Chapter 414

Chapter 410: All-out Battle! Second Stage, Flowering!

The sunlight in the Battle Arena was intense, and the air grew scorching hot.

"Since we're just trading ineffective blows, I'll show you my Venusaur's Fire-type move!"

Snapping out of its confusion gave the Masked Man a surge of confidence. He raised his hand and pointed.

"Venusaur, use Weather Ball!"

"Saur!"

Venusaur let out a low roar. A pure white energy ball suddenly rose from the center of the flower on its back. Bathed in the light from the Sunny Day in the sky, the sphere instantly transformed into a scorching fireball, radiating a terrifying heat.

Unlike Solar Beam, this was a true flame in every sense.

"Pokedex Beep. Weather Ball, a Normal-type move. Its type changes with the weather. Under Sunny Day, it becomes a Fire-type move with power significantly higher than Flamethrower."

The Pokedex's voice made Ash's gaze sharpen. He hadn't expected this to be a combo attack.

A fierce assault with Petal Dance, then using Sunny Day and Earthquake to wait out the confusion, and finally finishing with a Fire-type Weather Ball.

Under the Chlorophyll ability, it could even launch the Fire-type Weather Ball first?

But Ash's eyes narrowed and he shouted, "My Solar Beam is a move from the previous turn!"

Indeed, Ivysaur had already stabilized itself. The Solar Beam energy, which had been interrupted by Earthquake, hadn't dissipated. The golden, scorching energy shot out directly, striking even faster than the Chlorophyll-boosted Venusaur.

"BOOM!"

Solar Beam struck Venusaur square in the face. The sun-like high temperature and intense heat made Venusaur let out a muffled grunt. Its massive body couldn't help but stumble back, dragging a black scorch mark across the ground, and a blackened scar appeared on the spot where it was hit.

But in the next second, relying on its immense vitality, it withstood the move. Bracing against the searing beam, it forcefully launched the Fire-type Weather Ball from its back.

"SWOOSH!"

Boosted by Chlorophyll, the Weather Ball shot out like a cannonball, moving at extreme speed. All Ivysaur could do was widen its eyes.

"BOOM!"

The Fire-type Weather Ball hit its mark. Flame energy exploded across its body, instantly erupting into a surging blaze that swept across this part of the Battle Arena.

The Solar Beam on the other side exploded as well. Two sizable explosions erupted simultaneously at opposite ends of the Battle Arena.

Two minutes later, the smoke and dust cleared.

On the Battle Arena, the Masked Man's Venusaur still stood firm. Its breathing wasn't steady, and a new scorch mark had appeared on its head. It had clearly taken considerable damage.

"Saur..."

On the other side, Ivysaur struggled to its feet, but its condition was much worse.

Its entire body was covered in black scorch marks. It was trembling, its eyelids drooped, and it was panting heavily. That one Fire-type Weather Ball had dealt it terrifying damage.

Comparing the two, their conditions were worlds apart.

"I've won."

Seeing this, the Masked Man secretly clenched his fists. Although this special Ivysaur's strength was impressive and had even put him in a difficult spot, the outcome of this battle was already decided.

"Saur!"

A low roar cut through the Masked Man's thoughts.

Before he could give the order to end the battle, the Ivysaur dragged its wound-covered body forward, proudly raising its head. Under the dazzling sunlight from the sky, its entire body suddenly began to glow with a brilliant white light. It was as if its body was being sublimated, its energy continuously rising.

"It's evolving?!"

The Masked Man was momentarily stunned. Logically, this Ivysaur's level was high enough, so an evolution in a desperate situation wasn't unusual. But everyone who witnessed the light of evolution would enter a dazed state, marveling at the greatness of the world.

As a Pokemon Professor, he was no different.

The entire stadium, filled with tens of thousands of people, fell silent for a moment, all eyes quietly appreciating the scene.

The charm of evolution was enough to captivate anyone.

"No, this isn't evolution."

Ash's sudden, confident voice was like a stone skipping across water, disrupting everyone's thoughts.

He understood his Pokémon's will. Its evolution into Ivysaur was already its biggest concession. Its Pokédex number could not go back another step; 002 was its final stand.

In this lifetime, it would probably never evolve into 003.

This wasn't evolution, but...

In the next second, the strange white light of evolution indeed began to shift, finally concentrating entirely on the flower bulb on its back. The skin on its limbs and head had returned to its previous vibrant green. Its physique had grown slightly larger, but its appearance hadn't changed drastically.

"Pfft!"

And as the white light completely faded, the half-opened flower on Ivysaur's back finally bloomed completely. Instantly, a sweet fragrance filled the entire stadium.

This wasn't evolution.

It was flowering.

In its second stage, as an Ivysaur, it had bloomed a flower even more brilliant than that of a Venusaur.

It was a chosen one. This was an ultra-special form that only an Ivysaur that had received the energy blessings from its many kin in the Mysterious Garden could possibly achieve!

The splendid crimson petals weren't as lush and leafy as a third-stage evolution's, but rather stood firm and well-proportioned, perfectly matching Ivysaur's body.

"SAUR!"

The transformation complete, Ivysaur once again threw back its head and roared, its expression fierce and resolute. The aura that surged forth this time was in no way inferior to the opposing Venusaur's, projecting an incredibly powerful presence.

It would defeat Venusaur here and prove that its current form was the most perfect state for the Bulbasaur line!

This act caused the nearly silent stadium to erupt once more with a huge commotion and cheers. The Masked Man, with his researcher's spirit, wished he could stop the battle on the spot and give the Ivysaur before him a physical examination.

But the battle continued.

The effect of Sunny Day seemed to have been completely drained by Ivysaur and had vanished, but the fire in both Ash's and the Masked Man's eyes burned brighter than ever.

The second round was just beginning!

"Ivysaur, use Razor Leaf!"

"Venusaur, use Razor Leaf!"

The two tacitly ordered the same move. They glanced at each other, the corners of their mouths turning up in a smile, having met their match.

The two Pokémon shuddered and, in a repeat of before, launched countless green-leaf blades that shot toward the center of the Battle Arena, colliding endlessly.

"Rat-a-tat!"

In the evenly matched clash, the situation this time was completely different from before. Ivysaur's power was in no way inferior to its opponent's. In fact, because it had just flowered, its momentum had surged to its peak, and the power of its move even managed to steadily overpower the other.

"Swoosh!"

This time, it was its Razor Leaf that broke through the barrage, slashing across Venusaur's face and leaving a sharp, bleeding gash.

"CRACK!"

Next came a similar Vine Whip move. Eight vines once again locked together. Although Ivysaur's physique was only a third the size of Venusaur's, its strength was now not the least bit inferior. Both Pokémon gritted their teeth, exerting all their might to try and drag the other down.

"Saurrr..."

"Sauuur..."

The exchange of Razor Leaf and Vine Whip moves ended, leaving both Pokémon panting for breath.

Ivysaur was, of course, already like a candle in the wind; it was common knowledge that evolution doesn't restore health.

And although Venusaur's condition wasn't as dire, for some reason, the feeling it got from this member of its species was too strange. It actually felt a kind of...

Urge to bow its head in submission?

After all, it was a chosen Venusaur with a Hidden Ability. Other 'Garlic Turtles' had to call it 'Big Brother' when they saw it. This strange feeling made its heart turn cold, and even its breathing became ragged.

Sensing its will, the Masked Man's eyebrow twitched. He thought to himself that if he didn't completely extinguish his opponent's surging fighting spirit now, the tide of this match could turn.

His gaze turned solemn, and he went for the knockout blow.

"In that case, Venusaur, use Power Whip with maximum power!"

"SAUR!"

Venusaur let out a mighty roar. It raised its heavy forelimbs high before slamming them down onto the ground. From the root of the flower on its back, eight green vines lashed out, whipping wildly around its body.

But this time, the vines had transformed into an attack composed entirely of Grass-type energy. They were a vibrant, translucent green, as exquisite and beautiful as eight jade serpents, yet they radiated an incredibly terrifying power. After a flurry of movement, they all shot towards their target in unison. In their wake, the very ground cracked and shattered, leaving a deep trench.

Seeing this, Ash unexpectedly let out a long breath and closed his eyes. His mind couldn't help but flash back to Ivysaur's special training over the past few days.

For a moment, it was as if time in the entire world had frozen just for him.

A few days ago, Professor Oak had given Blue a Grass-type ultimate Technical Machine. Having no use for it, she had temporarily left it with him.

Unlike Gary's pure-blooded third-stage Blastoise, his own second-stage Ivysaur had undergone special training for days but still couldn't master this move.

But now was different. He believed that the current Ivysaur, even in its second-stage form, could execute the Grass-type's ultimate move!

At this thought, he opened his eyes. In that instant, his will connected with Ivysaur's. Both could clearly feel the fervent battle intent burning in each other's hearts.

In the next moment, Ash roared:

"Ivysaur, use Frenzy Plant!"
