Chapter 762: The Revived Black Power Battery!
Tony didn't alert anyone, quietly leaving the planet Cybertron.
The nearly five hundred million inhabitants of this planet were still living their leisurely lives. A group of Transformers were discussing which flavor of super-energy crystals was tastier, while a group of Mutants and Kryptonians who had come over from a satellite were fretting over how to avoid the feet of these big guys.
Tony departed silently, heading into the pitch-black universe.
Something was calling out to him. It was... the scent of death.
It was a concept of death, more tyrannical than death itself, that was calling out to Tony.
Tony's expression was grim. As he took a step, countless galaxies were surpassed. The vast, star-studded universe had long seemed minuscule in Tony's eyes.
At least, it seemed fragile and weak before the impending catastrophe, before the terrifying creature that had already reawakened.
"Nekron... It's too early for him to awaken!"
Tony flew rapidly, his expression darkening slightly.
It was probably during the Sinestro Corps War. The clash of yellow and green, plus the Red Lantern Ring that came here from an alternate universe, had stimulated Nekron ahead of schedule.
What was even worse was that Nekron had set his sights on Tony.
Tony estimated that Nekron probably hadn't fully awakened yet and was only calling out to him through instinctual consciousness.
As for why he was calling...
Nekron needed a reliable Central Power Battery.
Locking Tony down as the Central Power Battery was undoubtedly a very valuable move. Sealing a singular god as the black Central Power Battery—such a power battery would be terrifying.
Tony also had the idea of screwing over Nekron first, so he went along with it and came over.
"Originally, the powerful Anti-Monitor was supposed to be locked into the black Power Battery. But because of me, the Anti-Monitor doesn't dare enter the Prime Universe, let alone join the Sinestro Corps... As for a life form more powerful and noble than the Anti-Monitor, it seems there's only me, this singular god."
Tony frowned slightly, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
He was also very interested in the Black Lanterns. This type of Lantern Ring had long been one of Tony's targets. The ridiculously powerful Black and White Lanterns were something he had to get his hands on.
A thing like a Lantern Ring, let alone in the Multiverse, would still be a divine artifact even if taken to the Sphere of the Gods; it could still be used at will.
With the Black and White Rings in hand, it would be like having two more multiversal-level divine artifacts.
As the distance closed little by little, layers of tangible and intangible barriers were broken through. Tony smashed a barrier enveloped by an aura of death with a single punch, arriving in a world of pitch black.
It wasn't the kind of black where one couldn't see their hand in front of their face, but a strange black that emitted a black light, a darkness that could reflect the forms of objects. This power, signifying death and revival, filled this hidden region without bounds, quietly waiting for something.
The moment Tony burst in, something seemed to tremble. An indescribably cold and obscure gaze fell upon Tony, flickering in and out of existence.
Sometimes it was there, sometimes it vanished.
"You wanted to see me. I'm here!"
Tony's face was cold, his entire being enveloped in darkness, shrouded by a mass of black light.
He listened intently, sensing that the vast and majestic unknown being was still half-asleep, perceiving Tony's aura in a hazy and indistinct manner.
Black is the mortal enemy of all visible light. The red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, and White Lanterns are all mortal enemies of the Black Lantern Ring.
In a distant era, when the Multiverse had just been born, darkness was the mainstream of all worlds. Back then, there was no so-called light; silence and tranquility were everything.
Until a brilliant white light imperiously pierced the darkness, illuminating all things in the world.
The darkness felt excruciating pain and was profoundly enraged. Filled with the rage of suffering an unprovoked disaster, it used the power it had accumulated for countless years to begin a bloody battle with the unknown white light. The first fierce battle between the black and white light erupted.
The final result was that the black light suffered such a tragic defeat that it was forced into slumber. The white light was severely wounded and directly disintegrated, splitting into seven parts.
For the most part, the original white light was victorious. Although it was small and faint, it had torn apart the boundless darkness and, on the verge of death, underwent fission to create seven types of power, allowing life to continue.
The so-called Spectrum War, hearing the name, it sounds magnificent—and to many people, it truly is. The war is grand, but in the eyes of a being like Tony, the Spectrum War is just a bunch of emotional guys playing house.
The true meaning of the Spectrum War is the reconvergence of the Seven Lanterns. Black will be stimulated to reawaken, and Nekron will wake from his eternal slumber, intending to destroy everything that shouldn't have existed and plunge the world back into darkness.
Silence and peace are the ultimate pursuits of darkness. Death and such are merely insignificant byproducts.
Death is just a free gift from the darkness.
"I understand your desire to completely kill the Life Entity, but you shouldn't have targeted me."
Suddenly, looking at this endless darkness, Tony abruptly let out a low laugh.
In this world of extreme tranquility, the laughter sounded incredibly piercing.
The Spectrum War was the prelude secretly pushed forward by Nekron for his own revival. Perhaps when he was beaten into a forced slumber by that inexplicably appearing white light, the foreshadowing for his revival had already been planted.
The darkness wants revenge. The spirit of darkness, the Black Lantern Entity, Nekron, wants to have another decisive battle with that damned white light, a battle to the death, until one side falls forever.
Last time, Nekron lost, but he refused to accept it. This time, he awakens with immense rage and a sense of mission, all to kill the White Lantern Entity, the Life Entity, and completely destroy the emotional spectrum of visible light.
"This was originally my world, a peaceful world without conflict, without turmoil, without Abomination... Everything should have fallen into eternal tranquility..."
A cold, indifferent voice, hazy and indistinct as if half-asleep, echoed in Tony's mind.
"But that intruder destroyed everything. It launched a despicable sneak attack on me, completely destroying the peace and serenity, filling this world with slaughter, plunder, blood, and wails of agony..."
"I will take back what belongs to me..."
Nekron was extremely unwilling to accept this, using a calm voice to engage in a one-sided communication with Tony.
He does not possess emotions like hatred or rage. He doesn't even have a soul, to the point that God's avatar of wrath, The Spectre, couldn't pass judgment on him and was completely countered by Nekron, defeated in an instant.
But the things he did were tangible acts of revenge against the white light.
Whether it was pushing for the reconvergence of the Seven Lanterns, forcing the outbreak of the Spectrum War, or reawakening to prepare for a battle to the death with the White Lantern, it was all to completely destroy the white light and drag the Multiverse back into a world of darkness.
"I need a Central Power Battery as a carrier for my revival... You are qualified to become my vessel."
The hazy voice spoke intermittently.
Tony just gave a cruel smile. "What a coincidence. I need a good-looking ring. You have the honor of becoming an ornament on my finger!"
