Chapter 723

Chapter 707: Thane

Bang!

Grail punched the still bewildered Tyrant away, then brutally ripped open the enormous spaceship before her and stepped inside.

"There's powerful energy in here, I can feel it!"

Grail sneered, savagely blasting through every room and defense system on her way, heading straight for the spaceship's core area.

Thane's right hand emitted a golden yellow confinement power, momentarily halting the Tyrant, then he hastily followed Grail.

The Tyrant roared, flying back in a rage with his axe on his shoulder, roaring as he charged into the spaceship, his towering wrath almost enough to burn the entire universe.

"You two despicable bandits! Die!"

The Tyrant Herald was surprisingly enraged.

Ever since Galactus died on Earth, and the four Heralds of Galactus were defeated by Annihilus in one battle, the Tyrant fortunately survived and fled back to his lair in a sorry state. As he had promised, he had done his utmost for Galactus, and now it was time for him to live for himself.

But he never expected a menace to come knocking, demanding the Phoenix Egg right away.

As Darkseid's daughter, Grail's sensory ability for such supreme energy like the Phoenix Egg was simply terrifying. The Phoenix Force, condensed into an egg, was nothing but food emitting the most exquisite aroma in Grail's eyes.

The way she looked at the Phoenix Force was essentially like looking at hope itself.

Obtaining this power and gathering more fragments would allow her to return to Apokolips and seek revenge against Darkseid.

Thane continuously swung his right fist, sending confinement cubes flying towards the Tyrant, but each was shattered by the enraged Tyrant Herald, only hindering him for a brief moment.

"Big Sis, we could totally steal it, the Tyrant is famously simple-minded, he wouldn't even notice us..." Thane's mouth was filled with bitterness as he looked at the Tyrant, who was like a maddened beast, on the verge of tears.

Grail, without giving him a chance to offer advice, eagerly crashed into the spaceship.

Grail, who was furiously demolishing things ahead, paused and said nonchalantly, "It's fine, I already thought of that. We will succeed."

You didn't think at all, did you...?

Thane frustratingly grabbed his hair and let out a deep sigh.

Having followed Grail for this period, he generally understood her personality. She was someone with a fanatical pursuit of power, making power the ultimate measure for all her actions in life.

Towards those who were powerful, Grail was not stingy with her humility, but towards those inferior to her and of no value, she would simply use crude and direct methods to solve problems.

On Warworld, it was still fine. Grail worried that her wanton actions would lead to conflict with the Enforcement Squad, so she suppressed her temper and ambition.

But once outside Warworld and away from the Cybertron System, the entire Prime Universe wasn't even worth a glance in her eyes.

Taking the Phoenix Egg was clear proof; no boring schemes were used at all, just rolling up her sleeves and charging straight through. The dizzy Tyrant hadn't even figured out what was happening before the short-tempered Grail slapped him away.

*Riiiiip!*

Grail tore down the last wall. The ultra-hard alloy metal wall was like paper in her hands; she plunged one hand in and ripped it, shattering it instantly.

"Phoenix Egg!"

Grail's eyes lit up, looking at the light construct before her. Red, flame-like energy was slowly surging within, seemingly peaceful, yet Grail could clearly sense the terrifying unrest emanating from the light construct.

*Roar!*

"Despicable cosmic thieves!!!"

The Tyrant charged in, swinging his axe at Grail. Amidst a booming sound, the unleashed axe blade glowed with powerful cosmic energy, and the dazzling energy wave instantly ripped through the surroundings, nearly splitting the entire spaceship in half.

Grail grabbed the axe blade, freeing one hand to fight the Tyrant. The two struggled over the axe, their powerful energy waves colliding and causing widespread destruction. The entire magnificent spaceship was utterly fragile before two Level Seven beings.

Powerful aftershocks continuously diffused, and the spaceship exploded, but the Phoenix Egg remained perfectly stable, completely unaffected by the aftershocks.

"Get lost, you disgusting brute!"

Grail looked at the Tyrant's appearance, which greatly resembled Darkseid, and a deep disgust rose on her face, her killing intent growing even stronger.

The two figures fought furiously. Although they didn't know each other at all, they had long since reached a fever pitch, wildly clashing in intense combat.

Thane, conflicted, dodged an incoming spaceship wreckage, his eyes fixed on the unmoving Phoenix Egg.

*Bang!*

Thane swung his left fist, and the death ray he shot out easily annihilated large chunks of wreckage surging towards him. He then pressed forward, and the closer he got, the stronger and more obvious the conflict and struggle in his eyes became.

He had only recently left Earth, and his understanding of his father, Thanos, was still vague. Ebony Maw hadn't yet had the chance to instill any chaotic thoughts in him, so Thane currently had no definite life goals.

His biggest goal now was simply to help Grail complete her revenge, to kill Darkseid — even though he had no idea who Darkseid was.

So, seeing the Phoenix Egg, containing terrifying energy that made him tremble, about to be within reach, Thane was still conflicted.

Reach out, and the Phoenix Egg would be his; don't reach out, and leave it for Big Sis Grail.

Thane rushed to the Phoenix Egg, his expression shifting erratically. He looked at Grail, who was locked in battle with the Tyrant, then turned back to look at the Phoenix Egg, and for a moment, he actually... zoned out.

For him, who had no ambition or life ideals, making a choice that involved instant ascension and loyalty was somewhat difficult.

Grail, who was nearby, was almost exploding with anger, cursing loudly, "Idiot! Grab it already!!"

Thane froze, then hesitated, "I... I, I want to leave it for you..."

"Damn it!"

Grail cursed fiercely, her heart filled with anxiety, more anxious than Thane. Grail, who had traversed the multiverse and witnessed all kinds of characters, declared that she completely failed to understand Thane's idiotic behavior.

According to her understanding, if there was a benefit right in front of you, you *had* to seize it first! Even if it turned out to be poison afterward, you still had to hold that poison in your hand first. In this world, everything was rubbish except for the power to seek revenge! All of it was fake!

But for some reason, looking at Thane's conflicted and struggling expression, the constantly shifting emotions of desire and rejection on his slightly childish face... Grail suddenly wasn't so angry anymore.

"Reach out, embrace it, you deserve the Phoenix Force! After you accept the Phoenix, hurry over here and help me!"

Grail slammed the Tyrant away, then licked the wound on her arm as magma-like blood flowed out.

Thane gritted his teeth, his eyes wide, and fiercely reached for the light construct before him!

But just then, time seemed to stand still, and a hand grabbed Thane's wrist even faster.

"Since you're so confused, why don't you let me have this thing?"
