Chapter 744: The Doom of Reverse-Flash (4)

Author: Great Demon Spirit

A countdown to death hung over Reverse-Flash's head like the Sword of Damocles.

The great battle among the Speedsters was unprecedentedly fierce, turning the entire Earth into a battlefield for those with super speed. His identity exposed, Reverse-Flash was now besieged by numerous Speedsters.

"If only I had a little more time…"

Reverse-Flash snarled, his eyes bloodthirsty, filled with immense resentment and unwillingness to concede.

He had been so close to succeeding—to gathering enough Speed Force and returning home.

But first came Tony's Deification, forcing him to alter his plans.

Then Smokescreen appeared, competing with him for the Speed Force emanating from The Flash.

Time and again, Reverse-Flash had been forced to revise his plans, making what was once simple increasingly complex, lowering his chances of success and forcing him to reveal more flaws.

Until Cisco completely tore away his disguise.

Reverse-Flash's plan was never that sophisticated; in fact, it was somewhat simple and crude. But he had no choice. To collect the Speed Force, he had to target Barry; besides Barry, there wasn't another Speedster on the entire Earth.

"Barry! This isn't the end! The fight between you and me will never be over!"

With bloodshot eyes, Reverse-Flash gritted his teeth and roared as he ran, throwing a punch at The Flash. His incredible speed allowed him to unleash thousands of punches in a single second.

Bang!

Superman flew in, sending Reverse-Flash flying with one punch while catching The Flash with his other hand.

"Are you all right, pal?"

Clark asked, his expression grave.

The Flash silently shook his head, gave it a quick shake, and rapidly caught up with Reverse-Flash.

The two Speedsters clashed once more. In a flicker of movement, they crossed thousands of miles, their battle over the ocean surface triggering a massive tsunami.

Smokescreen and the others could only helplessly try to contain the scale of the tsunami to prevent catastrophic damage to the surface world.

"You shouldn't have killed my mother!" The Flash roared, madly chasing Reverse-Flash's retreating figure.

While speeding along, Reverse-Flash turned his head to look at him, a crazed smile on his face. "You've already learned how to time travel from me. Why don't you go back to the past and save your mother?"

The Flash said nothing. He caught up and slammed a brutal punch into Reverse-Flash's side. Reverse-Flash's body was sent flying sideways for over a thousand meters, carving a long trench in the surface of the sea.

The tons of seawater on either side paused for a moment before seemingly catching up, roaring as they surged back to fill the deep trench. The violent backflow of water kicked up massive waves.

Rip!

Reverse-Flash's Cowl was torn off, revealing the face of Dr. Harrison.

For an instant, Barry's memories seemed to blur. The figures of Harrison and Thawne were separating, but in the next moment, they merged back into one!

Thud!

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Barry viciously attacked Reverse-Flash, smashing punch after punch into his face, leaving his cheeks battered and bruised.

"Didn't I teach you not to show mercy to your enemies?"

Reverse-Flash spat out a mouthful of blood and sneered. Then, as if he had just remembered, he said with sudden realization, "Oh, I forgot. I'm Dr. Harrison. The real Harrison would never teach you to kill. It's a pity. After all these years, I still haven't changed you. You're still that same naively foolish superhero."

Barry took off his Cowl. A viciousness he never had before tinged his expression. He stared with fierce eyes, one hand gripping Reverse-Flash's neck as he swiftly raised the other.

Vmmmmmm...

Empowered by the Speed Force, Barry's left hand began to vibrate rapidly, blurring from the sheer velocity. At this frequency, his hand was capable of slicing through most forms of matter.

Against a human body, it would be fatal.

Reverse-Flash looked at Barry with a cold smile. "Go on, do it. Why not kill me and avenge your mother? Just like how I killed her in front of you when you were five?"

Barry's grip subconsciously tightened, choking Reverse-Flash until he couldn't breathe.

Yet Reverse-Flash continued to look at him with mocking eyes, a faint hint of anticipation in their depths.

He longed to change something, even if that change was minuscule.

But it didn't happen.

Thump!

Barry slowed the vibration of his hand and struck Reverse-Flash's brain hard, knocking him unconscious for a short time.

Gasping breaths sounded out. Barry clutched his head in anguish, drenched in sweat, his eyes bloodshot and his heart pounding wildly.

"You did the right thing."

Clark flew to Barry's side and said in a solemn voice.

A moment ago, he had been genuinely worried that Barry would kill Reverse-Flash in a fit of rage. Fortunately, that terrible outcome didn't happen, and he hadn't lost a good comrade.

"I really wanted to kill him!" Barry growled through gritted teeth, like a wounded beast.

Clark said seriously, "You've already won. You personally captured him. We can imprison him for life, let time be his torment."

Barry lowered his head, silent.

According to the rules of the Justice League, unless an enemy is accidentally killed in the heat of battle, they should be captured alive if at all possible.

This was a Justice League rule. Originally, Clark and the others hadn't followed it; it was Batman who first proposed it.

When a group of super-powered individuals gathers, they can destroy buildings or even entire cities at a whim. Someone like The Flash can even travel through time. Therefore, Batman felt that certain fundamental lines should not be crossed.

This was very much in line with Batman's style. He doesn't trust people's hearts, preferring to use rules pieced together from words to restrain them.

Originally, Batman also used to kill. When he got ruthless, he had personally killed quite a few people in the past.

But he was, after all, within the category of a mortal, while people like Barry were not.

"You're the victor, Barry. You personally captured a murderer from across time. He will be severely punished. Killing him now would only stain your hands with unnecessary blood."

Clark advised in a low voice.

After a long while, Barry slowly got up. With his head lowered and his emotions barely calm, he looked at Reverse-Flash lying on the ground showing signs of waking, and without hesitation, punched him again.

Reverse-Flash was knocked out again.

Knocking out a Speedster was a tricky business. The Speed Force could rapidly heal any of a Speedster's injuries, so Barry needed to land a few punches periodically to ensure Reverse-Flash didn't wake up.

"What did it feel like the first time you killed someone?" Barry suddenly asked.

Clark was taken aback for a moment before replying, "When I killed aliens, I felt nothing. But when I killed an earthling, I felt like I had killed a part of myself."

"Then the Avengers must have died countless times over by now. Just because they're government employees, they don't have to worry so much?"

Barry's face was devoid of expression.

"Didn't we already discuss this issue during the last Civil War? No one has the right to kill, but when it's absolutely necessary, a choice must be made."

"But you have other options now. There's no need to resort to killing criminals. That's not our style in the Justice League."
