Chapter 107: Blue's Dream
2024-05-15 Author: Samsung Charmander (Author Name)
Amidst the laughter and cheer, Ash sank into a state of ashen-faced despair.
After all, rabies was a disease with an unknown incubation period.
Perhaps tomorrow he would transform into a rabid beast, howling his way across the Kanto Region. Or perhaps he'd be fine until the day he died.
It was all metaphysics.
"Alright, alright."
Seeing Ash's face shift from deathly pale to nearly black, Nurse Joy finally put a stop to everyone's teasing.
"I just examined that Eevee. It wasn't carrying any strange viruses. Giving you a rabies shot was just a routine procedure. In theory, it wouldn't have been a problem even if you didn't get one."
"Really!?"
Upon hearing this, Ash felt as if he'd been reborn. He looked at Nurse Joy's figure as if she were a shining angel.
Seeing that Ash wasn't going to turn into a rabid beast, the other three immediately scattered, their interest gone.
But just to be safe, Ash still waited three hours, rolled up his sleeve again, and gave his Qilin Arm another shot.
Just for peace of mind.
The next morning.
When Ash and the other two woke up, Gary was already long gone.
He had gotten the Marsh Badge and cleared the Silph Co. dungeon. There was no longer any reason to stay in this city; he had no desire to play house with Ash.
"Damn it, that Gary is still so arrogant."
Ash cursed under his breath, planning to head to the Saffron Gym first to retrieve Gary.
However, just as he reached the entrance of the Pokémon Center, a man with short, silver hair and a noble air approached him.
The look he gave Ash was filled with disbelief.
"Mr. Da Che? What are you doing here?"
Ash was slightly stunned; he had completely forgotten about leaving Da Che behind in the Silph Co. Building.
"Heh, the teleportation that day sent me directly to the room of Silph Co.'s president. By the time we came to our senses, the lockdown on the entire building had been lifted. The people from the Rainbow Group left a note and completely withdrew."
Da Che slowly explained.
He then looked at Ash, and at the girl in the sun hat behind him.
Although Blue's appearance had changed, he recognized her at a glance as the Corporate Slave employee from before.
He surmised that the ones who drove the Rainbow Group out of Saffron City were this very pair.
So young and accomplished. The new generation is truly incredible!
He had completely misjudged them.
"Let's go. The president of Silph Co. asked me to invite you to the company. He wants to thank you in person and mentioned there would be gifts."
Da Che said with a smile.
Hearing this, Ash's and Blue's eyes lit up, and they instantly forgot all about Brock.
They chatted excitedly on the way to the Silph Co. building.
The group arrived at their destination.
By now, all the signs outside related to the Rainbow Group had been completely dismantled. Even Ash had to admire Silph Co.'s speed.
With this kind of speed, they deserved to be robbed.
"Our distinguished guests, this way please."
A guide came forward to greet them, now wearing a Silph Co. uniform instead of a Rainbow Group one.
The group nodded and entered.
But just as they stepped on the Warp Tile at the entrance, a brilliant white light flared up, engulfing them.
*Zing!*
When they came to their senses, the light had faded, and they were already standing on the top floor of the Silph Co. Building, the 40th floor.
A benevolent-looking, white-haired Elder was sitting in front of a complex control panel.
He wore a black top hat, his eyes smiling as he looked at the group.
Standing next to him was another old man with wild, explosive hair.
He was dressed in a white researcher's coat, looking like some kind of mad scientist.
It was Dr. Saiban, whom they had met once before.
"Welcome, everyone. Allow me to introduce myself. I am the founder of Silph Co. You can call me by my name, Silph."
He stood up and gave Ash and Blue a deep bow.
Although he didn't know the exact details, he was reasonably certain that it was these two youths before him who had driven the Rainbow Group away.
This was a great kindness.
Startled by an old man suddenly bowing to them, the pair became flustered and quickly waved their hands.
"We were just passersby, it was nothing."
"Yeah, yeah! Blue from Pallet Town never leaves her name after doing a good deed~"
Silph waved his hand and spoke again:
"Regardless, you are the ones who took Silph Co. back from Team Rocket's hands. I must give you a reward."
Thinking of this, he sighed.
What was the use of having a strong foundation? Without power, they were still just meat on a chopping block.
They had been completely helpless against Team Rocket's attack.
At this, his gaze shifted to Da Che, a look of envy in his eyes.
The Devon Corporation that Da Che came from was a large enterprise just like theirs.
But they were backed by the son of the president, a Champion-level trainer. With that kind of maxed-out power, who would dare to mess with them?
Perhaps in the future, he could choose to cooperate with the Devon Corporation...
After waiting for a long time.
Ash and Blue frowned. This old man mentioned a reward and then just trailed off. Was he deliberately trying to annoy them?
"Ahem."
Dr. Saiban, standing beside him, quickly coughed. Only then did Silph snap out of his daydream about multinational corporate alliances and turn back to the two with a smile.
"Hehe, my two young friends, speak. You can ask for any reward you want. As long as it's within my power, I will grant it."
Ash blinked, his mind racing.
Silph Co. was famous for its Poké Ball manufacturing, and word was they even had special Poké Balls. At this thought, he blurted out:
"I just want a lar..."
Before he could finish, Silph cut him off.
"Oh, my young friend wants a large quantity of Poké Balls? Granted! A huge supply, enough to satisfy you completely. I'll give you a Silph Co. VIP Black Card later, which you can use to get free Poké Balls at any shop in the Kanto Region."
They produced most of the Poké Balls in the Kanto Region, so he indeed had the confidence to make such a statement.
However, as soon as he said this, the expressions of Da Che and Dr. Saiban subtly changed.
*All that talk just to avoid giving him a Master Ball. What a cheapskate.*
Silph could only let out a feigned cough, his expression awkward.
Master Balls were incredibly precious. They had only ever made two, and one had been stolen by Team Rocket.
The other had to be kept as an experimental subject sample and really couldn't be given away.
The day Silph Co. could mass-produce Master Balls, he wouldn't mind giving him a whole basketful!
Hearing the offer, Ash nodded with satisfaction.
What he really wanted was a large quantity of Poké Balls. Something like a Master Ball was completely useless to him.
What was the point of a 100% capture rate?
If you couldn't catch it, just zap it a few more times. You could even capture Arceus in a Poké Ball that way!
Seeing this, Blue at his side quickly made a reasonable request:
"Oh, I don't need anything else. You can just give me some Silph Co. stock. Not much, about a hundred thousand shares should do."
Silph: "?"
Silph Co. only had about a million shares in total. Who the hell could just give away a hundred thousand?!
After hesitating for a long time, he finally replied, with a pained expression:
"Hehe, well, our company's vitality has been greatly damaged by this incident. One hundred thousand shares is quite impossible to part with. The most I can personally give you is... ten thousand shares?"
Hearing this, Blue's pretty brows furrowed, but she finally nodded, reluctantly accepting his proposal.
Now she had the ten thousand shares of the Rainbow Group she got from Lambda, and another ten thousand shares of Silph Co.
Instantly, a new dream was born in Blue's mind.
She planned to one day infiltrate Team Rocket and the Pokémon League, get ten thousand shares from each, and become a stock tycoon who dominated all the major corporations in the Kanto Region!
"No, I want shares from all over the World!"
She clenched her fists, her blood boiling with passion.
Beside her, a bewildered Ash sidled up to Da Che and asked in a low voice:
"Mr. Da Che, how much are ten thousand shares worth?"
Da Che estimated in his head before giving a comparison:
"About ten houses in Saffron City."
This comparison didn't give Ash much of a concept, so Da Che had to clarify further:
"Well, one house in Saffron City is equal to ten villas in Pallet Town..."
Ash: "!"
That was enough to buy nearly half of Pallet Town!?
What a huge loss!
But seeing Silph's smiling face, he finally unclenched his fists.
*Forget it, I didn't come here for a reward anyway.*
The most ridiculous part was that he hadn't done anything at all. He just drank coffee for half an hour and that was it.
Thinking about it that way, it didn't seem like such a bad deal.
With their business concluded, the group prepared to leave the Silph Co. Building.
Just then, Ash suddenly remembered something. He quickly leaned in close to Silph's ear and whispered conspiratorially:
"Hey, I was wondering, blah blah blah..."
Following this bit of Dragon Language Communication, Silph's expression first turned to one of surprise.
Then, he couldn't help but laugh out loud, stroking his beard in approval.
"Hehe, in that case, I'll be looking forward to your show..."
