Chapter 884 Aftermath
When everything had settled, it was already dawn. The Justice League's transport aircraft slowly ascended from Santa Prisca Island, bathed in the morning light.
Two hundred and fourteen cultists were evenly distributed among four transport aircraft, each guarded by two to three Justice League members.
The Young Justice League members, due to their Bio-Ship, naturally had to return on their own. Batman made arrangements for them.
He instructed the Team members who participated in the mission to return directly to Mount Justice. The League would conduct physical examinations on their bodies. After resting, there would be mission reports waiting for everyone.
These were all commonplace procedures, not just for them, a group of children. Justice League members also had to go through these steps after completing a mission.
Physical examinations were to prevent anyone from suffering injuries invisible to the naked eye. In addition to the modern medical examination provided by Cyborg, there was also a magical examination provided by Zatanna's Papa Giovanni.
Physical health was the top priority, so the Young Justice League members, despite their weary bodies, completed the physical examinations before returning to their rooms to rest.
When Dick woke up, it was already evening. He hadn't expected to sleep for so long. When he arrived at the restaurant, he found that he was still considered an early riser.
Apart from Harm, there was no one else in the restaurant.
"You're awake," Harm finished the last bit of food on his plate. "There's still some lasagna in the oven. Since I didn't know when you guys would wake up, I kept it warm inside."
"Lasagna?" Dick didn't walk towards the kitchen. Instead, he pulled out a chair and sat down next to Harm. "Eating something so heavy-flavored right after waking up?"
"Superhumans have high energy consumption. This morning, Kid Flash had already eaten more than a dozen energy bars before falling asleep."
After Harm finished explaining, he got up, took his plate, and walked towards the kitchen. Dick immediately got up and followed him, looking hesitant.
"You look like you have something to say?" Harm placed the plate in the dishwasher, causing Dick's body, who was pretending to take lasagna out of the oven behind him, to stiffen.
"It's nothing much, just wanted to ask about what happened on the island before."
Dick bent down to put the lasagna onto his plate while asking casually.
The reason Dick asked this question was because Harm had displayed mind power on Santa Prisca Island that was completely different from his usual strength.
According to the Justice League's test and the data Harm himself provided, his ability should not be stronger than Miss Martian's. However, when holding the rear on the island, he controlled all the teammates, including Miss Martian.
Although there was suspicion of a sneak attack, he shattered Miss Martian's mental defense in an instant. This was not something an ordinary person could do.
In Dick's impression, the only ones who could do this were probably Martian Manhunter of the Justice League and Brainwave, a super villain. The remaining telepaths on Earth should not be able to do this.
Concealing one's own ability was fatal for a team, but Dick was glad that Harm revealed his strength because he wanted to protect his teammates' safety.
"While you were sleeping, I already reported to Batman," Harm turned around, looking like he didn't want to say much more.
"If you have any problems, you can ask him. I need time to rest now."
After speaking, Harm turned and left the kitchen. Dick didn't stop him, just stood in the kitchen and finished the lasagna on his plate in a few bites. After throwing the utensils into the dishwasher, he walked towards the talk room.
It was still the same talk room. After Dick knocked on the door, he heard a familiar, low, hoarse voice.
"Please come in."
Dick pushed open the door and indeed saw Batman sitting on a chair. In front of him was a device that looked like a tablet, and he seemed to be dealing with some important business.
Seeing Dick walk in, Batman closed the tablet and gestured for Dick to sit down opposite him. The latter walked over to the chair in a few steps and sat down obediently.
"Talk," Batman said, changing his posture. He could finally relax a bit in front of his own child.
Seeing this, Dick didn't delay either. He had been working with Batman for a long time and lived with him usually, so he was already used to it.
Dick cleared his throat and then narrated the events that happened on Santa Prisca Island in a simple and organized manner.
Batman didn't interrupt in the middle, just listened quietly until Dick finished narrating before opening his mouth to speak.
"Except for what happened after Harm was captured, what you said is almost exactly the same as what Harm said."
"Speaking of Harm, he displayed powerful mind power on Santa Prisca Island, even controlled all of us in a short time."
Dick raised the problem that he couldn't get a reply from Harm just now to Batman again.
"I just ran into him in the restaurant and asked him questions, but he didn't answer me. Instead, he told me to ask you."
Batman nodded and said, "Regarding this problem, Harm has already mentioned it to me. He has indeed been concealing his strength."
"Concealing strength? Why?" Dick couldn't understand.
"Because of the Illuminati," Batman spoke of this organization that had been mentioned many times again. "Harm revealed to me that the purpose he was created for was not actually to protect Conner, but to kill him."
"What?!" Dick was shocked. He hadn't expected that the two, who usually called each other brothers, would have such a bloody relationship.
"But..."
"Harm was created privately by Dr. Desmond. Although Desmond invented the Blockbuster formula, he was not valued in the Illuminati. The purpose of the Illuminati's higher-ups sending him to Cadmus Labs was actually to guard Superboy."
"In Dr. Desmond's view, Superboy was just a boring clone body. However, the Illuminati's higher-ups believed that the value of this so-called thing was above him. So, he wanted to invent a creature even more powerful than Kryptonian."
"This creature was the mutants in Cadmus Research Institute. They were just failed products and appendages of Desmond's ultimate invention. The only truly successful one was Harm, the so-called Weapon O."
Batman swallowed his saliva, then continued, "Desmond succeeded, but also failed, because he gave Harm too high intelligence and growth time, allowing Weapon O, who was originally supposed to be a weapon, to develop his own worldview."
"So, the normally grown Weapon O rejected his creator's mission and disguised himself as a failed product."
