Chapter 30: Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters

2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit

Tony led his convoy straight to a school located in Westchester, New York.

Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters has developed rapidly over the past few decades, yet it lives almost entirely isolated from the world. Many people aren't even aware that such a peculiar school exists in the bustling New York City; only high-level personnel within certain organizations know of it.

Xavier's School specifically, and exclusively, recruits mutants, with ages ranging from a few years old to teenagers.

The principal is Charles Xavier, known as Professor X, and is recognized as one of the two pillars of mutants, a great mutant leader. He has strived his entire life for the peaceful coexistence of mutants and ordinary humans, earning him the respect due to an elder.

However, Tony always harbored doubts about meeting Professor X. Professor X's psychic abilities were impossible to guard against; he could read Tony's memories in an instant, and Tony wouldn't even notice.

Tony had too many secrets, and he genuinely worried that Professor X might probe his memories, even if the possibility was slim.

Besides his power, which was feared by the world, what truly earned Professor X praise and respect was his noble character. This old man had spent a lifetime proving himself and would continue to do so; he was a trustworthy elder, a truly benevolent patriarch.

Tony took a risk by coming to meet Professor X; he needed help, reliable support.

He wouldn't choose Magneto, at least not until he possessed the power to oppose Magneto. Magneto was unyielding and unwilling to compromise; he was determined to exterminate humanity and make Earth a world for mutants, acting with extreme measures.

Tony drove his Optimus Prime all the way, a brand new motorcycle resting in its truck bed, followed by two dilapidated cars, forming a small convoy. Tony led them to Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.

He wanted to find Professor X; he was banking on Professor X's character. He wanted to become stronger, even if it was just a little bit at a time.

Xavier's School was largely isolated from the world, boasting beautiful scenery, far from the city's grime and clamor, a true haven.

As they reached the main gate, the sound of the vehicles attracted a lot of attention. Outsiders rarely visited here, and everyone was extremely curious about the new visitor.

It was a group of children of various ages, gathered in small groups, whispering and pointing at Tony as he got out, discussing who this person was.

Tony looked at the children; their faces held innocence and purity, like angels unaware of the world's ways. His heart instantly calmed, and as he watched them, his entire being relaxed.

This change surprised him. He had always been on edge, but in front of these children, he subtly relaxed, feeling comfortable and at ease.

"Welcome, Tony." A woman, who already knew Tony was coming, stood there waiting, smiling. In her address, she even omitted "Mister," clearly not treating Tony as an outsider.

"Jean, I've seen you speak in Congress before, and I've read some of your papers. Thank you for everything you've done."

Tony looked at this graceful and charming mature woman. Despite it being their first meeting, he instantly recognized her: this person was Jean Grey, a terrifying, uncontrollable mutant. In terms of current combat power, she was a Level 5 demigod, and in terms of potential, an Omega Level with infinite potential.

Given enough time, she could even destroy the Multiverse.

Facing Jean, Tony felt a sense of suffocation, whether it was an illusion or not, and the Allspark in his mind flashed wildly.

Jean Grey was one of the Hosts of the Cosmic Phoenix. Her body contained terrifying energy, and her telekinesis could annihilate soul and matter at the atomic level, making it utterly dreadful. The most critical aspect was that this power was uncontrollable; Jean herself could easily become subservient to it, leading to the birth of the Dark Phoenix.

Professor X had sealed off Jean's source of power using telepathy, but as time passed, the power of the seal grew weaker, becoming less and less able to resist the increasingly volatile Phoenix Force.

All it would take was a catalyst, and the Phoenix Force would erupt with irreversible momentum, leaving no chance for reversal. The Dark Phoenix would obliterate the primary personality and take over everything.

But at least for now, the kind and friendly Jean was in control. She herself didn't even know she possessed a Dark Phoenix.

"Oh?" Jean's smile was sweet. She looked at Tony playfully, "Then, I wonder what papers of mine you've read? We could discuss them. I heard you also attended college."

"Only half," Tony said brazenly. "I'm very interested in Jean's papers analyzing mutant abilities."

Tony spoke nonsense, lavishly praising Jean's research for unveiling a new frontier in the field of mutant abilities, stating it had immense significance in better understanding the future direction of mutants. He expressed great gratitude for Jean's efforts on behalf of mutants.

Papers? That kind of thing? How could he possibly read them? No way.

Jean gave Tony a meaningful look. As a teacher, how could she not see that Tony was talking nonsense? But she didn't call him out, instead motioning for Tony to follow her.

"Professor X sensed you were almost here, and he asked me to come greet you," Jean told Tony as they walked. Professor X had been watching Tony for a long time; he had been looking forward to Tony seeking him out, hoping to have a good chat.

Many mutant students curiously stared at Tony. Some who liked watching TV had already recognized him and quickly told others that this young man was the mechanic who was currently making waves.

"He's that new high-level mutant?" a young man exclaimed, his eyes shining brightly. Relevant agencies had blocked Tony's detailed information, leading many to only know that Tony had an Awakening during a crisis and was of a high level, but there was much speculation about what level exactly.

The more credible claim was that he was a Level Three mutant, the kind that leaned towards combat power, with very high destructive power.

Following a pebble path, Tony arrived at a quaint little building in the deepest part of Xavier's School. The building was quite old, looking very elegant. What was even more surprising was that Eastern glazed tiles were laid out in an orderly fashion on its exterior, forming a beautiful picture.

Pushing open the main door, Professor X in his wheelchair slowly turned around. He exuded a peaceful aura, his gaze calm yet filled with radiant wisdom.

"Welcome, my child."
