Chapter 199

Chapter 196 Strange

Author: Great Demon Spirit

In New Mexico, Electro was on a killing spree.

The extraordinary abilities Max displayed, along with the various peculiarities he showed while hunting Vampires, made many schemers deeply regretful, their eyes burning with envy.

"If only we had known this mutant was so powerful, we should have acted first that night! How could we let that guy Tony snatch him away?!"

"That bastard Tony, how is his luck so good!"

Many were burning with envy. Why, on the day Electro was born, did they only think of treating him as a threat? Especially as Max's terrifying capabilities were gradually revealed, his complete file had already been laid out on the desks of many organizations.

To put it bluntly, for a person who severely lacked a sense of presence, if someone had just opened up to him, Max would have become unwaveringly loyal without hesitation.

Unfortunately, their limited vision restricted their decisions. That day, when Max appeared in the square to devour electrical currents, causing a massive blackout, many people treated him as a threat.

First, capture him, then consider studying or recruiting—this was a common tactic for some organizations.

There was no way Max would fall for that.

After Max single-handedly eliminated dozens of Vampires, a polite-looking man stepped forward and extended an olive branch to him: "You deserve a more brilliant future. We sincerely invite you to join us."

Max remained expressionless, walking past without a second glance.

Many people tried to win him over, but Max wasn't having any of it.

"You want to recruit me now? Then why was Tony the only one who came looking for me that day?"

Max might be simple and honest, but that didn't mean he was an idiot.

The Ghoul Tribe, kept by the Vampires, deployed heavy weaponry, attempting to wipe Max out with a barrage of firepower.

But unfortunately for them, physical attacks were the last thing Max feared. His body could transform into countless electrical currents at any time, spreading out in all directions. Even if some currents were destroyed, Max could just rip off some cables and consume some electricity to be as good as new.

Moreover, following Tony's instructions, Max could now absorb a small amount of free electrons from the air to recharge, instead of relying on cables.

Max could control any high-tech equipment by casually releasing currents from his body. Bullets that struck his skin were instantly vaporized by the omnipresent current. When cannonballs flew at him, Max would simply send out a current to stop them in mid-air and then throw them right back where they came from.

Such a Max drove many into a state of helplessness and despair.

"Why is that bastard Tony so lucky? How did he just casually recruit a bug-level metahuman like this?" many people wailed.

They couldn't help it. In a modern city, Max was a bug. Wherever he went, there were power lines and cables. He could attack, defend, use teleportation, perform area-of-effect attacks, and control the battlefield. The deadliest part was, he had nearly infinite stamina and could kill for as long as he wanted without tiring.

Unless his spirit gave out and collapsed from exhaustion first.

His damage against Vampires was even more devastating; he could be called a walking, humanoid UV weapon arsenal.

Max's intelligence-gathering ability alone could rival a professional intelligence agency. By becoming an omnipresent current, he could infiltrate thousands of households to eavesdrop. As long as there was electricity, there was no stopping Electro.

Many Vampire strongholds were discovered by Max, and with the intelligence provided by Whistler and others, Max went on a killing spree.

Max completely let himself go, enjoying the killing of Vampires and Reapers immensely.

In just a few short days, tens of thousands of Vampires were killed by Max. Those secret strongholds, which had been hidden for many years, were uprooted by the all-pervasive Max.

The Vampires were on the verge of tears. "We agreed to hunt the Reapers together, didn't we? Why is this menace killing us too?"

Finally, Max tracked the Reapers' Brood Mother all the way toward the Vampire Kingdom's palace.

"That Brood Mother is actually the Vampire King's son?" Max was incredibly surprised when he received this information.

The reproductive speed of this new type of Vampire, the Reapers, was enough to make anyone break down. This was especially true now that the Brood Mother, desperate from Max's hunting, was crazily dispatching its subordinates to hunt humans and multiply its population.

If it weren't for Max's ruthlessness and astonishing killing speed, coupled with the layered interception from many other organizations, it would be hard to imagine what a terrifying disaster this new species would have caused.

These pale new creatures could convert someone with a single bite in just a few dozen minutes. Moreover, they were nearly impossible to kill, their life force absurdly strong, and besides sunlight, there were few other effective methods to eliminate them.

"Has the Vampire King gone mad? To actually experiment on his own son and transform him into such a bizarre creature?" the Old Bartender was also astonished.

What kind of king would transform his own son into the natural enemy of his own race?

"No matter what, we have to use this opportunity to completely crush the Vampire Kingdom, the sooner the better!" Max said with a deadpan expression.

Blade frowned and reminded him, "The Vampire Kingdom has connections to the upper echelons of human society. If the kingdom collapses, it will only cause many Vampires to lose their restraints, leading to more attacks on humans."

Max stubbornly shook his head. In many ways, he was learning Tony's style.

"Mr. Tony said that it's true Vampires are parasites, but that's predicated on having humanity—a massive entity that can easily spare a little blood—for them to feed on. Humanity isn't that fragile, and the various organizations aren't incompetent fools. When the time comes, they will naturally hunt down the scattered remnants."

Blade felt a headache coming on. Sometimes, he really didn't know what to do with this single-minded guy. What kind of bewitching potion did that guy Tony give him?

Several Vampire Hunters stormed the seventy-third stronghold. Without a single wasted word, they went in and started killing. With just a few flashes of bright light, the Vampires were annihilated by Max before they even knew what was happening.

It was like casually crushing a group of animals.

This place had already been attacked by the Reapers, and many Vampires had been turned.

A poor human had been bitten by a Reaper. He was clutching his neck in pain, on the verge of death.

"Inject him with the latest formulation of the antiviral serum," Blade said, holding the poor man's neck steady as he turned to Whistler.

Whistler limped over, took out a vial of pale red serum, and said, "Let me be clear, the serum against the Reapers isn't perfected yet. This is just a semi-finished product. The corrosive nature of these damn things is too strong!"

"Let's try our luck. At worst, we just have to be a little patient," Blade said, patting the poor man's face hard.

"Can you hear me? I'm going to inject you with the serum now. Whether you can pull through depends on your luck."

The man groaned in pain, his consciousness slightly blurred, and blood flowed endlessly from his neck. He murmured, forcing his eyes open, but his vision was a blur. He couldn't see clearly and could only manage a faint reply.

"Thank... thank you. My name is Victor Strange."
