Chapter 233: Magneto Makes His Move

2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit

Azazel was in a sorry state.

He wanted to bypass Tony and directly attack Rogue. Rogue's absorbed abilities made her the perfect candidate to activate the Transformation Machine.

Unfortunately, Tony had already sent people to wait for him. Max and Betty were there to teach him a lesson.

"Watch me smash you, you little flea!" Betty transformed into a Red Hulk, roaring furiously. She slammed a fist into the ground; if Azazel hadn't dodged quickly, he might have been killed.

A single punch left a huge crater in the ground, a sight that would make anyone break out in a cold sweat.

Betty also possessed beast-like instincts. Although Azazel's Teleportation was fast, he was helpless against her.

That was bad enough, but Max, standing nearby, was the most troublesome opponent.

Without a word, he unleashed countless currents of electricity that covered the entire area. If Azazel dared to appear, he would be attacked instantly. No matter how fast his reflexes were, he couldn't be faster than the speed of electricity.

Azazel decisively retreated.

It wasn't that he couldn't defeat these two. But there was no need to have a complete falling out with Tony for Magneto's sake. He had lived for thousands of years; Magneto wasn't worth him risking his life.

Betty's two-meter-tall red body was incredibly conspicuous. Her pitch-black eyes stared coldly at the spot where Azazel had disappeared. With a cold snort, she slowly transformed back.

"Your temper has improved quite a bit," Max said. "You and him... is this it? A cold war?"

"What cold war? It's already fine. Do you think I'm the type of person who gets hurt and needs the one responsible to come running to comfort me? That would just disgust me. Such an act would make me feel weak, and I come from a military family," Betty said irritably.

This was already the best way for them to get along.

Max shook his head and looked up at the sky. He knew Tony's plan. It was risky, crazy, and at the same time, exhilarating. It might buy Earth more time.

Azazel teleported inside the Statue of Liberty, appearing before Magneto.

To some extent, Magneto was a ruthless man. He always killed the enemies in his path in the most direct manner. He would do anything for the future of his people, even if it meant causing global turmoil, without the slightest hesitation.

"Even you failed? It seems that kid has grown really fast, and the people he's recruited are quite remarkable." Magneto, wearing a special helmet, shook his head.

It had taken him the better part of a lifetime to reach the peak of Level Four, yet it had only taken Tony a single year to go from his Awakening to Level Four.

Every time he compared himself to Tony, Magneto was filled with amazement. Tony's growth rate was truly astonishing; no one had ever achieved so much in such an incredibly short period.

"What a pity. If I had personally shown up back then, perhaps he would be one of us now," Magneto said with some regret.

"If that had happened, you wouldn't have been able to complete this machine. As long as we can successfully activate this machine, it will all be worth it," Azazel said, bowing elegantly with a humble expression.

Magneto glanced at the deeply bowed Azazel, his expression holding a flicker of amusement that quickly vanished.

He knew, and Azazel knew as well, that their relationship was one of mutual exploitation. Azazel served him, but if he were ever asked to be on the front lines in a life-or-death battle, Azazel would likely turn and walk away.

"What should we do now? Tony won't help us, and Rogue is being guarded very closely by his subordinates..."

"I'll do it myself!" Magneto donned his cape, his expression stern. "If I fail to capture her, I will personally activate the machine and turn all these world leaders and everyone in New York City into Mutants."

"But if you do that, you will..." Azazel looked shocked, though only he knew how much of that shock was genuine.

"It no longer matters. With Charles and Tony around, the Mutants will not perish. Compared to Charles, I'm actually more optimistic about Tony. He's a very cunning young man."

There was something else Magneto didn't say. He wasn't sure if Tony would truly care about the Mutants. Without that prerequisite, everything would be for nothing.

Magneto raised his hands slightly. Under his supreme Magnetic Field Control, he slowly began to float. For Magneto, flight was the simplest of matters.

"After I leave, you will all stay here and guard the machine. Do not leave the Statue of Liberty unless someone attacks us directly. Once I bring Rogue here, everything will have a new beginning. The future of the Mutants will become incomparably glorious and brilliant."

Magneto looked proudly at the members of his Brotherhood of Mutants, raising his hands high as if welcoming a new era.

The Mutants present were all visibly excited, their faces flushed as they roared at the top of their lungs.

"Where is Raven?" Magneto asked, turning his head.

"She should still be undercover at A.R.G.U.S. It's said she's discovered something incredible," Azazel said, his expression flickering.

Magneto gave him a cold glance and paid him no further mind. Mystique, Raven—her Shapeshifting ability allowed her to imitate anyone, including a one hundred percent match of fingerprints, making her the perfect spy.

He spread his hands slightly, and the great steel doors pulled apart. Just like that, Magneto flew out, soaring high into the sky. He sensed the magnetic fields of the countless people nearby, finally locking onto a direction and flying off at high speed.

If it came to dealing with Tony, he wouldn't hesitate in the slightest. He had poured too much of his heart and soul into preparing this machine. As long as it succeeded, the masters of this world would henceforth be the Mutants. A new world, a new era, would arrive—and he would bring it about.

Not to mention, Tony's Transformer Legion was made with metal exteriors, which were completely countered by his Magnetokinesis. In Magneto's view, even if Tony was also at the Level Four standard, his abilities would be easily crushed.

Besides, Tony had only just reached Level Four.

"Don't blame me, Tony. If you truly insist on standing against me, then I will have no choice but to kill you." Magneto silently shook his head. He had already sent his two children over, so his intentions must have been conveyed to Tony.

But, unfortunately, Tony had made the choice he least wanted to see.

They could only become enemies, and he might even have to strike a killing blow.

He was certain that his actions would allow the Mutants to welcome an unprecedented spring. They would become more perfect, and the disadvantage of their small population would no longer be a weakness.

And as for those people who took pride in their status as Ordinary Humans, how would they react when they saw the leaders they trusted in every industry all become Mutants?

In the night sky, Magneto flew alone, yet he brought with him an unimaginably immense pressure that bore down on the coast.

Magneto, one of the two pillars of the Mutants, had personally made his move.
