Chapter 68: Core Module
2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit
The astonishing news that Mechanic tony had become one of Stark Industries' shareholders spread like wildfire, causing a huge uproar. Several major monopoly media outlets, eager to stir up trouble, frenziedly promoted this news on their respective channels.
Some loudly cheered Tony's move, believing it would lead to peace and reconciliation between Ordinary Humans and Mutants, considering it a tremendous good. However, to some radicals and people who disliked Mutants, this was an insane act. They used various means to bombard Tony and Stark Industries, accusing them of destroying everything and even sparking a great war.
"Every action of our company complies with relevant laws. No individual or organization has the right to make unwarranted accusations against Stark Industries. We reserve the right to sue." Pepper Potts, as Tony's assistant and secretary, acted decisively and competently, living up to her position. She led the PR team, firmly suppressing a large number of media companies unfavorable to Stark Industries.
This undoubtedly ignited the current hot topic. The Mutant group led by Magneto was becoming increasingly radical and had issued an ultimatum to the Human Government. Although opinions among Ordinary Humans regarding Mutants were polarized, Magneto's actions undoubtedly pushed neutral groups to the opposing side, escalating the conflict step by step.
The top headlines of all major media outlets announced that tony had officially become a major shareholder of Stark Industries.
Indeed, even if this one percent was split among several individuals, the media twisted it to attribute all of it to tony. And one percent of shares could indeed be considered a major shareholder in Stark Industries, because Tony and his uncle Obadiah controlled more than half of the shares!
One percent was truly astonishing.
Groups supporting Mutants and groups opposing Mutants protested against each other, repeatedly staging demonstrations, voicing their respective interests and engaging in furious arguments. Many issues that had been intentionally buried were unearthed again, brought before the public and into the light for debate.
This might greatly intensify the conflict between Mutants and Ordinary Humans, or it might ease it. But undoubtedly, Stryker and his faction would not tolerate a peaceful outcome; they would try every means to incite conflict.
Tony, that arrogant playboy, wouldn't bother with such trivial matters. It wouldn't harm him in the slightest. He still spent his days mingling with various beauties, making time to research the Jericho Missile. Soon, he would depart for Afghanistan, where a group of frontline soldiers awaited his weapons of mass destruction.
Countless reporters, like bloodhounds, found tony's residence despite the information blockade by The Authorities. They swarmed there, eager to interview this rising Mutant and hear his views.
tony's response was simple: he directly commanded a group of Transformers to enter Combat Mode, glaring menacingly at them.
The crowd of reporters fell back in a clamor, daring not to advance further. They could only circle around outside unwillingly. As time passed, they gradually dispersed.
…
tony devoured the various knowledge and technologies he had downloaded, learning eagerly. The Allspark was comprehensively enhancing him, including his memory. This was an opportunity; as a shareholder, he could obtain some lower-level data, which was not classified and greatly facilitated his learning.
"Large machine tools are not very useful to me... And this, what is this thing? A precision-controlled press? This kind of thing is completely useless to me..."
tony possessed the Allspark, whose miraculous ability allowed him to do what many large precision machines could. Animating machines and assembling metal had already become his instincts. He didn't need this complex, precise knowledge that was, in fact, not very useful.
"This one, yes. The structure of pressure-resistant bearings..."
tony habitually muttered as he learned. He had been doing this ever since he got the data, almost annoying the Old Bartender to death.
tony didn't need to know the exact manufacturing methods for every technology. He only needed the most crucial structural principles; he could complete all processing with the Allspark. This was his greatest weapon.
One Allspark was enough to replace ninety-nine percent of the processing machines in human society. However, sometimes he would encounter some trouble...
"Aren't you supposedly a Master Mechanic? How can you not even properly modify a high-level engine?" tony was very dissatisfied because the Old Bartender's efficiency was too low.
"Haven't you been human for twenty years? Can you make me a small intestine, damn it?" The Old Bartender was annoyed. He was studying an energy tube he had pulled from Optimus Prime. At tony's request, he had begun to tentatively explore energy transmission.
tony's memory was astonishing. After quickly scanning the data he had, he suddenly thought of trying to convert Optimus Prime into an energy output system. This idea grew like wildfire, making his heart race, so he bought a batch of new devices from Stark Industries.
With the Allspark as a backup, the Old Bartender's task was to find the most efficient circuit mode, and then tony would implement it, changing Optimus Prime's Combat Mode to Energy Mode.
tony thought of Tony's armored suit: as long as the reactor in its chest had energy, it could fire an energy cannon through the armor. tony wanted to do the same; he wanted to convert Optimus Prime into Energy Mode, changing its previous combat methods, like nonchalantly carrying a Gatling... This wasn't bad, but with Energy Mode, it could better handle various sudden situations.
The energy source was his Allspark. He attempted to add a core module to Optimus Prime's metal body. Just as a human's heart supplies blood, the core module could provide a continuous flow of energy.
But it wasn't a complete success. The energy in the module dissipated too quickly, and the duration it could sustain varied according to the module's capacity.
"How about... defining Optimus Prime's core module as a Leadership Module first?" tony stroked his chin. All his energy was focused on Optimus Prime, dedicated to creating the best core module. This was a reckless but necessary attempt.
His face was somewhat pale. Creating such a module consumed a massive amount of Allspark. tony spent a full ten days, attempting it dozens of times before it barely took shape. The module was his imitation of his own Allspark, formed by repeatedly compressing and molding countless units of Allspark Energy, ultimately becoming a cluster of seemingly non-existent particles, burning brightly like a dazzling torch.
Allspark Energy particles themselves seemed to have an aggregated state. This Pseudo-Allspark was vastly different from the Allspark, which existed between existence and non-existence, but at least a crucial step had been taken.
Optimus Prime slowly stood up. tony wondered if it was an illusion, but Optimus Prime seemed to have undergone some change, at least acquiring a "core" that could be precisely felt, just as humans have hearts.
"If a soul were added to the module... my only remaining family would truly come alive..." tony murmured, a hint of expectation mixed with complex thoughts. He had nothing left but Optimus Prime.
Oh, and this old geezer next to him...
"You're clearly pushing your luck! Look at how depleted you are! You're practically like Tony Stark after a night of endless revelry at a club! But I have to say, you've achieved something remarkable." The Old Bartender clicked his tongue in admiration, taking a swig of beer. He understood how extraordinary it was to conjure a mechanical core out of thin air. The Old Bartender sighed, "You've gone bald, and you've gotten stronger..."
tony was pleased with the first half of the sentence, but after hearing the second half, he delivered a swift, clean flying kick. Indeed, he had overestimated the Old Bartender's sense of decency and self-awareness.
