Chapter 117

Chapter 117: New Ruler of Gotham City: tony

2022-10-19 Author: Great Demon Spirit

If the Old City not long ago was merely a pile of firewood ignited by a few sparks, now, the entire Old City has erupted into a towering blaze, with no possibility of extinguishing it unless it burns itself out.

The tide of revolution completely exploded in the Old City, sweeping across the entire city with the force of thunder.

Gotham City unprecedentedly erupted in armed revolution, with frail civilians forming an army, mercilessly slaughtering the numerous gangs lurking in the Old City. This situation had never occurred before: one after another, vicious gangs were dragged out of their houses by the once lamb-like civilians and brutally killed.

This situation intensified, and also gave rise to some undesirable developments, such as rioters.

Bang!

Anderson coldly shot the person in front of him. Even though the person was kneeling and begging profusely, Anderson still killed them mercilessly. In these past days, many former allies had been killed by Anderson and his subordinates.

Unrestricted power inevitably breeds darkness; this statement is entirely true. Because a single power cannot benefit only one person; an entire team will benefit. If one person harbors ill intentions and acts on them, the exorbitant profits gained will corrupt the hearts of the entire team.

Initially honorable oaths of justice will be eroded over the passage of time, ultimately leading people in another direction.

Anderson's approach was to handle things with the most brutal methods. There was no persuasion or guidance; just kill, kill, kill. By eliminating all those with crooked intentions, there would naturally be no so-called rioters.

After he was caught by Batman and had a conversation, he was thrown into prison — though his entry into prison was an extension of tony's plan, leveraged as part of it. At the critical moment, he secretly escaped and rescued Batman's woman.

But his trip to Arkham Asylum changed Anderson a great deal. He encountered too many vicious villains inside. Anderson became less cautious; if someone needed to be killed, he would kill without mercy. If he had Batman's abilities, he could also decide the lives and deaths of many people. Since he didn't, he would just kill them directly.

"I'm afraid you also wish for me to do this... to resolve the Old City's issues with the most brutal methods, keeping the situation under control..." Anderson thought to himself. tony had thrown him into the Old City, giving him channels and power. No matter what, he had to achieve something.

Otherwise, tony might really abandon him, cast him aside to find others, or even take action himself.

Fortunately, what he had done was passable.

"Boss, new information. Maroni's body has been discovered, mostly charred." A subordinate quickly rushed over and showed him a photo.

"Even Maroni is dead, and the entire Falcone Crime Family has vanished! Our chance has come!" Anderson's eyes suddenly lit up, his heart filled with excitement. "No more holding back! Bring out all the weapons and distribute them! This is the opportunity Boss tony told us about; we'd be fools if we couldn't seize even this!"

Inside the room, everyone's eyes lit up, their expressions greatly invigorated.

They obeyed Anderson, but everyone knew that the mysterious tony was the boss behind the scenes. Anderson had told them this frankly upon his return to the Old City.

Mechanist tony was the true mastermind behind all of this; he single-handedly initiated the revolution. Only with a formidable individual like the Mechanist overseeing things from behind the scenes could these unruly people be kept in check.

At this moment, tony sat calmly in a luxurious room in Wayne Tower, reclining on a chair, swaying back and forth. The wine glass in his hand tilted with his movements, the red wine gently sloshing within.

He squinted, looking at the bustling city view outside the window. With his other hand, he slowly put down his phone, ending the reporting call from Anderson.

Everything was going smoothly. The final outcome was as perfect as he had imagined; the general situation in the Old City was settled. With Maroni's death as a turning point, large numbers of gangs would never be able to rise again, though many, many people had died in the process.

The Court of Owls was the source of evil in Gotham City. After being severely damaged and brought over to his side, they were silently licking their wounds, not daring to easily provoke tony again.

Because this tony really dared to kill, and he was the type who would utterly annihilate and root out all evil.

"Leaving Anderson as the leader commanding the various resistance factions in the Old City... as long as he isn't crazy, he won't truly overestimate himself, saving me the trouble of conflicts with various factions." tony took a sip of red wine, comfortably narrowing his eyes.

Amanda understood, then opened the door and walked out.

She was a very smart woman; she clearly understood her place.

On the other side, Crane wore glasses, reading a book like a good-natured gentleman, watching tony out of the corner of his eye. Various thoughts surged in his mind.

"The new ruler of Gotham City..." Crane buried his head deeply in the book, as if the book in his hand possessed some magic power.

No one would be foolish enough to think that the armed factions in the Old City would obediently lay down their weapons after succeeding. Their ferocity and bloodlust had already been ignited. Having enjoyed the view from the top, they wouldn't be content to return to the bottom. Not to mention, they had nothing to begin with; those with bare feet don't fear those with shoes.

tony was controlling them in a peculiar way, hiding himself, yet ensuring his influence. Especially since tony's own power and influence were astonishing, giving him the right to overturn the table at any moment. If one also considered the Court of Owls and Batman, neither could contend with him.

Unless someone capable of killing tony appeared in the Old City, it would be impossible to unify the various armed factions. But this was almost impossible. Many people wanted to kill tony, but none had succeeded so far.

tony was one of the few people who had visited the Brotherhood of Mutants and the X-Men. This made many people speculate about how strong the supporting power behind him truly was. Moreover, he was now one of the major shareholders of Stark Industries and Wayne Enterprises.

That's right, tony unceremoniously demanded shares from Bruce, his actions crude and direct, bluntly demanding that Bruce repay him with money.

tony also held 0.5% of Wayne Enterprises shares. This was the best defensive shield. He had established himself in the business world, no longer just a lone wolf who only knew how to fight and kill.

tony had become the unshakeable underground king of Gotham City. Both the political and business circles had to give him face.

"Crane!" tony suddenly called out.

Crane instinctively shivered, swallowed, snapped out of his thoughts, and looked up at tony.

"Has Bruce contacted me?" tony said, his tone playful. "Aside from sending you and Anderson to rescue someone that night, I've ordered you to stay in this room. Don't tell me you secretly snuck out."

"No, I've never left." Crane quickly shook his head. "The landline in this room has never rang, I can confirm. Why don't you leave Bruce your mobile number? He could just contact you directly then."

"That won't do. Mr. Wayne is a famous playboy, and no one knows which socialite he's secretly meeting. Mr. Wayne never accepts a man's phone number." tony said meaningfully.

At this time, Bruce should still be with Rachel.
