Chapter 203

Chapter 200: The Burning Nation

Author: Great Demon Spirit

The royal palace of the Vampire Kingdom had long been plunged into the flames of war.

Its meticulously crafted defense systems, whether they were the various high-tech weapons rarely seen in the Outside World or the layered, astonishingly thick protective doors, were as useless as paper before the invaders.

No matter how advanced the weapons, they were useless against Max. No matter how tightly sealed the gates, they couldn't stop the penetration of a few electric currents.

The honor the Vampire Kingdom prided itself on was being torn to shreds bit by bit by a terrifying enemy, tossed to the ground like trash.

A flash of blue light streaked across the hall as a fine web of electricity shot from Max's hands, reducing all of the King's Guard to ash. Piles of dust accumulated in the magnificent palace, standing out starkly like comical graffiti.

"That guy Normark has already infiltrated the palace." The Old Bartender stabbed a Vampire to death with his blade, his cold eyes watching as people from various, clearly different Factions suddenly appeared and joined the siege of the palace.

Normark was the name of the Reaper Progenitor, a New Species created by the Vampire Kingdom.

"A manufactured wretch... Normark has gone to find the King for revenge," Max said, shaking his head. He casually released a stream of electricity, controlling the instruments to open the sealed gates.

In the face of Max, who controlled Electricity, the vast majority of technological items lost all meaning.

Normark was a tragic creature. His species' form was more advanced than that of a Vampire—which was exactly what the Vampire King had hoped for.

Since the collapse of the Council, the King had re-emerged to unify the various Vampire Faction and Ghoul Tribe Factions. This Old King, who had always ignored worldly affairs, had not shown his face for a very, very long time.

His research resulted in Normark—a stronger body, a faster infection rate, and fewer weaknesses. Although he had yet to eliminate the weakness to Sunlight, it was still a remarkable achievement.

The only exception was that Normark betrayed his king and father, frantically raised an army in the Outside World, and now wanted to return for revenge.

Even more tragically, Normark, full of hatred and ambition, ran headlong into his natural predator, Max. Under relentless pursuit and encirclement, Normark was ultimately left all alone to storm the palace.

It couldn't be helped. Max was too overpowered. Even if Normark desperately scattered his subordinates, they had nowhere to hide from Max, who could clearly see the Reapers' unique Bio-electric Field regardless of distance.

The Old King fled for his life in a panic, his steps staggering as he struggled to climb to the top floor of the palace. His aged body could no longer grant him powerful physical abilities; he was no different from any ordinary human elder.

He had lived for too long. Even for a Vampire, he was powerless against the erosion of time.

"As long as I can get to the helicopter, I can start all over. I must create the perfect Vampire, allowing all Noble Vampires to walk under the Sunlight! All those who kicked me when I was down and betrayed me today will pay the price! I will turn them into Blood Slaves!"

The Old King panted heavily, his chest heaving like a broken bellows. Every step he climbed depleted his already limited stamina.

"Where do you think you're going, father?" Normark pried open the multi-ton metal door with sheer brute force. His pale face looked ferociously at the man who had given him life.

And also the one who had ruined him.

The Old King cried out in alarm and fell to the ground in terror. He struggled, but it was difficult for him to stand up again. His limp body had lost the ability to resist, and fear crept into his heart.

"Normark, my child, I am sorry for what happened to you. That should not have happened..." the Old King said, his voice trembling.

Normark leaped across a distance of several dozen meters, grabbed the Old King's head, and pressed his own forehead against it, like an intimate father and son.

The two looked very much alike. Not only were their faces similar, but the Old King also had skin like Normark's. Beneath the pale, bloodless skin was a murky color, and there was not a single hair on his scalp.

Normark was practically a carbon copy of the Old King. Their gazes met as if the same person was staring at himself across time—a mix of fear, hatred, and complexity.

"Then tell me, why are you so afraid?" Normark whispered into the Old King's ear, and a single sentence plunged the Old King into an icy abyss. "I saw your Cultivation Pods. Inside were hundreds of palm-sized infant forms, all my little brothers and sisters... And before I was born, who knows how many more died because of your research."

Normark's murky eyes became incomparably crazed and terrifying.

"You shouldn't have created me, and even more so, you shouldn't have let me live after creating me! Now, I've come for my revenge. You've lived far too long!"

"It was an accident! My child, it was an accident!" the Old King wailed helplessly, flailing on the ground like an octopus.

"You sent a massive army to hunt me down. Was that also an accident?!"

Normark slowly opened his mouth. Starting from his chin, a distinct rift suddenly split open, and his entire mouth became like three fleshy petals. From deep within his throat, a bone-like object extended, its tip identically split into three.

The Old King screamed in terror. He knew exactly what this was: the new organ the Reapers used to inject the Reaper Virus and absorb blood. Anyone bitten by it, even a Vampire, would be powerless to resist becoming a new Reaper.

"I won't perform the Transformation on you, because in your old and frail state, you are completely useless to me." Saliva dripped continuously as Normark bit down on the Old King's neck, injecting a much more violent and ferocious virus.

The King, who had ruled the Vampire Kingdom for ages, died in just a few seconds. The virus crazily destroyed the tissues within his body, turning his complete internal organs into a turbid liquid.

BOOM!

Electro blasted the door open and charged in. The flashing light shone on Normark, causing him to scream miserably as the surface of his body gradually became charred black.

"Wait, I can follow you, become your loyal dog! The power of the Vampire Kingdom can all be yours to use!" Normark howled.

He didn't want to die yet.

"Tony once told me that a few years ago, the power of the Vampires was still considerable, but it's not much use anymore," Max said in a frigid tone. "Because the times have changed! Vampires have rapidly plummeted from the top of the food chain to the very bottom! In the future, creatures like you won't even have the right to participate!"

"Disgusting species should be—exterminated!"

Max raised his hands high. From his cold, hard pupils, two powerful streams of electricity suddenly shot out. The astonishing impact struck Normark, pinning him deep into the wall.

Normark himself was instantly turned to ash, no different from the other Vampires Max had killed.

"Starting today, starting now, the vampire race is extinct!"
