Chapter 242

"Are you done venting?"

Tony casually shook his arm. A bone fracture, which would take an ordinary person half a year to recover from, healed in an instant.

Tony's Healing Factor was already infinitely close to Wolverine's level.

"If you wanted to kill me, that last punch could have directly used Divine Power, instead of ordinary muscle strength." Tony's smile slowly faded as he felt a long-absent sense of danger. The pores all over his body began to dilate slightly, and the hairs on his skin, a sign of his heightened perception, slowly bristled.

"You knew everything that was going to happen! So many people didn't have to die!"

Diana's eyes, full of artistic beauty, widened. Within her dark pupils, brilliant stars seemed to hang, twinkling faintly. She took a whip emitting a pale red glow from her waist, flicked it out, and wrapped it tightly around Tony's arm.

This whip was also a divine artifact, known as the Lasso of Truth. Unless one's strength reached a completely overwhelming level, it was impossible to be immune to it. Under the Lasso of Truth's restraint, one could not lie and would unconsciously reveal their innermost thoughts.

This was a divine artifact that targeted the Soul.

Magneto floated cautiously in the air, watching the scene unfold.

"Me, the unkillable one," Tony said lightly, "how else am I supposed to divert the attention of those meddlesome bastards here? I didn't need to look for you in the first place. I only needed to join forces with the Sorcerer Supreme and Wizard Shazam, plus the other forces in the cosmos, and that would have been enough to achieve my goal and buy Earth a little time."

"But I still took a risk to find you. If I hadn't, you would still be in some museum, studying the art of sculpture."

"I don't like dealing with people like you because I always feel that your outdated ideals could ruin things at a critical moment, making all careful preparations for naught. Perhaps it would be just because of your sudden softness of heart, your ridiculous convictions, your pointless bleeding heart."

"But I still came looking for you, because I felt you could play a very important role—at the very least, you could act as a front-line Tank."

He, Magneto, and Professor X were not suited to be Tanks. Rushing to the front line would likely get them all killed in the first wave of an attack.

Wolverine and Diana were the two most suitable candidates.

Especially Diana. A born Demigod with the blood of Zeus flowing in her veins, protected by immense Divine Power from Zeus, and equipped with a full set of Olympian Artifacts, she could perfectly unleash the Combat Power of a Level 5, or even a Level Six being.

But she was also troublesome. Tony found some of the Justice League's ideals hard to accept. After so many incidents, how many criminals had they let go just because they begged pitifully? How many vicious crimes were committed by culprits who had been sent to Prison only to break out again?

On this point, the Avengers and others were much better. They killed when they had to, without hesitation. None of the Superheroes in the Avengers or the X-Men had clean hands.

"I know you, Tony. A kind villain." Diana slowly withdrew the Lasso of Truth, but her expression remained grim. Despising evil as she did, she couldn't say she detested Tony, but it was difficult for her to develop any fondness for him either.

Tony breathed a sigh of relief. To be honest, facing Diana directly was incredibly stressful. The Divine Power surging around her was far too dangerous, not to mention the woman was covered inside and out with divine artifacts, a veritable walking armory of artifacts.

Bracelets of Submission, the Amazon shield, Lasso of Truth, Champion's Battle Helm and Tiara, Winged Sandals of Hermes, Godkiller Sword…

Every single one was a treasure of the Olympian Pantheon, yet they were all concentrated on Diana alone.

"It seems we're going to be teammates for now. I just hope you don't bring your bleeding heart to a critical battlefield," Tony said, patting the dust off his clothes. His relaxed demeanor made Diana show a hint of surprise.

Although her punch hadn't used Divine Power, its sheer muscular force should have been enough to seriously injure Tony—her original plan was to wound him and then treat him. With the Healing Arts and divine medicines of Themyscira, healing a bone fracture was almost too simple.

"The number of Extraterrestrial Beings I have killed over the years is far more than you know. I have silently protected humanity for many years. My people's protection of mankind can be traced back to the age of myth," Diana glanced at Tony, reattaching the Lasso of Truth to her waist.

She was using facts to show Tony just how ridiculous his 'bleeding heart' accusation was.

Tony's calm face showed no reaction.

He had carefully selected Wonder Woman. She had formidable strength, god-tier equipment, and didn't have a pronounced bleeding heart.

He had also considered looking for Superman, Clark, who just wanted to farm his land and keep a low profile. But the moment he thought about a Kryptonian's resistance to Magic... even if Clark did come, he would probably be insta-killed in the first encounter...

It was better to let Clark continue farming.

Magneto, who had been an almost non-existent presence, could finally sit still no longer. He had heard every word Tony and Diana said, but he couldn't understand what it all meant when put together.

"Tell me, Tony, what in the world are you planning?" Magneto's face was grim. A sense of shameful rage at being fooled crept into his heart. The increasingly extreme Old Man Magneto could barely stop himself from attacking, but he remained deeply wary of Diana.

Two against one didn't look like good odds.

"The situation now isn't what I want to do, but what Diana wants to do to you. You've really angered her." Tony spread his hands and comfortingly patted Predaking's head, suppressing his urge to roar at Diana.

Magneto's expression grew even darker, the wrinkles on his old face bunching up together.

But one thing had become clear to him: if he didn't leave now, he might die. Failure wasn't terrifying; he had failed many times. But this time was the closest he had ever come to success, which made him feel incredibly bitter. He hated Tony, and he hated this new woman.

A new era for Mutants was about to dawn, but Tony had single-handedly snuffed out that hope.

"Tony, you are a sinner, a traitor to the Mutants! You have destroyed all our hopes..." Magneto expertly delivered his harsh parting words and prepared to bolt.

"Shut up, child. I'll deal with you later," Diana said with a cold snort.

Shut up, child.

???

Magneto was stunned.

"What did you say, child? Are you provoking me?!"

He was a leader! Does a leader not have any pride?! He, the great Magneto, was being openly mocked by a young-looking woman?!!

In fact, he really was being ignored.

"...So, that means the time will be soon? Very well..."

After asking a few questions, Diana drew her Godkiller Sword. Its sharp tip glinted with a cold light, and the surging Divine Power brought with it a bone-piercing chill.

The warrior woman turned around and looked coldly at Magneto. This white-haired child, he was the culprit responsible for such massive losses.
