Chapter 763: I'll Search Again
Tony suddenly made his move. Facing the boundless darkness before him, he erupted, bombarding this sealed space-time with the divine power of a Singular God.
A massive amount of blackness swept over, continuously surrounding Tony and compressing him bit by bit. If he didn't resist, it seemed Tony would be crushed into a singularity.
"I guess I've fallen into this trap for the Anti-Monitor. Sooner or later, I'll make the Anti-Monitor pay me back with interest!"
With a cold expression, Tony began a fierce battle with the vast and endless black light. Omens of death assaulted him in waves under the bleak, sunless expanse, grating on his sensitive nerves. As alarm bells shrieked in his mind, a sense of suffocation washed over him.
The one who was supposed to be targeted by Nekron and imprisoned by the darkness should have been the Anti-Monitor, who was heavily injured after being betrayed and sneak-attacked by Superboy-Prime.
In reality, the high-ranking members of the Yellow Lantern Corps formed by Sinestro were extremely terrifying; he had recruited almost the entire High Council of Qward.
On top of that, there was a group of ruthless characters like Cyborg Superman, Mongul, and Superboy-Prime, as well as a group of elite Yellow Lanterns like Bedovian that Sinestro had won over. Even the shameless Anti-Monitor had put on a Yellow Lantern Power Ring, personally rolling up his sleeves to join the fray.
The Sinestro Corps War didn't just erupt on Oa and Qward; it also dragged Earth into the conflict. Superhero teams like the Justice League and Teen Titans all joined the battle, and numerous supervillains also threw themselves into the war.
Had it not been for Tony's presence in the Main Universe, which made the nervous Anti-Monitor prefer wandering the Blood Realm over setting foot in the Main Universe, the ferocity of the war would have escalated dramatically.
Because of Tony, the Anti-Monitor was determined to protect the secret of the Anti-Life Equation and was unwilling to face a Singular God. With no confidence, Sinestro didn't dare to attack Earth.
The scale of the war was thus limited to the vicinity of Oa.
But it seemed that without the Anti-Monitor to take the fall, Tony had become an even better target. To Nekron, a Singular God was nothing, no different in essence from any other multiversal being.
After all, he just needed a life form to serve as the Central Power Battery...
Piercing rumbling sounds rang out continuously. Waves of energy, each powerful enough to easily destroy planets and extinguish the sun, spread out, causing large swathes of the dark region to tremble faintly.
Tony's expression was solemn, his gaze lowered. Singularity particles surged around him as he relied on his own power to forcibly withstand the endless invasion of dark light from all directions.
"Become my Power Battery, and I shall grant you peace..." an indistinct voice said intermittently.
Tony replied without hesitation, "Become my Power Ring, and I shall graciously bestow life upon you."
Nekron fell silent.
He felt there was no need to argue with an idiot.
In any case, Darkness had already covered everything.
Tony's gaze was grave as he shattered the waves of incoming black light. The silence was absolute, so profound that even the flow of space-time ceased. The shifting of nearby dimensions suddenly vanished. It was a stillness that transcended countless tiers and broke numerous concepts.
It was utterly terrifying.
"This pressure is overwhelming. No wonder that even with the assembled powerhouses of the Seven Lanterns, they couldn't harm a single hair on the newly revived Nekron's head."
Tony's expression was grim. This was merely a half-asleep Nekron. If he were to truly awaken...
I'm afraid that even if Singular Gods were to arrive, all but the few at the very apex would be forced to their knees.
Tony's eyes flickered. He suppressed the stirring impulse to use the Allspark to turn the tables. Instead, he silently fought the Darkness, his gaze sweeping the area, searching for anything of value.
If he could find a medium or a core, this trip wouldn't be in vain. Otherwise, his only option was to retreat. No matter how strong Tony was, he would be doomed if he continued to waste his power here for nothing.
In his current state, Nekron definitely couldn't stop him from leaving.
But...
Without a word, Tony suddenly charged into the depths of the Darkness. With every move, he blasted away large swathes of black light.
His palm opened slightly, and a Yellow Lantern and an Orange Lantern Power Ring appeared in his hand.
The moment the two common light Power Rings appeared, the entire expanse of Darkness froze for an instant. Then, as if a hornet's nest had been poked, a tremendous roar echoed out. The entire Darkness erupted into a frenzy, surging toward Tony with even greater violence.
The terrifying pressure skyrocketed. The entire Black Lantern region began to compress wildly, gradually taking the shape of a Power Battery. And Tony was sealed in the center of this black Power Battery.
Tony silently endured the immense pressure, observing his surroundings and personally experiencing the dreadful majesty emanating from Nekron.
Soon, he would be fighting Nekron to the death, face-to-face. Now was the perfect opportunity to learn more about him.
"If I were really to be transformed into a black Power Battery..."
For an instant, this thought flashed through Tony's mind. He pondered the possibility but quickly abandoned the idea.
Nekron wasn't that stupid; he wouldn't give him a chance to turn the tables under these circumstances.
An incessant rumbling echoed as the area Tony could perceive shrank rapidly. A gigantic black Power Battery was taking shape. Tony felt like an ant trapped in a bottle, facing a vast world alone, yet completely unable to move.
After waiting a little longer, Tony looked regretful. "Still nothing... No Emotional Spectrum, no Core of Death."
Time to go...
Tony looked around with a serious expression. He grabbed a wisp of black light as a Mother Box appeared in his hand. With a fierce collision, it devoured the black light. Before Nekron could react, the three Mother Boxes collided again. White light shot out, and a blinding tunnel brutally pierced through the giant Power Battery, leading to the outside world.
Faintly, Nekron's roar could be heard.
Tony stepped into the Boom Tube. If he didn't leave now, it would be too late.
*Creeaak...*
The Darkness raged, assaulting the Mother Box. The Boom Tube shook violently, showing signs of collapsing.
Tony took one last look back at the Power Battery, his gaze profound. Then, he turned, and his entire figure disappeared into the Boom Tube.
A deafening crash echoed as the Boom Tube shattered. Having lost its target, the Darkness came to a complete standstill. The interior of the Power Battery was empty, desperately needing someone to serve as its core.
A palpable malice swept out in all directions. Across the entire Main Universe, living beings suddenly felt a wave of inexplicable palpitations and panic, as if they had encountered their natural predator. Countless people trembled, their bodies rigid, their very souls frozen solid.
The half-asleep Nekron was clearly very unhappy. The energy source he had his eye on had escaped, and the formation of the Central Power Battery was forced to a halt.
"I'll search again..."
The indistinct voice muttered softly.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the Main Universe, at a secret Asgardian stronghold.
Hela, the Goddess of Death, wore a furious expression as she wielded a longsword in a fierce battle against three old women in black robes.
"You three old hags are courting death! How dare you have designs on Asgard!"
