Chapter 719: Sinestro War

2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit

Sinestro didn't know why Mobius favored Duzun so much. Over the past few years in the Anti-Matter Universe, Sinestro had been indifferently observing this vast universe.

In the past, as the leader of the Green Lantern Corps, he had spent years leading the Green Lanterns in battles against the armies of the Anti-Matter Universe. He often spearheaded offensives into the Anti-Matter Universe, though he was always eventually driven back.

Sinestro had his own views on Mobius, the nominal ruler of the Anti-Matter Universe.

A strange fellow.

Sinestro held a profound interest in the secrets Mobius kept, but he wouldn't risk offending Mobius before Oa was utterly defeated.

The more he encountered greater worlds, the more he understood his own insignificance. After learning of the vastness of the Multiverse and the legends of countless Ancient Deities, Sinestro became even more brooding and cold.

He was an extremely ambitious individual, but when the world suddenly expanded, and when top-tier lifeforms comparable to legendary ancient beings silently lurked within the Main Universe, even Sinestro's pride was tinged with apprehension and uneasiness.

His intuition and reason both told him that Mobius, this suddenly mysterious individual, harbored hidden secrets that might prove immensely useful to him in the future, though they were irrelevant to him now.

Bang!

Sinestro extended his left hand, conjuring a long, serpentine construct that fiercely bit a Lantern. With a violent tug, the green shield created by the Green Lantern was easily shattered. After revealing a look of horror, the Lantern inside had his head effortlessly crushed by Sinestro.

"Lantern death detected. Seeking suitable life form nearby." The Lantern Ring automatically detached from the Green Lantern's finger, following its directive, intending to leave and search for the nearest habitable planet.

Sinestro's face was cold, his red countenance seeming to flow with blood. As Yellow Fear pulsed, a beam of light struck the Lantern Ring. Fear tightly bound Willpower, causing the ring to drift slightly under Sinestro's control.

"Green Lantern has become a thing of the past for me."

Sinestro snatched the struggling Lantern Ring, looked down at it for a moment, then crushed it with a fierce squeeze, shattering the Power Ring.

"The foolish Guardians have dug their own graves, and I am the one to bury them!"

Sinestro stood in the boundless universe, stars twinkling in every direction. More yellow and green clashed, countless figures fought desperately, and numerous ownerless Power Rings frantically sought their inheritors, making the starry sky incredibly vibrant.

A vibrancy tinged with crimson blood.

Occasionally, a Lantern Ring that had flown off moments ago could be seen returning with a new host, forcing the new Green Lanterns, still bewildered, to plunge headfirst into the brutal battlefield.

It was like harvesting leeks; kill one batch, and another would appear, until one side was completely uprooted. This was a battle between farmer and land; as long as a single leek had roots remaining, the war would continue.

Or until all life forms in the entire universe perished, and the wandering Power Rings had no inheritors left to find.

This was a fierce battle on the Emotional Spectrum, between the Green of Willpower and the Yellow of Fear, a clash between two emotions that were each other's Nemesis.

Fear is the Nemesis of Willpower, and Willpower is the Nemesis of Fear.

The opposition between Green and Yellow on the Emotional Spectrum was second only to that between White and Black Light.

War raged, Emotional Energy surged wildly, and strange weapons conjured by imagination fired relentlessly and without restraint at one another.

Corpses drifted, blood began to burn, and the screams shot directly into interstellar space, shaking Oa. The stirred-up dust silently obscured the sun in the sky.

The Guardians watched with grim faces as Green Lantern after Green Lantern fell in battle, only for new Green Lanterns to immediately rush into the fray, becoming laughable cannon fodder.

From the perspective of abilities, functions, and efficiency, the Yellow Lantern Rings of Sinestro's Legion were virtually indistinguishable from Oa's Lantern Rings.

"Sinestro knows too many of our secrets!"

"This is just what he's revealed; he must know even more."

"The Emotional Spectrum is no longer exclusively ours... no, it hasn't been for a long time."

"When Red Lantern Hulk arrived in the Main Universe, I knew some things would fall beyond our control, but now we have an unexpected Sinestro added to the mix..."

"This is just the beginning. Tony might already be assembling a Red Lantern Corps. Three corps are already known to exist!"

A group of Guardians looked up, their gazes cold as they watched the frequently flickering points of light in the starry sky. Each flicker represented a clash between Willpower and Fear.

How many died, the Guardians didn't care. The billions of life forms in the universe were all mere leeks; there would always be suitable Green Lanterns born.

As long as there were Lantern Rings, there would be an endless supply of Green Lanterns.

Ganthet and Sayd exchanged a quiet glance and fell silent. Everyone knew that the talk of "three corps" was the most optimistic scenario, because their fellow Maltusians who opposed them, the Controllers, must also be tirelessly searching for the secrets of the Emotional Spectrum.

Perhaps other Lantern Rings had already been born.

The Guardians and Controllers were both ancient Maltusians. They had cooperated with First Lantern Volthoom from the Outer universe, collectively utilizing the Emotional Spectrum.

After First Lantern Volthoom was sealed, a Maltusian named Krona conducted insane experiments, leading to the birth of the Anti-Matter Universe. Krona was subsequently banished, and shortly thereafter, these Maltusians also split into two factions due to conflicting ideologies.

One faction came to Oa, calling themselves the Guardians of the Universe.

The other branch, whose whereabouts were mysterious, called themselves the Controllers.

Thus, the Emotional Spectrum became a divine artifact for the Maltusians' internal strife. Both groups jointly sought more profound mysteries of the Emotional Spectrum, attempting to master more power.

Although the Guardians held more secrets of the Emotional Spectrum, the Controllers were not useless either. After all, they had also participated and contributed significantly to the battle that trapped Volthoom back then. The Emotional Spectrum was no secret to them either; they simply possessed less information and fewer hidden details.

In the minds of the past Guardians, the elusive Controllers were the factions that posed the greatest threat to them.

But now, the situation was changing faster than they could imagine. A constant stream of formidable figures arrived in the Main Universe, enemies so powerful that they left even the proud Guardians in a bind.

Yet, these enemies were taken down by an even more formidable individual.

And then, this individual achieved deification, like an iron vice mercilessly twisting their heads.

Now Sinestro was here again, engaging fiercely with the Green Lantern Corps they had painstakingly built, and steadily gaining the upper hand.
