Chapter 17

Chapter 17: Rich Young Master

Author: Xianyu Wangyue

"Still want to fight?" Aotian asked with a smile.

Tang San was reeling from the throw, his mind a complete blank.

How could this Aotian be so monstrously powerful in terms of strength, speed, and defense? He far surpassed him in every single aspect.

Even if Aotian stood there and let him attack, Tang San couldn't even hurt him.

The more Tang San thought about it, the more dejected he became. His opponent hadn't used any particular techniques; he had been rendered utterly helpless by sheer power and speed alone.

He had always thought that Aotian was just an arrogant and conceited guy who relied on a bit of talent but possessed no real strength.

However, reality had just slapped him hard across the face.

Just as Aotian had said, his pride was backed by substance.

Tang San's face burned. He had wanted to teach Aotian a lesson, but instead, he was the one who had been taught.

He climbed to his feet, patting the dust off his clothes, and looked at Aotian with a complicated expression.

After a few seconds of silence, he finally said, "Aotian, I lost this time."

Aotian looked at the ashamed Tang San and smiled. "You were right earlier. There's always a heaven beyond the heavens, and always someone better than you. I'm returning those words to you now."

Tang San's face grew even redder, and he felt like he could die from embarrassment.

Seeing that the atmosphere was a little awkward, Wang Sheng quickly changed the subject. "Aotian, since you've defeated Tang San, you can fight Boss Xiao Wu next."

Aotian turned to look at Xiao Wu and said, "No need. Let Xiao Wu be the Boss."

He couldn't be bothered to be some Boss; it was nothing but a pile of trivial matters.

Besides, Xiao Wu seemed very interested in the position, so he might as well do her a favor.

"This… isn't quite right, is it?" Wang Sheng said, troubled.

"What's not right about it?" Xiao Wu looked at Wang Sheng. "Is there a rule that says you can't concede?"

"Uh… well, no."

"Then it's happily decided. From now on, I'm the Boss of Dormitory Seven," Xiao Wu announced loudly.

"But from now on, you should call me Sister Xiao Wu. Calling me Boss all the time makes me sound old."

The group of boys looked at each other, then one by one, they began to call her Sister Xiao Wu.

Just then, a teacher who looked to be in his thirties appeared at the door and called out, "The new Work-Study Students, come out for a moment."

Aotian, Xiao Wu, and Tang San stepped forward.

The teacher was holding two sets of bedding. His gaze swept over the three of them, and when he saw Aotian and Xiao Wu, he was momentarily stunned by their appearance.

His eyes lingered on Aotian's face for a moment before he asked, "Which of you are Tang San and Aotian?"

Tang San raised his hand. "Teacher, I'm Tang San."

Aotian said, "I'm Aotian."

The teacher said, "You can call me Teacher Mo. Tang San, Aotian, this bedding is from Grandmaster for you."

Tang San accepted the bedding, his heart filled with a touch of emotion. He hadn't expected Grandmaster to have even prepared these items for him.

Aotian, however, stood there without moving. He had no connection with Grandmaster and didn't want one, so he naturally wouldn't accept the man's things.

Seeing Aotian remain still, Teacher Mo frowned. "Aotian, this is your bedding."

Aotian shook his head. "Thank you for your trouble, Teacher Mo, but please return the bedding to Grandmaster. I don't need it."

"You already have bedding?" Teacher Mo asked.

"I have money. I'll go buy some in a bit."

"Alright then." Teacher Mo nodded. "First, let me tell you about the work you need to do every day…"

After finishing, he looked at Wang Sheng and said, "Wang Sheng, you're an old hand here. Explain the Academy's rules to them. And remember, no bullying the new students."

Wang Sheng nodded repeatedly in agreement.

Teacher Mo left, carrying the remaining set of bedding.

Tang San glanced at Aotian but didn't say anything, carrying his bedding back to his own bed to spread it out.

Xiao Wu looked at Tang San's quilt with some envy.

The eyes of the other boys immediately lit up, and they scrambled over, each holding their own quilt.

"Boss, use my quilt."

"Boss, use mine."

"..."

Xiao Wu looked at the quilts—they were tattered and torn, and each gave off a strange odor: sour, fishy, musty…

"No, thank you. No, thank you," Xiao Wu said, shaking her head repeatedly as a layer of goosebumps rose on her skin.

Her gaze swept across the room and found Aotian already sitting on an empty bed in the inner part of the dormitory, with two sets of school uniforms placed beside him.

Xiao Wu quickly walked over and sat down next to Aotian, propping herself up with her hands as her two slender legs dangled and swung.

She looked at Aotian's perfect side profile and said, "Aotian, can I discuss something with you?"

"What is it?" Aotian turned to look at the little loli.

"You said you had money just now, right? Could you lend me a little? I want to buy a quilt too. Don't worry, Teacher Mo just said we get ten Copper Soul Coins for our work every day. I'll be able to pay you back soon."

Xiao Wu blinked her large, watery eyes, looking at Aotian with anticipation.

The weather had already turned to autumn, and the nights were quite chilly. It would be miserable without a quilt.

"I was lying earlier. I don't actually have any money on me."

"Ah—" Xiao Wu cried out in alarm, attracting the attention of everyone else. "Then why did you refuse the quilt that Grandmaster gave you?"

Tang San, who was arranging his own bed, secretly perked up his ears, also wanting to hear what Aotian would say.

Aotian shrugged. "You heard Tang San earlier. That Grandmaster wants to take me as his disciple, but I don't want to be his disciple. So how could I accept his things?"

Xiao Wu nodded. "That makes sense."

But then, her lips puckered. "Then what are we going to do without a quilt? It's really cold at night."

Aotian glanced at Xiao Wu's delicate, tender-skinned body and teased, "How about we hug each other for warmth at night?"

Xiao Wu's little face flushed red, and she jumped off the bed.

"You… scoundrel!" She stomped her foot, picked up her school uniform, and ran to the adjacent bed.

Her gaze occasionally drifted toward Tang San, who was making his bed diagonally opposite her, a hint of envy in her eyes.

A faint smile played on Aotian's lips. He stood up and raised a hand, gently stroking the bed.

A soft and magnificent mattress appeared on the bed frame. Everyone who saw this couldn't help but gasp in amazement.

All eyes were once again drawn to Aotian.

Xiao Wu took a mighty leap from her own bed and landed on Aotian's mattress.

"Aotian, where did you get this mattress? Ahh—it's so comfortable!"

Xiao Wu couldn't resist lying down on it, rolling back and forth and letting out occasional squeals of excitement.

Tang San, who had been arranging his bed, froze in place, completely dumbstruck.

He had happened to look over just in time to see Aotian conjure a mattress out of thin air as if by magic.

This was the first time he had ever seen such a thing as a mattress. He had always slept by laying his mat directly on the wooden bed boards. He had heard that mattresses were a luxury only the rich could afford.

Wang Sheng and the others couldn't help but gulp, staring at the magnificent mattress, their minds racing as they tried to guess Aotian's true identity.

This was something they, as Work-Study Students, could never afford.

"Aotian… did you just use a Soul Tool?" Wang Sheng asked tentatively.

Aotian had made a mattress appear with a wave of his hand. Wang Sheng felt that this must be the legendary Soul Tool.

*A Soul Tool? What's that?* A huge question popped into Tang San's mind, but he didn't voice it.

He planned to ask Grandmaster about it when he saw him next.

"If you say so, then it is," Aotian said with an almost imperceptible curl of his lip.

As if he would ever use something as low-level as a Soul Tool…

Hearing Aotian's words, another round of gasps echoed through the dormitory.

A Storage Soul Tool was terrifyingly expensive; you couldn't necessarily buy one even if you had the money.

At the very least, there was no place in Nuoding City that sold Storage Soul Tools.

Wang Sheng hesitated for a moment before asking, "Aotian, your family must be very rich, right? Why did you come here to be a Work-Study Student?"

"Because I feel like it. That's all."

Wang Sheng and the others looked at one another, their expressions incredibly complex. So, Aotian was actually a rich young master.

Handsome, powerful, and rich… an extreme sense of imbalance suddenly welled up in their hearts.

Why…
