Chapter 759

Chapter 743: Reverse-Flash's Doom (3)

2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit

Some people are tragedies from birth.

Reverse-Flash was a prime example.

He longed to become a superhero who surpassed The Flash, but he could never escape The Flash's shadow. Unwilling to accept this, he ran frantically, traversing countless timelines of the past and future, only to realize with despair that on every single one, he was destined to be The Flash's mortal enemy.

Even though he had never once met The Flash, the countless possibilities of the past and future clearly told him: "You, Thawne, are destined to be The Flash's mortal enemy."

And so, he did just that, resolutely embarked on the path of becoming The Flash's enemy.

While Fate had cruelly toyed with him, it was also true that a deep-seated jealousy and hatred for The Flash festered within him.

When one dream is shattered, a new dream might not be grander, but it would inevitably be compared to the shattered one.

Reverse-Flash placed the blame for his own corruption squarely on The Flash.

"I was born good, but some scumbag named The Flash corrupted me."

Therefore, he had to kill The Flash.

A cool breeze blew. Thawne, hands in his pockets, turned around. His clean leather shoes stepped onto the cooling coffee. The smile on his lips slowly faded as his icy gaze swept forward.

"No one understands you better than I do, Barry," Thawne said with a cold smile that was either mockery or something else entirely.

"So this is how you deceive us?! So you killed my mother and framed my father, sending him to prison for over twenty years?!"

Barry, clad in his red battlesuit, glared with bloodshot eyes, every capillary visible in their depths. His heart was flooded with pain and disappointment.

Thawne wanted to laugh, but in the end, he didn't.

"Come on. Kill me. Avenge your mother."

Thawne challenged.

BOOM!

A turbulent blast of ominous, deep red electric arcs erupted, and Thawne's figure vanished. Countless arcs of electricity ground against the air, causing a massive shift in unknown particles.

Barry forcefully pulled on his red hood. Yellow electric arcs surged wildly from his eyes like a tidal wave released from a dam. The Speed Force within him began to boil like scalding water, a raging fire consuming everything as rage and grief constantly challenged Barry's sanity.

That sanity was called, "Do not kill."

Red and yellow intertwined as countless illusory shadows tangled together. The two top speedsters on Earth had completely torn away their vague disguises and were engaging in their final battle.

The Flash and Reverse-Flash, this pair of opponents destined to be arch-enemies, erupted into their final battle.

Electric arcs flickered wildly. The scene of flashing lightning and roaring thunder was like the God of Thunder descending upon the world. The yellow and red lightning shot from the ground to the sky, not only dyeing the dark heavens a bloody color, but also, like a clap of thunder in the night, illuminating a world shrouded in darkness.

Yellow thunder and red lightning erupted completely, crossing countless timelines.

The maximum speed of the two speedsters had already skyrocketed to five thousand times the speed of sound. Their figures were a complete blur. In an instant, they ran from one end of the Earth to the other. The entire planet suddenly seemed incredibly small, becoming nothing more than a trivial racetrack in their eyes.

Five thousand times the speed of sound, to be honest, was nothing special, but it was the maximum speed the current Reverse-Flash and The Flash could achieve.

Originally, they could have both become faster, surpassing the pitiful unit of the speed of sound and advancing towards multiples of light speed.

Light speed is 880,000 times the speed of sound. A mere 5,000 times the speed of sound was truly a far cry from that.

Their speed was still increasing, but the rate of increase had clearly slowed.

Looking down from the sky, one would see two long dragons of different colors racing madly across the surface of the spherical Earth. The ground seemed to be sliced open, and the clouds in the atmosphere were torn apart by streaks of red and yellow.

A piercing roar echoed. When their speed increased to thousands of times the speed of sound, the sonic boom from a simple run could easily blow away half a city. Even skyscrapers made of reinforced concrete couldn't withstand the hurricane-force winds generated by the speedsters' sprint.

This was merely at the speed of sound stage. If they reached light speed...

However, today, one of them was destined never to break through to light speed.

Between them, one would surely die.

Reverse-Flash was all alone, but The Flash was not.

A pale blue electric arc flashed by. Although slightly slower than the other two, it could still barely keep up.

Smokescreen strode forward on his four-meter-long legs, stomping furiously on the ground. A single casual kick could create a deep crater. His incredible frequency made him like a plow, turning over the earth wherever he went.

A red cape fluttered in the wind. Earth's superheroes also sprang into action. The fastest among them, Superman, was in hot pursuit, and he had caught up to the speedsters' pace.

The current Clark, having been injected with the Doomsday cells Tony had left for him, had undergone a higher level of evolution. He successfully unlocked his internal potential, and his life tier had taken a massive leap forward.

Although he wasn't a speedster, he possessed speed on par with them. Of course, he was still a long way from reaching the level of light speed.

The entire Earth had become a private playground for beings with super speed. Countless figures raced about, their forms appearing in every corner of the globe.

Reverse-Flash's situation was becoming increasingly dire.

And these were only the ones who had taken action. Many more were watching coldly from the sidelines, observing him with indifference.

Kamar-Taj, Wizard Shazam... many were watching him ruthlessly. If Reverse-Flash truly did something insane, even more people would step in to kill him.

The moment Reverse-Flash's identity was exposed, his fate was sealed.

Just like the scenes he had witnessed across countless timelines, Reverse-Flash was always destined to lose to The Flash. No matter the reason, Reverse-Flash was always the one who lost.

Glancing back, Reverse-Flash's red-glowing eyes flickered with a bloodthirsty and defiant glint. He already understood that his fate would be the same as his other selves: failure.

"No one can kill me!"

Reverse-Flash roared, his eyes red. He furiously squeezed every last drop of the Speed Force from his body and brazenly lunged at The Flash. The ground buckled under his immense speed. His figure, imperceptible to the naked eye, was already clashing with even more heroes.

Barry was not alone; many of his comrades were happy to help him.

"You will pay for your mistakes!" The Flash's emotions were also bordering on madness as he attacked Reverse-Flash like a lunatic. The two traded blows, with no intention of dodging or defending.

The Speed Force granted them super-healing abilities. Combined with their incredible attack speed, the two destined mortal enemies abandoned all fancy techniques, relying solely on brute force to pummel each other. Blood splattered and wounds healed instantly, the two fighting like irrational, raging bulls.

The Flash was in no mood to overthink things; he needed to vent.

As for Reverse-Flash, he wasn't thinking much at all.

He knew he was finished. The Speed Force was being squandered bit by bit. His doom was only a matter of time.
