Chapter 329

Chapter 328: The Kaizan Plan

The very air in the laboratory seemed to freeze. An unparalleled shock left the researchers parched and speechless, as if frozen solid.

Did that guy just emerge from the control console?

How???

Their erudite minds could barely process the information their eyes were feeding them. The scene shattered the scientific worldview they had painstakingly built through years of diligent study, smashing it to pieces with a hammer named 'cheater.'

The Man in White was, of course, also petrified. He realized there was a massive gap in his side's intelligence; no one had ever warned him about a heaven-defying tracking ability like traveling through the network.

But his on-the-spot reaction was indeed much faster than the researchers, and his mental fortitude was stronger. In that instant, the Man in White gritted his teeth, a ruthless glint flashing in his eyes. Without a second thought, he whipped out several strange spherical objects and flung them at the figure emerging from the control console, whose radiance had not yet completely faded.

Implosion grenades!

This was undoubtedly technology from Apokolips; thugs from Intergang had used them before. They could create a small singularity, blasting open a spatial rift in a limited area. Anything that came into contact with that field would be inevitably devoured.

However, the figure wreathed in brilliance merely flickered, like an illusion.

Just for an instant, there was a flicker, like a distortion in the scenery. When he focused his eyes again, Ultraman was still in the same spot, as if he hadn't moved at all. Yet the Man in White's eyes were wide, his arm frozen in a throwing motion, but the objects he had thrown were gone without a trace.

The Man in White: "?"

Where are my implosion grenades?

How did they just vanish?

The next second, a series of muffled rumbles came from outside the room, followed by sharp screams and the sounds of collapsing steel structures and gunfire.

That was the security room next to their laboratory, where a group of soldiers they had recruited were stationed.

He instantly understood the terrifying truth.

In the split second between the grenades leaving his hand and detonating, his opponent had used super-speed to snatch them, throw them into the next room, and then casually saunter back. The grenades only detonated next door after he had leisurely returned to his original position.

This was clearly faster than any speed they had recorded for Kryptonians... No, it wasn't just about being fast. At this speed, his movements also seemed more fluid and unrestrained than a Kryptonian's.

This immediately made him abandon any thought of trying to attack.

"Smart." Orin Vale glanced at the surrounding researchers, who had all raised their hands in surrender, and nodded. "Kazan Gamora, right? I did a little searching on my way here. You're quite the public figure."

This place was originally called Rellacia, a junkyard run by drug traffickers and gun smugglers. But a few years ago, an iron-fisted reformer named Kazan Gamora took over. Within a few years, he revived its economy to a world-class level.

He even renamed this place 'New Gamora'... Very conceited and arrogant.

"Normally, New Gamora's achievements in these past few years would be nearly impossible. No one knew how you did it. Now, however, I'm guessing you received some outside help, right?" Orin Vale said.

Seemingly aware he had no way out, Kaizan sighed.

"Alright, you win... Yes, I did receive help from some outsiders. But what choice did I have? I was just thinking of this place, the place that raised me. I want a better life for my people.

"The Machine Faction only wanted to collect some data on Kryptonians. We were simply curious about the secrets to a Kryptonian's power—the most supreme existence on this planet. But that's all. We never intended to harm anyone.

"If you insist on holding someone responsible, then come after me. My people and my army have nothing to do with this..."

Before he could finish, Orin Vale flicked his right palm, casually firing a light bullet from his fingertip. Kaizan's pupils shrank. He didn't even have time to cry out before the searing energy flew past his cheek.

With a loud bang, the thick, reinforced alloy wall of the laboratory was blasted through. When the dazed Kaizan turned his head, he saw a huge hole left behind him, its tangled steel rebar structure emitting black smoke.

"You..." Kaizan looked at him in terror.

"An anti-vision material made from an unknown element. Pretty good design, I'm guessing it's Apokolips technology. But you didn't really think I couldn't see the hidden door, did you?"

"No, you can't go in there..." Kaizan's expression turned to panic.

What the laboratory showed was merely a facade; something else was hidden deeper within. Even Kaizan's confession was just a ruse to make Orin Vale overlook other secrets and stop asking questions.

But Orin Vale could hear his every breath, his every heartbeat. He could discern the most subtle differences and knew what was hidden behind every word.

No one could lie to him.

When Orin Vale flew through the hole into the area behind it, he discovered a room far more spacious than the last. There was no light source, only a pitch-black darkness where one couldn't see their hand in front of their face—of course, it made no difference to him.

So, the moment he entered, he discovered what was hidden in this room... or rather, the creatures.

Red eyes lit up one by one, locking onto his position from all directions. Each pair was hidden within a glass container like a cultivation pod, filled with a golden liquid. Inside each pod was a pale, hideous humanoid creature, completely hairless, staring coldly at him.

With just one glance, Orin Vale recognized them. They were clones... if one could even call them 'human.'

In the early planning stages, they were perhaps meant to be 'human,' but the process clearly didn't go smoothly. Immature technology and errors led to a final product that differed from expectations, resulting in these unsettling, twisted creatures.

And looking past their skin, with his microscopic vision, Orin Vale recognized where these things came from and what they were originally supposed to become.

Their creation originated from the gene fragments of a Kryptonian.

They were supposed to become Kryptonians.

"I see. So this is what you wanted. The Machine Faction's presence inside Power Girl, the experiments that interfered with her abilities... it was all for this purpose."

"That's right." Kaizan's panicked demeanor vanished, and he spoke coldly, "It didn't have to be this way. But since you insisted on opening this door and seeing this...

"Then I can only say it's a pity, Ultraman. It looks like your time on Earth is over."

CRASH!

That was the sound of all the cultivation pods shattering at once.

Shattered glass, splashing liquid. The hideous white monsters emerged one after another, the golden cultivation fluid spilling all over the floor.

"A Kryptonian clone army. Is that the best you could come up with?"

Orin Vale was amused.

"Can't you wannabe conquerors be a little more imaginative?"
