Chapter 252

Chapter 1129: Double Battle, Trick Room!

Ash's sudden appearance drew the gazes of all three.

"It's you?!"

Zinnia recognized Ash, her gaze instantly turning fierce.

For the past few years, she had enjoyed nothing but smooth sailing. The sole exception was her attempt to ambush Ash, which ended with her getting thoroughly beaten.

Zinnia held no fondness for Ash.

"This kid... he looks a little familiar," Archie mused, sizing Ash up. He seemed to recall seeing him a few times before, but only ever in passing.

"It's too dangerous here! You need to leave, quickly!" Elite Four Phoebe looked at the unfamiliar boy, her expression growing anxious.

He looked to be a couple of years younger than her; a trainer like that was most likely a rookie. Forget coordinating with him—if a real fight broke out, she would have to divert her attention just to protect him.

However, Ash simply took his place beside Elite Four Phoebe, his gaze fixed on the two dangerous enemies before them.

If it were one-on-two, he would have to reconsider. But with a powerful Elite Four member as an ally, Ash was naturally going to go all out.

Speaking of which, this meant he had now met all of the Hoenn League's Elite Four.

"I'm Ash from Pallet Town. If this is a double battle, I'm in your care!"

Ash didn't turn his head, merely giving Phoebe a glimpse of his cool side profile as he spoke.

He had also heard clearly just now: Zinnia had stolen Phoebe's Blue Orb.

In that case, had this dangerous woman also stolen the Red Orb? After all, the Pokémon that had escaped from Gary in the Unova Region was a Dragon-type. And the partners of the Draconid People were mostly Dragon-type Pokémon.

The Red Orb, the Blue Orb... Right now, it seemed Zinnia was planning to do something to Groudon and Kyogre.

Although Ash didn't know the specifics of her plan, he was certain it was an extremely dangerous one.

"You've got some nerve, kid." Seeing Ash posturing as if he intended to interfere, Archie laughed, his anger turning to amusement. "Do any and all wet-behind-the-ears brats dare to stand in Team Aqua's way these days?!"

"Shaaarrk!!"

The Sharpedo in front of Archie opened its massive jaws, its appearance ferocious, looking as if it would lunge forward at any second to tear Ash to pieces.

"Be careful. This kid is no pushover," Zinnia suddenly warned. As much as she wanted to finish Ash off herself, she still maintained enough rationality.

"Hmph."

Knowing Zinnia wouldn't speak without reason, Archie paused. He snorted coldly and began to size Ash up again.

Phoebe naturally overheard their exchange, and her expression immediately relaxed.

It seemed this young man was no simple character, either.

*Tap.*

At this thought, Elite Four Phoebe's expression hardened. She took a step forward, standing beside Ash.

"Duuusclops!"

The Dusclops standing by seemed to understand implicitly. In a flicker of ghostly energy, it appeared in front of Phoebe.

"Ash from Pallet Town, if this is going to be a double battle, please use a slow Pokémon!" Phoebe called out.

Coincidentally, the rooftop where the four of them stood was situated right above a field that resembled a training arena. The place was normally an open battle exhibition arena, but it had been temporarily closed for the past month due to the unpredictable weather. Now, however, it had become a perfect stage.

This battle environment reminded Ash of his fight with Gym Leader Sabrina back in Saffron City, which had also taken place on the rooftop of a skyscraper.

"A slow Pokémon, huh?"

Ash's hand, which was touching a Poké Ball, stiffened slightly. He had originally planned to send out Regieleki.

After all, against an Elite Four-level opponent, he had to be serious.

Plus, with the rain, a single Thunder would likely be more than enough to handle the two Pokémon on the other side who were weak to Electric-type moves.

But if it had to be a slow one...

"Then, I choose you, Torkoal!"

Ash flipped his palm, sending out Torkoal.

*Pshhh!*

As soon as it appeared, its shell spewed out a cloud of black, smoky steam.

It carried a strange power as it rose. In just a moment, the light rain stopped. Even the gloomy, dark clouds in the sky dispersed, and sunlight shone down on the rooftop where they all stood.

Ability: Drought!

"Tch... Groudon's ability. How disgusting." This caused Archie of Team Aqua to make a face as if he'd just stepped in something foul.

"Then finish it, Sharpedo!"

"Go, Altaria!"

As she spoke, Zinnia's Altaria flapped its wings and rose, circling in mid-air.

Below, the incredibly dangerous Sharpedo bared its menacing maw.

Torkoal and Dusclops stood side-by-side.

Both sides were experts, which made Ash's expression turn incredibly serious. In terms of level, his Torkoal was likely the lowest on the field.

The battle began!

"Duuusclops!"

Before anyone had even given a command, Dusclops's single eye flashed as if it had sensed something.

Ability: Frisk!

This ability allowed Dusclops to immediately perceive what held items the opponents had.

Phoebe, as if she could understand its thoughts, also wore an incredibly grave expression.

"Those two items..."

"Hmph! Dragon Pulse!"

"Use Aqua Jet!"

But the two on the other side were ruthless characters, launching their attacks immediately.

In the next moment, a giant dragon of energy shimmering with multicolored light roared down from mid-air.

From below, a jet of water shot forward like a rocket, moving at extreme speed.

"Torkoal, use Flamethrower to block it!"

Both Pokémon on this side were slow-paced combatants. Torkoal flicked its head, and a scorching pillar of fire roared out in response.

*BOOM!*

It collided with the Dragon Pulse in mid-air, resulting in a stalemate.

This was, after all, a Flamethrower enhanced by the harsh sunlight. Without it, the attack would have been instantly overwhelmed by the opponent's Dragon Pulse.

*WHOOSH!*

Meanwhile, the priority move Aqua Jet slammed directly into Dusclops. The powerful force sent it reeling backward.

"Now! Use Trick Room!" Phoebe ignored the hit, commanding without hesitation.

Dusclops's held item was an Eviolite, so its defenses were ridiculously high. Even though it was scraped again by the opponent's Rough Skin ability, it wasn't a major problem.

"Duuusclops!"

As its ghostly hands waved, the vast, open-air rooftop was enveloped by a massive, cube-like field!

Because of this, Altaria's next Dragon Pulse hadn't even finished charging.

*FWOOSH!*

A blazing torrent of flame had already spewed forth, striking Altaria and blasting it back several meters with the force of the heat.

Inside the Trick Room, the originally slow-paced Pokémon now moved first.

"Waaaaah...!"

Feeling this unprecedented speed, Ash's Torkoal burst into tears, its sobs like pillars of water.
