Chapter 375

Chapter 374: Mutants! Days of Future Past!

In 1974, 11 years had passed since the assassination of President Kennedy. During this period, two major incidents that caused a global sensation occurred: the Magneto assassination incident and the death of Dr. Trask.

Because the perpetrators behind both incidents were Mutants, public opinion completely spiraled out of control. In the eyes of the angry public, Mutants were nothing short of murderous Demons.

On the international stage, Governments of various countries regarded them as extremely dangerous Terrorist. For a time, under the joint push of multiple forces, all Mutants were pushed to the opposite side of humanity, completely becoming public enemies that everyone wanted to strike down.

Canada.

In a bar located in a remote mountain area, a man with a peculiar hairstyle and lean muscles sat at the counter, drinking beer glass after glass.

"Buddy, those muscles of yours are really cool. You must be a lumberjack." The male bartender smiled and refilled the man's beer glass. He wasn't mocking him; as one of the globally recognized most dangerous jobs, lumberjacks held a respectable status in the hearts of Canadians.

Logan Howlett, a cigar in his mouth, did not respond. Instead, he glanced out of the corner of his eyes at the stack of newspapers piled high nearby. More accurately, it was the man behind the stack of newspapers. The man wore a white suit that seemed out of place among the others. He wore an off-white hat, his gaze was calm and confident, his eyes fixed on the newspaper in his hand. Compared to the other people in the bar, the handsome man had clean and tidy fingernails, without a trace of dirt.

He seemed like a business elite from a big city, yet he carried a unique aura only found in those in positions of power.

"I need more newspapers." Xia Shang looked up, folded the newspaper, and placed it on the stack of newspapers nearby.

"Mr., these are all the newspapers I could find. Even if you turned this place upside down, you wouldn't find a second different newspaper, I can guarantee that." The male bartender shook his head and spread his hands.

"Thanks."

Xia Shang took out a large denomination bill, placed it on the counter, and said, "Two beers. I'll buy this buddy next to me a drink, and the rest is yours."

"You are truly too generous. I really hope you can visit often." The male bartender grinned, revealing a set of white teeth.

"I don't accept favors without merit. Do you know me?"

Seeing the male bartender place a beer in front of him, Logan Howlett immediately frowned, turned around, slowly took the cigar out of his mouth, and said with a deep gaze.

Not many people knew him, especially in this remote mountain area.

Unless the other party was sent by the Military.

"You could say I know you. I've heard of you before, but this is the first time we've actually met." Xia Shang looked at Wolverine, the corner of his mouth slightly raised. With such a unique appearance, it would be hard not to recognize him. What surprised him was meeting the other party at this point in time. If he remembered correctly, Wolverine should have just recently gone into seclusion. He wondered if he had met Silver Fox yet.

"What is Stryker to you?" Logan was still probing, staring intently into the other party's eyes, trying to find a flaw.

If the other party was indeed sent by Stryker, he would not hesitate to use his bone claws to slit the other party's throat, and then find another place to go into seclusion again.

"I've heard of him, but I haven't met him, and I have no relationship with him." Xia Shang's face was calm, his expression without a ripple.

"The alcohol is good, I need to head back."

Logan picked up the beer on the counter, drank it in one gulp, and then decisively walked out of the bar. Who exactly was the other party? Did he really have no relationship with Stryker? He pulled open the car door, inserted the key, and twisted it forcefully, while simultaneously observing through the rearview mirror whether the other party had followed. However, he didn't even see a single person. Could it be that he was thinking too much? Logan didn't want to change his residence because of a slight disturbance; that would be too troublesome, and he couldn't find a good place in a short time.

"Cautious, steady, truly the Wolverine I remember." Xia Shang picked up the beer, looked at the bar's main door, and took a small sip.

Compared to interacting with Wolverine, solving the trouble he was facing was the top priority.

It was now 1974. Xia Shang pulled out a newspaper from the stack dated 1973. Written on it in bold black font was a headline that occupied half the page: [Mutant Kills Dr. Trask in Public! Can the Sentinel Program Save Humanity?]

Below the headline was a black and white photo of Mystique. From the photo, one could see the fear on the faces of the surrounding public, as well as Mystique, who appeared uncomfortable being surrounded.

"Days of Future Past." Xia Shang's eyes narrowed slightly. No wonder the Panel reminded him that once the time node where the player was located disappeared, the player would also be completely annihilated. In other words, if Days of Future Past in the original plot succeeded, it would mean that the timeline after 1973 would be rewritten and replaced by a new timeline. And he, being in the old timeline, would naturally disappear along with that timeline.

"Once a new history begins, the old history will disappear."

Xia Shang murmured softly.

Therefore, what he had to do next was to turn the old history into a new history. Simply put, he had to prevent the Sentinels from appearing in the future and change the views of various Governments and the public towards Mutants. Only by doing so could the danger be completely nipped in the bud.

"I think I know what to do."

Xia Shang put down the glass, then got up and walked towards the bar.

…………

An airplane descended from high altitude to Washington Airport in the United States. Xia Shang, wearing a white suit, walked off the airplane with the crowd.

In The Boys World, discourse power belonged to the news media, while in this world, discourse power belonged to the various Newspaper Agencies. In an era where information was not developed, newspapers became the only means for the public to obtain information. As long as one controlled the newspapers, it was equivalent to controlling the throats of the people. Xia Shang was certain that ordinary humans had always been ignorant and blindly obedient. This point had never changed since the day humanity was born.

"Could you please help me withdraw thirty thousand US dollars?" Xia Shang walked into Washington Bank, approached the counter, and smiled at the female teller.

"No problem, please show..." Halfway through her sentence, the female teller's gaze suddenly froze, and then she smiled and handed air to Xia Shang: "Please keep the voucher, I will process your withdrawal immediately."

"Thank you."

Xia Shang put the cash wrapped in oiled paper into his pocket, then strode out of the bank.

Subsequently, under the money offensive, a kind passerby quickly led Xia Shang to a Newspaper Agency. Although the Newspaper Agency's reputation was not as great as The Sun or The Washington Post, it could be considered a Newspaper Agency with moderate influence. The Newspaper Agency's office was located in an Office Building. Most of the office staff inside had clean clothes, and their demeanor was completely different from the pedestrians on the street.

"Could you please take me to see the Club President of your Newspaper Agency? I have something I'd like to discuss with him."
