glory for such a guy to be incinerated by the Snake God's flame.

"Bang!"

"What!?" King Cobra exclaimed in shock. The fire snake he had summoned had actually exploded. He saw a green creature with a body like a snake emerge, replacing the green humanoid creature, bursting through the flame and flying out.

Those familiar red eyes made King Cobra realize that the one who had burst forth was none other than the guy he had trapped with his fire snake. Incredibly, the opponent had undergone a transformation, adopting a new form, becoming a snake with horns on its head and four legs?

If Yang Le could still read King Cobra's thought at this moment, he would surely have cursed aloud. 'A snake? What I've transformed into is a true dragon!'

As for why Yang Le couldn't read King Cobra's thought, it certainly wasn't due to the shelter provided by the Snake Staff. It was because he currently couldn't utilize any mind-related ability, let alone thought reading.

Being unable to use telepathy and yet impervious to flame, it seemed unlike a Martian. However, Yang Le was indeed a genuine Martian, and there was more than one Martian like him.

There was an even more renowned Martian who shared these very traits: Martian Manhunter's younger brother.
