Chapter 206: MMP*2
Spirits of Vengeance are exceptionally sensitive to the undead. They possess a peculiar ability to perceive the Sin within humans and pass Judgment upon those whose Sins reach a certain threshold.
To put it bluntly, they simply kill them directly, ending the problem once and for all.
From the Ghost Rider's perspective, Tony's Sin was like the sole light in the darkness, glowing brightly and holding a fatal attraction for the Ghost Rider.
The Spirit of Vengeance within Johnny was already stirring restlessly, eager to transform into the Ghost Rider and pass Judgment on Tony for his Sin.
God only knows how many people or vampires Tony has killed; even he himself couldn't say for sure.
"Johnny, hang in there. Don't let that idiotic thing inside you suppress you..." Tony rubbed his forehead. A Ghost Rider who couldn't fully control himself was truly troublesome and would cause a lot of problems.
It's a double-edged sword. Wielded well, it could easily take down powerful enemies. Wielded poorly, you might get taken out by the Ghost Rider in a single move before you could even harm anyone else.
The Penance Stare—whoever it gazed upon would die. It was simply terrifying.
This was no longer a problem that could be solved with ordinary magic; it involved the domain of the Soul. Tony's research into the domain of the Soul could barely be considered entry-level. To think he had any deep understanding was a joke.
"Hahahaha..." Johnny let out a strange laugh. Flames began to intermittently appear on his face, and some of his skin started to peel off as a scorching heat rose from his body.
"Max, as soon as his transformation is complete, take this guy down immediately... A newborn Spirit of Vengeance is a one-track-minded creature. It sees everyone as a villain," Tony said.
The Little Tyrannosaurus Rex postured menacingly, letting out a juvenile roar at Johnny.
The Spirit of Vengeance finally emerged. It suppressed Johnny's Soul, seized control of his body, and became the Ghost Rider. The burning skull head turned to look at Tony, and whether it was an illusion or not, Tony distinctly sensed an emotion of greed.
"Villain, you are guilty!" The Ghost Rider raised the Ghost Rider's Chains, which he had pulled from who-knows-where, with a sense of sacred ritual.
The dense Sin swirling around Tony surpassed the total of everyone it had ever passed Judgment on. This made the young Spirit of Vengeance incredibly excited, its mind surging. A sense of righteous mission compelled it to punish evil, promote good, and pass Judgment on Tony's Sin.
With a cold expression, Max raised his hand to strike the Spirit of Vengeance back, but was suddenly stopped by Tony's outstretched arm.
"Sir?" Max was a little confused.
"We don't need to do anything. Someone will come to teach him a lesson..." Tony squinted at the incredibly excited Ghost Rider, a cold smirk on his face.
For some unknown reason, the Spirits of Vengeance had been exploited by the forces of Hell, becoming a tool for making deals with the humans of Earth.
As mentioned before, in the Hell Universe, there was a peculiar fellow who had sneakily made his way to Earth, tricking humans everywhere into signing Soul Contracts. That fellow was called Mephisto, also a Level Seven being.
The reason Johnny Blaze was able to obtain the Spirit of Vengeance was that he had made a deal with Mephisto as a child, wanting to save his terminally ill father. Mephisto did it, but then immediately had Johnny's father killed in a stunt show—in an "accident" where he fell to his death.
Mephisto used despicable means to deceive Johnny, using a contract to implant a dormant Spirit of Vengeance into his body.
Mephisto wanted to create a Ghost Rider to be his faithful lackey. It didn't matter whether the Ghost Rider was willing or not; everything was determined by the contract.
A contract that acts upon the Soul must be fulfilled, unless the Ghost Rider can reclaim the original contract he signed from Mephisto.
It was laughable, really. The Ghost Rider, whose lifelong mission was to Purge Sin, was forced to become the most loyal lackey of an Archdemon brimming with Sin.
As someone who had fought the forces of Hell on numerous occasions, the Ancient One sensed its aura and arrived immediately.
A portal slowly opened. Dressed in white robes and utterly spotless, the Ancient One stepped out and looked over the newly transformed Ghost Rider with an expression of surprise.
"A Spirit of Vengeance... It has been many years since I have seen one on Earth," the Ancient One said gently, a rare expression of pleasant surprise on her face.
Having guarded Earth for a thousand years, the Ancient One was naturally not ignorant about creatures like the Spirit of Vengeance. It was just that in recent years, these peculiar beings had all but vanished from Earth.
The world was growing increasingly chaotic. To see a new Spirit of Vengeance born, becoming another protective power for Earth, was of course a pleasant surprise for the Ancient One.
If the Ancient One was pleasantly surprised, the Ghost Rider was fucking ecstatic.
Others couldn't see anything, but in the Ghost Rider's perception, the Ancient One was completely filled with Sin from the inside out. The kind of dark power imperceptible to ordinary people was more attractive than a hundred Tonys!
The fundamental reason the Ancient One had lived for so long was that she secretly drew upon the power of her arch-nemesis, Dormammu. The corrosive and sinful dark power from the Dark Dimension had become tightly integrated into her body.
This was a villain delivering herself right to its doorstep!
The Ghost Rider was thrilled to bits, almost jumping up and screaming! The first time! This was the first time it had ever seen a villain so steeped in Sin! That dense dark power was like the most delicious food, making it break out in goosebumps from its overwhelming sense of mission!
"You are guilty!"
The Ghost Rider extended a skeletal index finger, pointing imperiously at the Sorcerer Supreme. Trembling with excitement, it howled and pulled out its Ghost Rider's Chains, about to charge forward.
The newborn Spirit of Vengeance had gone mad, declaring war on the Sorcerer Supreme!
"You villain, accept the Judgment of fate!"
The Ghost Rider roared confidently. With its tall, sturdy, flame-engulfed body, it looked down condescendingly at the somewhat short Ancient One, its arrogance palpable.
"This fucking idiot is so dead," Tony explained to a bewildered Max.
There was nothing wrong with a newborn Spirit of Vengeance. Such low EQ was actually a good thing; it saved a lot of trouble. After the Ancient One schooled it a few more times, its EQ would rise, and it would learn how to behave.
It's a common problem for rookies. Due to a lack of experience, if they don't get beaten down a few times, it's impossible for them to grasp things that high intelligence alone cannot.
The Ancient One smiled gently, as if she didn't have a bad temper, let alone feel anger. She walked over, looking gently at the newborn, vibrant, and energetic Spirit of Vengeance. The more she looked, the wider her smile grew.
*Smack!* With a crisp sound, the Sorcerer Supreme stepped forward and delivered a slap, just like she was disciplining her own son.
The Ghost Rider immediately fell to its knees.
That slap was definitely infused with terrifying magic power. For an undead being like the Spirit of Vengeance, which was immune to physical attacks, the Sorcerer Supreme, the Ancient One, was practically its natural nemesis.
On Earth, who would dare to compare their magic power with the Ancient One's?
"Well done, Tony. You've brought a lively Spirit of Vengeance," the Ancient One praised without reservation. "It's just that this little guy is now Mephisto's slave. It will take some effort to free him."
