Chapter 760: Your Ring is Nice
When Starscream's figure appeared proudly on Cybertron, and the wantonly burning light of greed shone from him, Tony knew everything was about to begin.
"Green, Yellow, Red, Orange, Indigo… We now have five types of Lantern Rings in our hands."
Tony looked up at the posturing Starscream, a hint of helplessness flashing across his face before he fell into deep thought.
The Yellow Lantern Corps was already being secretly assembled. Although it didn't have many members, the framework was in place. With a single command, Yellow Lantern Rings could be distributed in batches, arming a group of individuals with a great capacity for oppression and instilling fear.
With five hundred million inhabitants on Cybertron, he could at least form a fear corps of several thousand members.
It was also time to recall Red Lantern Hulk. Control over the Red Power Battery needed to be taken immediately to forge more Red Lantern Rings.
As for the Indigo Tribe, there was no need to force things for now. The time wasn't right.
For the Orange Lantern Corps, Starscream needed to kill. The more he killed, the more numerous and powerful the corps' warriors would become.
Only the Green Lanterns…
The Central Power Battery was controlled by the Guardians. This was very troublesome, meaning that while Cybertron could use Green Lantern Rings, it couldn't manufacture them itself. At least, Tony did not hold the secrets of the green wavelength of the Emotional Spectrum.
"Only the Blue and Violet Lanterns are left… Soon. In a year at most, the great war will erupt."
Tony narrowed his eyes, watching as the sunlight intensified and the temperature rose, a sun still below the horizon slowly ascending.
To be honest, Tony really didn't care much about the Spectrum War. It was nothing more than a story about a bunch of emotionally charged people tearing each other apart.
Tony only needed to dispatch his legion—or, strictly speaking, just send Starscream to make a splash on the battlefield, throw a few punches to make his presence known, and that would be enough. The rest would naturally be handled by those who already harbored hatred.
Atrocitus, the lord of Rage, was probably in Sector 666 sharpening his blades, planning to kill his few remaining companions as a sacrifice to the abstract concept of Rage. This would trigger a response from the rage wavelength, granting him a Red Lantern Ring and a Red Power Battery.
The Yellow Light of Fear was represented by Sinestro. The Green Light of Will by Oa. The Blue Light of Hope by Ganthet. The Violet Light of Love by the Star Sapphires.
"The Spectrum War… I need to study the secrets of the Emotional Spectrum more deeply as well."
Tony paced back and forth in the magnificent hall, feeling a subtle sense of agitation.
"You've been pacing for over ten minutes. You're making my head spin."
Wanda casually tossed a magazine aside. Sitting on the sofa, she stretched lazily, her exquisite figure perfectly on display. The off-the-shoulder dress clung to her chest just right, accentuating her impressive physique.
Tony grunted twice, walked over, and buried his head deep into her chest, taking a long, deep breath.
"Still feeling anxious? This isn't like you."
Wanda thoughtfully massaged Tony's forehead with her fingers, her voice gentle.
"I'm just… a little worried. Nekron is too strong. Trying to snatch spoils from that guy is a nightmare-level difficulty."
Tony lifted his head, his brow tightly furrowed.
He couldn't care less about a squabble like the Spectrum War, which was like children playing house. He didn't even need to participate. He just had to wait until the Seven Lantern Corps were in chaotic battle and the Emotional Spectrum fluctuated due to the abundant emotional energy, then make direct contact with it to uncover some secrets.
But the Spectrum War was merely the prelude to the Blackest Night.
Nekron, the terrifying being that appeared in the night, was an absurdly powerful entity. If he hadn't been instantly killed by the Life Entity, no one would know how to defeat such a horrifying thing.
Even when going all out, The Spectre, one of the supreme beings, couldn't harm a single hair on the soulless Nekron.
When pushed to his limit, The Spectre was a being capable of killing even Darkseid's true form, yet he was completely countered by Nekron, so frustrated he could have almost spat blood.
Tony reckoned that even though both were deities presiding over death, Nekron would wipe the floor with Death.
Death was the deity controlling the final destination for the vast majority of life forms in the multiverse. But Nekron, that guy was the very concept of death and darkness itself. He had no soul, no emotion, yet he was somehow "alive."
Nekron was living "death."
"Is Nekron even stronger than the One-Above-All?" Wanda asked softly.
"It's not that simple. The One-Above-All also has varying levels of strength, but in terms of existence, the One-Above-All should have the advantage…"
Tony rubbed his brow.
He was also struggling with how to screw Nekron over without the Life Entity's interference, allowing himself to ascend to the infinite multiversal tier in one fell swoop.
The Blackest Night was the best opportunity Tony could think of to push him beyond his limits as a single entity, but this opportunity… was life-threatening.
He also had to act before the Life Entity revived, exploiting that window of time.
Once the Life Entity appeared and the White Lanterns were revived, life held an instantly fatal power over death.
Before the Life Entity, Nekron was utterly defenseless, the type to be instantly obliterated. The number one nemesis and greatest natural enemy of darkness is light.
Outside, a deafening roar could be heard. Starscream's showboating had finally drawn the dissatisfaction of a major figure.
Larfleeze was hugging one of Starscream's massive legs, staring at the towering and imposing Megatron ahead. His eyes widened in an instant.
"Infinity Stones!!!"
Larfleeze shrieked, his bloodshot eyes fixed on Megatron's hand, looking like they were about to pop out. He shook Starscream frantically. "The Infinity Stones really are on Cybertron! Starscream, help me get them, and Lord Larfleeze will..."
Bang!
Starscream kicked Larfleeze away with a look of disgust.
With a cry of pain, Larfleeze crashed into an innocent Transformer.
"Oh, damn it! You annoying grasshopper-like creature!" The innocent Jetfire climbed up from the ground, utterly furious.
"Ahem… Cough, cough, Lord Mega— I mean, Megatron, I, Starscream, have obtained the Orange Lantern Ring and possess great power..."
Starscream coughed twice, putting one hand behind his back and rubbing his chin with the other, trying to conceal his lack of confidence and project an image of strength.
"What are you trying to say?" Megatron sneered. The two Infinity Stones on his left hand emanated a chilling killing intent. The purple and yellow lights intertwined, instantly suppressing the orange light of greed.
A beam of purple light shot out and hit Starscream, its powerful binding force activating and pulling him through the air. As Starscream floated before him, Megatron's savage grin grew even wider.
"I mean, my lord, I, Starscream, have successfully completed my mission and have not brought shame to the Decepticons! With the Orange Lantern Ring in my hand, I believe it will be of even greater use…"
Megatron snatched the Orange Lantern Ring from him. After examining it for a moment, he said with a vicious smile, "You did very well, Starscream."
Starscream's heart skipped a beat. "My lord, that's my…"
"Excellent. Your ring is quite nice, but in the next second, it's mine!"
Megatron roared with laughter.
