Chapter 100: What Did You Say?
2022-10-19 By Great Demon Spirit
An owl lurked in the shadows, coldly watching everything.
Numerous high-temperature armor-piercing rounds blasted a group of Transformers, constantly sending large amounts of metal shrapnel, severed limbs, and exploded scrap metal flying everywhere. Under these high-temperature armor-piercing rounds, only Optimus Prime and Arcee managed to protect themselves under Tony's generous Allspark Energy coverage.
The other Transformers were in a miserable state; the worst off were already torn into a thousand pieces and riddled like a sieve.
Fortunately, due to the strong electromagnetic interference from the ground, these missiles suffered from targeting issues; only a few managed to hit accurately, with most either going wide or being dodged in time by the Transformers.
Tony directed them to specifically fire at the hidden missile silos, prioritizing the destruction of closer ones, as these silos, due to their proximity, had relatively higher accuracy and posed a greater threat to the Transformers.
"What a pity, Bruce. You don't dare to carpet bomb this area directly with high-temperature armor-piercing rounds. Your armor is too valuable; this high-temperature area would also melt the precision parts in your armor. Since you used Adamantium and Vibranium for the outer shell, it would lack ceramic insulation. Your various joint components simply can't withstand this high temperature."
Arcee drew two long swords—these two swords were nearly two meters long, veritable longswords. With her minimal mass, her movements were the most agile, allowing her to move relatively quickly within this electromagnetic field.
With a short run-up, Arcee aimed from a distance at the armored suit and forcefully threw the long sword in her hand. Arcee's strength was a full ten tons; when thrown with full force, this long sword was more terrifying than any armor-piercing round. Its terrifying kinetic energy directly severed one of the armored suit's arms.
The armored arm fell off, dazzling sparks erupted from the joint, and one could vaguely see the complex circuitry within the bulkhead.
Tony seized the opportunity to rush over, transforming his hands into hand blades. He viciously destroyed the opponent's two legs, and sparks flew everywhere. It was clear this armored suit wouldn't be able to stand up.
"How cunning, even now he didn't forget to send out a remote-controlled armor..."
Tony muttered. Just at the moment of contact, he had discovered that this armor was hollow... but now it was irrelevant; he still had many unused trump cards.
Even if the exoskeleton armor extensively used Vibranium and Adamantium, its joints and internal delicate parts did not. Tony could still permeate them with Allspark Energy; even if he couldn't animate the armor completely, it wouldn't be difficult to render half of it useless.
What's more, his Optimus Prime and Arcee were designed for energy output. Tony had embedded core modules inside them; they had just been feigning weakness to set traps.
Everything was to draw out the Court of Owls. He absolutely had to get his hands on the Dionysium; otherwise, this trip to Gotham City would be meaningless, and he would have needlessly antagonized Batman. This time, the Anti-Tony armor was dismantled and taken away by Tony. Who knows, next time they meet, Anti-Tony Armor Mark II and Anti-Tony Armor Mark III might even appear.
Unless he killed Batman with his own hands.
The armored suit, sparking and with its limbs damaged, lay somewhat helplessly on the ground. Tony's Allspark Energy instantly permeated it, attempting to animate its internal components to make it completely lose its ability to resist.
Arcee also slowly stood beside Tony, just in case. By the way, Tony had thought Bruce might have placed a bomb inside, but there wasn't one. This didn't quite fit Batman's image, where nine out of ten moves were sneaky tricks.
Then the armor made a soft sound, its chest split open, and sprayed a stream of acid at Arcee. The strong acid covered Arcee, emitting a series of hair-raising sizzling sounds. With a thud, Arcee appeared to suffer heavy damage and fell weakly to the ground.
"That's more like it, this is Bruce's damn style... If he had set up a bomb, it would have been a blunder; I would have instantly animated it," Tony murmured.
The electromagnetic field suddenly stopped, and the lights of Gotham City came back on. Numerous missile silos also ceased their bombardment. Looking around, this area was a complete mess, the ground covered with metal debris and ashes from the explosions, while some areas still retained astonishingly high temperatures.
A bulky figure rushed out from the corner and landed a heavy punch on Tony's back.
This time, it was Batman himself. He was laboriously donning a bulky armor. In his eyes, he wore electronic contact lenses—Wayne Enterprises' latest product—and he used them to control the Anti-Tony armor.
"You're very clever, Bruce," Tony said. "If you dared to carry electronic devices on you, you'd simply be seeking death." Tony stood up nonchalantly. He surveyed this bulky armor and didn't detect any energy circuit.
"This armor of mine is purely powered by my physical body," Batman retorted. "You can't control something without an energy circuit! Come back with me, Harvey cannot die!" Batman strode over, once again raised his fist and smashed it at Tony, but was easily caught.
"Bruce, Harvey can't save this city," Tony said. "This city is more troubled than you realize. What's more, Harvey himself has problems; he's not as bright as you imagine..."
Batman slightly twitched a finger, seemingly sending a signal. A giant building rose in the distance. Alfred sat inside and pressed a button, and a wave of ultrasonic sound spread towards Tony and Bruce.
A sudden slight dizziness and nausea spread over Tony's body.
"An ultrasonic weapon? Bruce, you truly went to great lengths. Anyone else would have long since collapsed under your continuous methods. Unfortunately, this thing isn't as effective on me now; my vital signs are higher than you imagine."
Tony gritted his teeth, and with his other hand, tore off Batman's mask. Without the protection of a special material mask, the intense ultrasonic waves made Bruce instantly unable to bear it, and he knelt on the ground, vomiting loudly.
Alfred watched this scene, his face turned pale with shock. He hurriedly shut off the ultrasonic weapon and rushed out the door with a gun.
Tony held down Bruce, punching him in the face again and again. His fists were heavy, each blow leaving a mark on Bruce's face.
"You used so many methods just to deal with me," Tony yelled, gripping Bruce. "Do you think Harvey can save Gotham City? Who do you think he is, a god? You're just transferring all the pressure to him; sooner or later, it will break him! You place your hopes in the Knight of Justice, you believe Harvey can save Gotham City, but how much do you actually know about Harvey as a person?! How much do you know about the darkness in Harvey's heart?!"
Tony's last punch sent Bruce flying. Bruce's entire face was battered and bruised, mingling with the falling rain from the sky.
"I have to do this..." Bruce trembled, the bulky armor making him feel powerless with every movement. "Some things only I can do. If even Batman retreated... who else would do it? In Gotham City, Batman is a symbol of courage... Gotham City can exist without Bruce, but it must have Batman..."
He had failed. His intensive preparations, precise calculations, complex schemes, and enormous investments—all had failed. Unless he went all in and blasted all the missile silos towards this location to take Tony down with him... But looking at the situation, Optimus Prime showed no fear of these missiles whatsoever, so the end result would still be useless.
He stood up, stubbornly raising both fists. "Come back with me, Harvey cannot die. He is the legitimate dawn; I won't be wrong about him..."
"I'm not going! That guy Harvey isn't as righteous as he appears!" Tony retorted curtly, selectively gathering the remains of the Anti-Tony armor.
"You have to come," Bruce gasped. "I have hostages... Tony! You must come back with me, or I'll kill them! This is my last resort, you must come back with me! Since you can make civilians fight to the death against gangsters, why are you so strong, yet afraid to take risks?"
