Chapter 257

Chapter 252: We've Come to Kill You

Wizard Shazam was an Archmage who had locked himself in the Rock of Eternity for several thousand years.

In the age of Ancient Egypt thousands of years ago, Wizard Shazam was renowned and revered by countless people. It could be said that before the Sorcerer Supreme's meteoric rise, the most famous lineage in the world of Magic was that of Wizard Shazam.

Kamar-Taj drew its Mystic Energy from the Vishanti, while Shazam drew his from the six gods of Ancient Egypt.

The current Shazam was a person who could perfectly wield Mystic Energy. Because of his power source, the Mystic Energy and Inherited Magic he used could greatly slow the decay of his lifespan. Coupled with the peculiar Domain he had forged, the "Rock of Eternity," these various factors worked together to allow Shazam to live for several thousand years.

Unfortunately, he could only lock himself inside the Rock of Eternity. Since that incident, he had not taken a single step out of the fortress in thousands of years. He remained alone, silently sitting on his throne all this time.

That incident was the betrayal of his most promising disciple—Black Adam. Shazam had passed the Power of the Six Gods to Black Adam, but for various reasons, Black Adam ultimately walked a path of opposition, becoming his mortal enemy.

He had gone to great lengths to defeat Black Adam personally and placed him under a Seal that lasted for a millennium.

As a Level Seven Archmage, logically, there should have been nothing that could make him so dejected. But unfortunately, Shazam's regard for Black Adam exceeded everyone's imagination, including his own.

The greater the expectation, the greater the disappointment. This perfectly described Shazam. Disheartened and disillusioned, he shut himself in the fortress for thousands of years.

This time, at the Ancient One's invitation, he was taking action once more.

After several thousand years, Shazam, nearing the end of his life, had suffered a drastic decline in physical strength. It seemed he even had to rely on a Magic Staff just to walk.

The disheveled old man slowly stood up. The terrifying Mystic Energy, which had lain dormant for millennia, began to surge like a mighty river. Every collision between particles of Mystic Energy erupted with an appalling sound.

Within that withered body, which looked as if a gust of wind could blow it over, a truly horrifying power was brewing.

"I didn't want to interfere, but I couldn't refuse the repeated invitations of that little girl, Ancient One." Shazam spoke slowly, gradually raising his head. His eyes, concealed by white hair, were slowly revealed, emitting a frighteningly sharp glint.

The Magic Staff struck the ground, and the entire Rock of Eternity began to rumble. Its gates slowly pulled apart, and the Concealment Magic that covered every millimeter of the fortress began to fade. Shazam's power, completely undisguised, boomed into the Dark Dimension.

The overwhelming pressure, born from the terror of a Level Seven Archmage who had cultivated for thousands of years, erupted in its entirety at this very moment!

"My thanks for your trouble," the Ancient One said, nodding slightly toward Shazam.

One in white, the other in gray, they symbolized the two strongest Archmages on Earth. Here in this Dark World, they faced Dormammu, meeting in this manner for the first time.

That's right, the Ancient One, who monitored countless large and small passages and Dimensions on Earth, had long since discovered the location of the Rock of Eternity. However, she had never mentioned it, because it would have been useless.

If Shazam had wanted to come out, he would have done so long ago.

"Wizard Shazam! You should have been dead long ago!" Dormammu was both shocked and enraged. As a Demigod-Level Sorcerer who had also originated from Earth a long time ago, he was, of course, no stranger to the legends of Shazam.

"Why? Why have you come out to deal with me?!" Dormammu roared. "Wouldn't it be better to stay in your damned world? How much longer can your lifespan withstand the ravages of time?!"

"I didn't want to, either. But that little girl, Ancient One, said that if I help her slaughter you, she'll help me find the most suitable successor..." Shazam mumbled, muttering to himself like an ordinary old man, though his words were terrifying.

"Just for that?" Dormammu fell silent for a moment before saying coldly, "If I were to promise you the same thing, it seems I still wouldn't be able to make you stop?"

"You? If you had the time, you would have already devoured Earth. You'd give me time to find a successor?" Shazam sneered, revealing a mouth devoid of teeth.

"And then find another Black Adam? So you can go through all the trouble of sealing a new traitor?" Dormammu said mockingly.

Wizard Shazam was extremely well-known in the Sorcerer circles of Earth, and countless people had long studied the major events that had occurred back then.

Overall, Shazam's heart had been broken by Black Adam. Compounded by the fact that he was a stubborn old man who wouldn't listen to anyone's advice, it ultimately led to Shazam's seclusion.

Countless people had searched for the Rock of Eternity, but no one ever found it. As time went on, people gradually gave up.

But Dormammu had truly never expected Shazam to show up today. This gave rise to an ominous premonition in his heart.

The Ancient One and Shazam had already been in contact.

The two of them had long been plotting to attack the Dark Dimension and inflict a heavy blow upon him.

"If you want to deal with me, the two of you had better be prepared to leave one of you behind," Dormammu said grimly.

To this day, he still didn't believe he could die; at most, he would lose. If they truly pushed him into a corner, he would just dive into some corner of the Dark Dimension and never come out. This was his world, after all. On his home turf, even if he couldn't win, could he not run?

What a joke!

"Enough nonsense! I've seen plenty of things like you! There will only ever be one Black Adam, and my successor can't possibly be another!" Shazam said with a cold expression, slamming his Magic Staff down hard.

Countless streams of Mystic Energy surged forth. The particles of Mystic Energy collided, forming something akin to lightning. Carrying ferocious destructive power, it instantly erupted from where the Magic Staff met the ground and then blasted towards Dormammu's planet-sized body!

The Ancient One also made her move. A Spatial Disc formed from Mystic Energy appeared in her hands. The Pentagram on the disc began to spin rapidly as she pushed the Magic Power from the Vishanti to its absolute limit.

In a momentary burst of power, countless translucent Crystal Walls suddenly appeared, piecing themselves together to form an immensely thick Crystalline Barrier. Pushed forward by the Ancient One's hands, it smashed towards Dormammu.

"This is my world!"

Dormammu was filled with wrath. The appearance of Shazam had infuriated him.

For the first time, his old rival the Ancient One had actually taken the initiative to counterattack, invading his territory and even bringing powerful reinforcements!

"You two think you can defeat me? What a joke!" Dormammu's words were laced with deep fury.

Within the Dark Dimension, countless streams of Dark Power began to converge, forming a wildly spinning Black Magic Vortex. The Dark Magic rotated at an astonishing speed, its pitch-black color like a black hole, devouring everything that came near—a trait perfectly in line with the nature of Dark Power.

"You seem to have misunderstood, Dormammu," the Ancient One said. "We didn't come here to severely injure you. We came here to kill you."
