Chapter 797

Chapter 781: Superboy-Prime, Your Whole Family Exploded!

2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit

Superboy-Prime was livid.

Although he was short-tempered and would explode at the slightest provocation—getting livid wasn't a rare occurrence—he swore that this time, he was truly about to lose his mind.

Superboy-Prime angrily threw down the latest issue of the comic.

"Blackest Night! Dammit, you idiots must be insane!! You actually drew me into it!!!"

Infuriated and exasperated, Superboy-Prime roared, smashed through the roof, and shot directly into the sky. In an instant, he broke through the atmosphere into the cosmos and leaped into an unknown dimension.

Many Earthlings pointed and gawked, occasionally exclaiming "Superpowers!" Unsurprisingly, government officials immediately issued a denial, claiming they were testing holographic projection technology and concealing the reality of Superboy-Prime's existence as a walking, humanoid anti-matter bomb.

With a boom, the Fourth Wall was breached. Superboy-Prime, seething with rage, wished he could annihilate this bunch of fabricating scumbags with a blast of heat vision.

With a loud bang, the door to the Editorial Department was kicked down once again.

"What the hell are you trying to do?! Are you looking for death?! Drawing the Blackest Night is one thing, but you actually put me in danger?!"

Superboy-Prime cursed angrily.

In the latest issue, he saw that his life was actually in danger. But when he hastily flipped to the end, the issue was already over.

"Your Excellency Superboy, please calm down. We are just faithfully reflecting the events happening in the multiverse in the comic..."

"Bullshit! And don't call me Superboy!"

Superboy-Prime swore.

The editor's expression darkened, his brow furrowed, as he tried to placate the enraged Superboy. "Our ability to control characters isn't omnipotent. Besides, you're in the Prime Universe now, the safest place in the entire multiverse. No matter how strong Nekron is, it's impossible for him to detect... holy sh—"

The entire Editorial Department suddenly fell silent. Everyone turned in unison to look behind Superboy-Prime, their gazes vacant, revealing shock and incredulous horror.

"What are you all looking at?"

A sense of danger immediately put Superboy-Prime on high alert. The hair on his body stood on end, and the cold touch on his back made his expression change drastically.

He whipped around. A figure was standing silently behind him, so quiet and still that he had no idea when it had appeared.

"You..."

Superboy's face was cold, his sixth sense screaming warnings at him.

The entire Editorial Department suddenly became dead silent. All the editors stared blankly at the zombie.

"Blech!"

The zombie gave them a grotesque smile, its mouth stretching unnaturally wide, and then promptly vomited a mouthful of black blood.

Within the black blood, after a moment of stillness, numerous bumps began to form. One by one, Black Lantern Rings were rapidly taking shape.

Boom!

Superboy's face was ashen. He immediately fired a blast of heat vision, blowing the zombie before him to bits. Of course, it was useless; the Black Lantern instantly reformed.

A large number of Black Lantern Rings took shape and then frantically lunged at the members of the Editorial Department!

The Editorial Department descended into chaos!

Papers flew everywhere. The group of weakling editors roared in terror, grabbing desks and chairs, their faces a mixture of fear, ferocity, and determination.

"Dammit! What the hell went wrong?!"

"The Editorial Department is protected by the Fourth Wall! Even the One-Above-Alls would be affected by it! Without understanding the Fourth Wall, their will is shielded and subtly distorted by it, making the Editorial Department even more concealed. But... but how did the Black Lanterns find us?!"

"The Editorial Department is directly connected to the Prime Universe!"

"Then there's no way the Prime Universe should have been found by the Black Lantern Rings so quickly!! Even the fucking One-Above-Alls can't find the Prime Universe!"

"The Prime Universe and the Fourth Wall... such an extravagant double layer of security! How did it become so fragile?"

"You all might have forgotten that the Fourth Wall was just smashed open by someone..." someone said weakly.

Superboy-Prime's face darkened.

*So this is my fault?*

"Also, the reason Superboy-Prime was able to return to the Prime Universe was, apparently, because someone threw him back... He's been running wild in the multiverse for so long, as long as Nekron isn't an idiot, he would definitely know about him..."

The editors in the front were fighting a bloody battle against a swarm of rings, with people turning into Black Lanterns from time to time. Meanwhile, the editors in the back were directing resentful gazes toward Superboy, stares as sharp as swords, their grievances soaring to the heavens.

In short, while the Editorial Department wouldn't be completely wiped out this time, it was certain they would be severely weakened.

"Let the Larval Entity out," an editor said, looking up at the ceiling.

"Are you sure we can control that terrifying thing?"

Another editor knocked down his former colleague—who had been jabbering in front of him—with a stool and began desperately smashing the zombified corpse.

"Even if we become Black Lanterns, there's still a chance for revival. Worst-case scenario, we can just draw an issue on the spot, create some plot holes, and have a White Lantern Ring or the Editor-in-Chief resurrect us... But if we release the Larval Entity now... we might really be done for, and with a high probability at that..."

The Editorial Department was quickly overrun. Even though Superboy-Prime's combat power was immense, he had no way to completely destroy the Black Lanterns and could only watch as his enemies revived again and again.

Fortunately, with Superboy-Prime drawing the siege of the vast majority of the Black Lanterns, the Editorial Department was able to survive a little longer.

Finally, an editor hiding and trembling under a desk couldn't take it anymore. He scrambled out, red-eyed, and lunged toward a certain spot in the Editorial Department, fumbling for something.

"I can't stand it anymore! I'd rather be killed by the Larval Entity than become a disgusting Black Lantern!"

The man cried and cursed, "Superboy-Prime, you son of a bitch, screw your whole family! This is all your fault!"

BOOM!

An explosion comparable to a small nuclear blast erupted. Red light swept out as an infuriated Superboy-Prime created a powerful explosion with his heat vision to get some breathing room. He turned back, his expression grim.

"No one with the surname Kent is any good! I won't let you off even in death! If I'm going down, we're all going down together! Superboy, you're toast! Your whole family is toast!"

The man kept fumbling for something in the air. No one stopped him, but likewise, no one had a hopeful expression. On the contrary, every face was etched with despair.

Finally, the man seemed to have grabbed hold of something. He gave a fierce tug, and in the unseen realm, something was pulled out.

An invisible, subtle wave spread out, like something was probing, or perhaps like a rigid program instinctively scanning the situation.

All the Black Lanterns suddenly stopped what they were doing. In unison, they turned their heads to look at the editor, their hollow eyes staring intently at the "air" in his hands.

*Whoosh!*

Silently, the Black Lanterns paused for a moment as if they had received a signal. One by one, they began to withdraw from the Editorial Department without a sound, not even sparing a thought for their favorite meal: the hearts of the living.

Superboy's temper flared. He roared and gave chase, slaughtering the Black Lanterns wantonly. The group fought their way further and further away, the sounds of battle gradually fading.

A long time later, the sweat-drenched editor collapsed onto the floor. He wiped the tears from his face and let out a long sigh of relief.

"We survived, we survived..." the man whispered, looking at his hands and then at the relieved yet wary gazes around him. He couldn't help but sigh. "We were just in time. If we had been a few seconds later, that thing would have gotten out, and we all would have been finished."

"Put it back quickly! That thing is more dangerous than a bomb."

Someone commanded, then immediately lowered their voice as if afraid of waking something. "By the way, this Larval Entity... does it have a name?"

"It does. I've already thought of one."

The editor fumbled with the air again, let out a long breath, and said quietly, "Original Beyonder... this Larval Entity's name is... the Original Beyonder."
