Chapter 802: Buried
In Brightest Day, there will be light.
To cleanse the soul of all that is wrong.
When darkness descends, raise your sight.
A new day comes, with light beyond measure.
The oath of the White Lantern Ring resounded across Earth. Over a dozen warriors wearing White Lantern Rings joined the battlefield, besieging Nekron together.
Among them, Tony still served as the absolute main force, holding the front line in a desperate battle against Nekron.
An unseen gaze swept across the sky, landing on the Life Entity that was comfortably watching the show from the air. A fire had long been smoldering in Tony's heart.
This wasn't anger. After all, no matter what, the Life Entity had granted him the White Lantern power needed to wear down Nekron. His ability to break through the gate to Level Eight was also thanks to the Life Entity.
This fire was, more than anything, ambition.
"Feels good to watch the show, doesn't it? Watching a bunch of hired hands risk their lives right in front of you. You must be loving it, right?"
Tony fought Nekron, his heart filled with malicious intent.
He began to plot how he could tie up the Life Entity and drag it back to Cybertron. This thing was a creature that had devolved from the White Light of Creation; its value was astonishing...
The Life Entity danced silently in the air. It could clearly feel a powerful malice emanating from Tony, which immediately put it on high alert.
"This greedy fellow is scheming against me again..."
The Life Entity thought, feeling it should find the time to give Tony a good beating. But it quickly grew discouraged, because there were truly few who dared to lay a hand on Tony.
As for those who dared to strike heavily, the Life Entity was unwilling to deal with such overly dangerous individuals.
For a moment, the Life Entity fell into deep thought.
The fierce battle raged on.
The great war between the dozen or so White Lanterns and Nekron forced the many spectators to retreat. They stood in the distance, their expressions solemn as they watched the battlefield flickering between black and white.
If Tony and the others could win, if Nekron was defeated once more, the Blackest Night would end, and all living beings would welcome a precious era of light and peace.
But if they failed...
Everyone silently looked toward the Life Entity in the sky, hopeful. This white bird had not yet acted, yet simply distributing a few White Lantern Rings was enough to harm Nekron. If it were to act personally...
Boom!
Nekron was pushed into a sorry state by the group of White Lanterns. His black skeletal body was already showing clear signs of dissolving, and the dense aura of Death was dissipating under the White Lanterns' attacks.
Every clash caused him to permanently lose a portion of his power, which made Nekron feel a sense of unease.
Nekron glared at the Life Entity in the sky with anger and resentment. Suddenly, he froze. A glint flashed in his deep-set eyes, as if he had thought of something.
In an instant, the countless Black Lantern zombies in the Prime Universe suddenly ceased their actions, immediately turned, and surged towards Earth!
In just a few seconds, the space around Earth was filled with a dense, tide-like army of Black Lanterns. Countless Black Lantern zombies shrieked, frantically lunging at Tony and the others.
Yes, Nekron had suddenly had an epiphany.
The Life Entity could find hired thugs to wear him down, so why couldn't he, the great Nekron, do the same!
When it comes to hired thugs, I, Nekron, have as many as I want!
At that moment, Nekron's intelligence seemed to skyrocket. He sent the surrounding White Lanterns flying with a swing of his scythe while secretly blaming himself.
Why did I have to fight personally?
That shameless Life Entity! Utterly shameless!
The slight turmoil in Nekron's heart was quickly cast aside as he charged toward Tony with a savage grin.
That's right. As Tony watched the corners of Nekron's mouth stiffly pull into a grin, he could clearly read the savagery in the expression.
Cursing inwardly, Tony shouted, "Max, Bobby, Bumblebee, Shockwave, stop these filthy zombies!"
Four figures immediately broke away from the core battlefield and shot off in four different directions. They created a powerful barrier of white light, which instantly collided with the countless Black Lantern zombies.
The Life Entity was also scattering white light, annihilating countless zombies every second, but cannon fodder was the one thing Nekron did not lack.
"You can find hired thugs to stop me, and I can find cannon fodder to wear you down."
Nekron raised his scythe horizontally, staring blankly at the Life Entity.
The Life Entity understood in an instant. It couldn't help but flap its wings twice before returning to its eternally placid state. Inwardly, however, it grunted twice in displeasure.
It felt a great sense of crisis. Nekron had actually gotten smarter...
Wave after wave from the ocean of zombies charged ferociously, only to be annihilated like smoke before the white light. But their terrifyingly endless numbers and their relentless, sacrificial charges would sooner or later deplete the energy in the White Lantern Rings.
They still had to rely on the Life Entity...
Tony smashed a fist into Nekron's shoulder with a ferocious expression, viciously tearing it open before pulling back.
Nekron's expression didn't change as his injuries healed instantly, but Tony keenly noticed that the speed of his recovery seemed to have slowed by a few nanoseconds...
A dozen beams of white light blasted Nekron's body. Even someone as strong as Nekron was gradually beginning to falter. The zombie army he had placed his hopes on was unable to break through the area of white light and could only serve as attrition.
Nekron knew that he had lost again. He feared he wouldn't be able to last until the moment the white light was breached.
"Why..." Nekron's voice was incredibly low.
He felt he should have won.
He lost the first time, and now he was actually about to lose a second time.
Losing the first time was one thing; he had been fighting the White Light of Creation at its peak.
But this time... his opponent was merely the Life Entity... just a leftover scrap of the White Light of Creation...
After this defeat, how long would he have to sleep before he could reawaken?
Within Nekron's heart, a wave of indignation actually stirred.
"I'll tell you why!"
Tony sneered, knocking Nekron back with a single punch. All the white light sheathing his fist blasted into Nekron's body, causing the powerful Nekron to stagger.
"Life will always be one with miracles! Miracles will stand on the side of life, not Death!"
"Of course, that's secondary."
Tony knocked Nekron's scythe away. The scythe flew through the air, easily tearing a rift in the light, and a swarm of Black Lantern zombies poured in frantically.
"Your greatest mistake was that I set my sights on you."
Tony clenched his fist. The White Lantern Ring erupted with a blinding light, and a beam of energy struck Nekron. The other dozen or so White Lanterns also created beams that blasted into Nekron's body.
Nekron, who was shrouded in darkness, was instantly devoured by the light. His entire body dimmed in an instant as the darkness was eroded, covered by an increasingly dazzling white light.
His aura dissipated rapidly. His final gaze, empty and cold, fell upon Tony.
And Tony simply responded with a big middle finger.
And on that middle finger was the glowing White Lantern Ring.
With a tremendous boom, Nekron completely dissipated, buried by the white light.
