Chapter 782

Chapter 766: Spectrum War (2)

Atrocitus's heart was filled with boundless rage. Originally named Atros, a kind-hearted psychologist, he had gone mad many years ago.

This leader of The Five Inversions officially began his plan of revenge the moment he obtained the Red Lantern Ring by blood-sacrificing his other four members.

From the moment Atrocitus emerged from the spiritual sea of blood, a red Power Battery had appeared in his hands, along with the blood-colored ring that was already on his finger.

"The deaths of you four have granted me the power for my revenge. Rest in peace, my brothers and sisters. I will personally take the heads of those hypocrites as an offering to you, and to the trillions of lives slaughtered in all of Sector 666."

The thumping of his heart beat in unison with his ring, a pulsation of life.

Atrocitus was a paranoid madman. When he heard the whispers from the great beyond, he didn't hesitate to kill the four companions who had survived, eked out an existence, and resisted the Guardians alongside him. He dismembered their bodies, drained their blood, and immersed himself in a pool of it, using their blood to sacrifice to Rage.

Imbued with infinite Rage, the Red Lantern Corps was born in Atrocitus's hands and expanded madly.

"Oa, I, Atrocitus, have come! You will pay an eternal price for your transgressions!!!"

Atrocitus's face was ferocious. His lipless mouth revealed rows of sharp, dense teeth. This was a man bent on revenge, one who would not even spare his own life; he would give anything to destroy Oa.

Countless red figures took flight from the planet Ysmault, where Atrocitus had been imprisoned for ages, flying toward Oa with savage sneers.

"We will not lose. This is destined to be our war."

Atrocitus raised his palm high, the ring shining with a blood-red light that shot into the heavens. Above him, a dense swarm of Red Lantern members roared as they flew toward their target. Their glowing, blood-red eyes brewed a heart-stopping Rage.

The Red Lantern of Rage plunges its user into a state of perpetual anger. The Rage assaults their sanity. If a user's Willpower is not firm, they will eventually become a beast controlled by endless Rage, their only remaining purpose in life being to kill.

But Atrocitus couldn't care less. He only cared about how many Green Lanterns his subordinates could kill.

"My Blood Magic has prophesied an even vaster war!"

Atrocitus roared, "Those despicable things will even need our help to survive, to continue maintaining their hypocritical facade! And what we must do is tear their faces to shreds and torture their souls!"

Atrocitus, a master of Blood Magic, had long since learned the hidden details of the Blackest Night. Although the information wasn't entirely detailed, the revival of the Black Lanterns was no longer a secret to him.

Atrocitus was more than happy to make the first move and ignite the Spectrum War. Killing a few Guardians as an appetizer before the main course would be perfect.

After all, Oa didn't dare to kill him, but he could slaughter those on Oa without restraint.

Damn the risks, damn the pointless tacit agreements—Atrocitus threw it all to the back of his mind. He was controlled by the fires of Rage, and the thirst for vengeance had long since overwhelmed everything else.

Most importantly, Atrocitus's own sanity was also intentionally following the guidance of his Rage—Kill!

Atrocitus finally left Sector 666. He looked at the grand army he had raised from various planets, a red light glowing in his eyes as droplets of blood energy floated before him.

Their real blood had long been drained by the Red Lantern Rings, replaced by this red liquid that resembled blood.

Following the Sinestro Corps War, which raised the curtain on the Spectrum War, Atrocitus the revenger finally and formally ignited the grand drama of the Spectrum War.

Countless red figures streaked across the universe. A monstrous Rage spread throughout the Prime Universe. The inhabitants of planet after planet raised their heads to watch the strange red lights streaking like meteors across the night sky, a sense of unease spreading in their hearts.

The red lights dotted the universe, serving only as an insignificant prelude to a much larger war.

"Guardians of the Universe!!!"

Atrocitus roared. The demonic, twisted and ferocious bodies of his followers tensed, their eyes bloodshot. Howling, he led his legion to charge... a small squad of Green Lanterns.

This was the squad escorting the criminal Sinestro. Atrocitus had chosen this group as his target.

Unfortunately, he had chosen wrong.

"Sinner Atrocitus! You have murdered countless beings, your crimes are monstrous! The Green Lantern Corps will now pass judgment upon you!"

Countless Green Lanterns who had been lying in ambush on a nearby planet took flight, whistling through space as they charged the Red Lantern Corps. Although the scale of the Red Lantern Corps and their unprecedented, rage-fueled rings stunned these Lanterns, who were unaware of the full story, duty called. They faithfully obeyed the orders of the Guardians and engaged the Red Lantern Corps in a fierce clash.

Amidst the roaring din, Sinestro, inside his prison, slowly stood up. He shattered the small cage with a single punch. A Green Lantern Ring was on his hand, and a mocking smile played on his lips as he watched the heated battlefield.

"Even the Guardians have joined the battle. How ironic..."

Sinestro suddenly felt like laughing. He had no idea what these insane Guardians had been busy with for the past ten billion years or so.

When enemies meet, their eyes blaze with hatred. Atrocitus let out a roar and actually abandoned the Guardians to attack Sinestro.

"Sinestro, you should have expected this day when you suppressed The Five Inversions!!! I was nailed to a cross and made to suffer endlessly, and it's all thanks to you!"

Atrocitus clenched his fist and aimed his ring at Sinestro, creating a massive torrent of red plasma that formed into a savage, giant beast.

But Sinestro simply kept dodging, watching coldly from the sidelines.

"Sinestro, I order you to join the battle! This is your chance to atone!" a Guardian rebuked angrily.

The Scarred Guardian's gaze was icy as he said in a low voice, "At the very least, we should eradicate the Red Lantern Corps first. They are our common enemy..."

The Scarred Guardian emphasized the word 'our'.

Sinestro's eyes shifted. He gave the Scarred Guardian a deep look. Cunning as he was, he was now completely certain that something was wrong with the Scarred Guardian.

With a cold laugh, Sinestro flew high into the sky and sent a symbol into the depths of the universe. It was a signal. Those still loyal to him were now rushing to his side.

The remnants of the Sinestro Corps had also joined the battle.

"Damn it! You've violated our agreement!"

"Sinestro! You madman!"

The Guardians all roared in anger.

Green Lantern, Yellow Lantern, Red Lantern—the chaotic battle between the three great corps instantly reached a fever pitch. Lantern after Lantern fought hysterically to the death. The emotions of willpower, fear, and rage intertwined, creating an even greater storm.

"They should be making their move soon, too..."

Sinestro blocked Atrocitus's blood beast and looked off into the distance.

The leaders of these corps all understood that the Spectrum War was a complete waste of time.
