Chapter 59: The Shadow That Split Open
2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit
Several nearly unbreakable blood chains bound Tony tightly.
Deacon stared at Tony, his eyes filled with greed and obsession. He was a Vampire, and precisely because he was a post-transformation mixed-blood, he worked harder than any other. This gave him talent and abilities that far surpassed his peers.
He had keenly spotted Tony's uniqueness. He had specifically found a dagger in the bar to obtain a trace of Tony's blood that had luckily not been incinerated, all for the sake of research. A Mutant with the ability of Creation? Creation was the authority of a deity in legends! How could a mere high-level Mutant possess such a thing?
The result drove Deacon mad.
Tony's blood contained some kind of miraculous substance that had an elevating, evolutionary effect. It seemed that a mysterious biological code was hidden deep within Tony's blood. Deacon was a Vampire; he had spent his entire life dealing with the blood of various creatures. He could unearth the secrets within blood to the greatest extent.
He was going a little crazy. That minuscule amount of Tony's dead blood had caused the Daywalker blood he had on hand—which was originally insufficient—to sublimate, reaching an extraordinary level. This completely overturned Deacon's worldview. He realized that Tony must hold a tremendous secret, one lurking deep within his bloodline. At the very end of his life essence, there had to be some kind of magical source.
He had to capture Tony! Dissect him! Study him! He had to find the secret of that source!
Tony's face was grim. The anti-coagulant, which he considered a super weapon, had turned out to be useless, causing his heart to sink. If even the anti-coagulant didn't work, how was he supposed to kill this infinitely regenerating monster, Deacon?
Was it really as he had joked before, that he'd have to kill him hundreds or thousands of times? They would be exhausted to death long before they reached that number. His intuition told Tony that trying to win a battle of attrition against Deacon in his current state was simply suicidal.
The blood shackles gradually tightened. The viscous blood possessed astonishing toughness, even more solid than ropes, transforming into death chains that bound Tony.
*Swish! Swish! Swish!*
Numerous blades suddenly assembled on Tony's armor, instantly severing all the blood.
This time, Tony was truly getting anxious. The failure of the anti-coagulant had been a heavy blow, making him unconsciously use his full strength to break free. No matter what, he had to take down this Blood God. Breaking free was the most crucial first step.
Within his mind, the Allspark, which existed on the threshold of being and non-being, pulsed violently, bursting with dazzling light! A continuous stream of Allspark Energy was transmitted under Tony's control, naturally adhering to his armor.
"It's useless. This kind of laughable physical attack is completely useless against me!"
Deacon looked at his prey with a mocking gaze, as if sizing up a lamb to the slaughter. This was the feeling of power, something that drove Deacon, who had pursued strength his entire life, into a state of ecstasy! If this had been him a few hours ago, he would have turned and fled from Tony. He would have to be an idiot to fight face-to-face with the Mechanist, a renowned war machine.
In this day and age, who would fight a Mutant like Tony, capable of creating mechanical soldiers, without a few tricks up their sleeve? The proper way was to overwhelm him with numbers and heavy weaponry.
But now, he possessed the ability to fight Tony head-on! And to crush him with ease!
*Swish!*
The severed blood would always restore itself in an instant. Deacon laughed wildly. He would capture Tony and uncover the secrets he held.
*Swish! Swish! Swish!*
Another series of sounds rang out. Deacon's maniacal laughter came to an abrupt halt. His gaze froze, and his entire body seemed to stiffen.
The blades, now coated in Allspark Energy, sliced through the blood as if cutting vegetables. But this time, the blood did not rapidly regenerate as before. Instead, as if encountering something terrifying, its life force was annihilated. It fell limply to the ground, turning into a pool of stagnant water, withered and dead.
"Looks like it's useful after all!" A large blade formed in an instant and chopped down at the arm Deacon had turned into shackles!
The blood arm was severed at the sound, falling powerlessly to the ground. The viscous blood twitched a few times, as if struggling, but it soon lost its life force and rapidly withered from the cut.
"How is this possible... How is this possible! How can you have this kind of ability! I am the Blood God! I am immune to all attacks! I am a God that cannot be killed!"
Deacon's eyes widened in confusion. How could this be happening? Just a moment ago, Tony had been helpless. Why had things suddenly changed so drastically?
Tony leaped back to a safe distance, two little Transformers circling him, eyeing Deacon menacingly. He looked at his own hands and faintly began to understand. He had always thought his ability was to create Transformers, and to have Transformers, he needed the Allspark. But he had always applied the Allspark Energy to the material of the Transformer itself.
To animate a Transformer, the most basic requirement was for the original part to have a relatively complete energy circuit, which he would then gradually animate with his Allspark.
There was only one exception... when he killed Abomination. That was the only time he had a power burst. The price had been devastating, leaving a deep scar on his Allspark that had yet to heal. Tony had always been afraid. A Phoenix power burst would annihilate one's personality; his power burst would massively burn his Allspark. If he had a few more power bursts, would he himself be burned away, completely ruined?
For a long time, Tony's use of the Allspark had been limited to applying it to the materials of Transformers. He had never considered—or rather, never dared to consider—using the Allspark Energy itself as a form of active energy. He had stubbornly focused on upgrading the level of his materials to make them harder, but he never thought of adding a suit of energy armor on top of that material. It wasn't that he didn't want to, but that he couldn't. His Allspark couldn't withstand such consumption.
At this moment, Tony broke into a smile. The shadow that had always pierced his heart seemed to have a small tear ripped open, allowing him to finally see the sunlight.
"I really am an idiot... like a cowardly fool." Tony laughed freely, something he hadn't done in a long time. He had always been so cautious in using his abilities, terrified of repeating his past mistake. He was afraid of unleashing the Allspark so recklessly again, of burning it once more. The memory of that day had cast a huge shadow over him, until now.
But he was wrong! How could he possibly bring out its full power if he was afraid of using an ability that was under his own control!
The Allspark... this miracle that had accompanied him into this life was stronger than he had imagined! The Allspark would be strong when he was strong, and weak when he was weak!
"Bastard, don't get cocky! I'll kill you! I'll kill you with my own hands!" Deacon was enraged by the laughter. His crimson eyes blazed with madness as his other arm shot out toward Tony. Midway, it once again transformed into a blood river, crashing toward Tony with immense power.
Tony no longer dodged. He raised a new shield, one also clad in Allspark Energy! He decided not to run, nor did he need to anymore. Tony charged head-on into the blood river!
Tony was incredibly tiny before this blood river, but it was this small figure that charged fearlessly toward the towering, surging wave!
*RUMBLE!*
The immense forces collided, creating a deafening roar! Tony was like an indestructible mountain rock in the sea. No matter how monstrous the waves, he stood firm and unmoving! He drew his blade again and, with a few swings, hacked away large chunks of blood, visibly weakening the Blood God little by little.
"Impossible! How can you do this? I am the Blood God! How can you drain my life force?!" Deacon couldn't believe his eyes. The overwhelming blood river was being held back by a tiny little rock.
Drain his life force?
Tony scoffed but offered no explanation. He didn't need to explain anything to Deacon. His Allspark was the Authority of Creation, not the Authority of Destruction. Where would he get the ability to drain life force?
