Chapter 811 Spider Silk
This was a very shocking Scene. Peter estimated that if you just raised your head on Earth, you could see these countless Silk threads made of Lantern Rings.
"These... are all Green Lantern Rings?" Peter was so Shocked he could barely speak.
"I think so." Cindy let go of her Hand. Without support, Peter immediately fell to the Ground. Only then did he realize that Cindy had been holding him up the whole time.
"When..." Peter struggled to stand up, muttering under his breath as he looked up at the Sky filled with Green Light.
"I'm not sure either. I just woke up and saw this Scene." Cindy stood to one side, arms crossed. "I felt this Energy was very similar to what you used to hit me with earlier, so I woke you up."
"More than similar, it's exactly the same." Peter raised his Right Hand, and a jade-green ring hung quietly on his Middle Finger.
However, compared to the dazzling Green Light in the Sky, the ring on his Hand looked much dimmer, like a lightbulb that had run out of Energy.
This wasn't surprising. He'd just used up all the Energy in the Lantern Ring to save his sister. According to the Microcomputer's Manual, the simplest Method to Recharge the Lantern Ring was to find the Lantern Battery.
So the Problem is, where is the Lantern Battery?
It was like the eleventh of the world's top ten unsolved mysteries. Peter hadn't even had time to finish reading the complete Manual before being forced onto the Battlefield to fight his sister.
As a result, Peter still didn't know another Method to Recharge the Lantern Ring, and could only stare blankly at the Lantern Ring with no Energy.
This Feeling was like holding a Mobile phone with no Electricity, his Heart filled with emptiness.
"What's wrong?" Cindy cast a questioning Gaze. "Aren't you going with us?"
"I wish I could." Peter gave a wry smile, then showed Cindy his Right Hand with the ring. The dim Green Lantern Ring answered all her questions.
"Looks like you're out of Electricity?"
"Exactly, you could say that."
Peter nodded in agreement. Without the Help of the Lantern Ring, he was just an Ordinary Person, willing but unable, with no way to participate in the upcoming Battle.
"That's fine, then I can stay by your side."
Peter pretended to be relieved, just about to walk over to his sister, but she preemptively gave him a Forehead Flick.
"Ouch!" Peter covered his reddening Forehead, looking at his sister in disbelief.
"What? Why did you hit me?"
"Just to snap you out of it." Cindy frowned. "Aren't you supposed to be a Genius? Why are you helpless now?"
"Come on, Cindy!" Peter threw his Hands up in exasperation. "This is Technology I've never even seen before. I don't even know what Material the ring is made of, let alone take it apart and Research it."
"Weren't you just going on about Willpower and stuff? Why don't you use Willpower to think of a Method now?"
Peter looked as if he'd heard something unbelievable. He widened his Eyes at his sister, as if to say, 'Do you even hear yourself?'
Clearly, the siblings weren't on the same Channel. Peter was talking about rational Things, Cindy about emotional Things.
"Didn't you say it yourself when you were beating me up? Green Light is the embodiment of Willpower, Green Light uses Willpower as Energy. Maybe not exactly those Words, but the meaning is pretty much the same."
Cindy grabbed Peter's Tie, speaking in a tone of exasperated disappointment.
"What, you had all that Willpower when you were beating up your own sister, but now when it's time to fight others you've gone quiet? You're just a Guy who's tough at home but weak outside."
"I was doing it to save you!"
Even Peter, with his good temper, couldn't help but get annoyed at this Time. Having good intentions mistaken for ill will was definitely one of the most infuriating Things.
"Then bring out that Aura again, and use it to save more Humans!"
Cindy used a Great God Roar, her voice even louder, pushing Peter back. The Sound really stunned Peter, leaving him speechless for a few Seconds.
"In this World, it's not just me who needs saving right now." Cindy's Eye Socket were red-rimmed, and combined with the Scar on her Face, Peter was left speechless.
"You should be able to see how bad this World is right now. It's possible that we're just one Power away from losing everything. And it's not just you, I'm joining the Battle too."
"You? What can you even do?" Peter asked instinctively.
"More than you, that's for sure." Cindy pulled back her Sleeve, revealing the Web-shooter on her Wrist.
"This is from when that Hammer Controlled me to kill myself from the Parallel Universe. It's perfect for now."
As Cindy spoke, she shot out a few strands of Spider Silk, repairing her tattered Clothes. At the same Time, she also used Spider Silk to weave herself a Mask, revealing only her Eyes.
"When I was Trapped, when I was being Controlled, even just now, I was thinking, do I even want to keep being a Hero? But I've figured it out, I have to."
Cindy's Eyes were filled with determination as she said, "If I back down over something this Small Matter, wouldn't that prove I really lost to that Woman? Even someone like me is facing Persecution, what about those weaker than me? Aren't they in even more Danger?"
"So, I have to stand up, for myself, and for Others."
Peter was so Shocked he could barely speak. He didn't know when it happened, but the little Girl who used to just annoy him had grown up to a point where he had to learn from her.
Peter realized he wasn't as good as his sister. When he'd been chosen by the Green Lantern Ring, all he'd thought about In Mind was his Family, he hadn't considered things as deeply as his sister.
"With great Power comes great Responsibility."
Cindy tugged at her Mask. Even though her Sound was muffled, these Words still resonated deeply with Peter.
"Is that something Uncle Ben used to say?" Peter asked.
"Maybe, I don't remember either. I just said what I was Feeling."
Cindy scratched her Head, then turned and walked towards the Direction of the Sea of Fire.
"What are you doing?" Peter tried to stop Cindy, but realized his Strength was no match for her anymore.
"To do what I have to do." Cindy shot out Spider Silk, pulling herself up onto a vertical Steel Bar.
"I've been thinking, I'm still just a beginner, not worthy of the Title Spider-Woman yet. From now on, I'll be called..."
Cindy looked at her Attire and said, "Silk, yeah, from now on I'll be Silk. Hurry up and catch up, Green Lantern."
With that, Silk shot out Spider Silk and Swung away without looking back.
Peter was left alone, watching his sister, who had figured out her Road ahead of him. Peter kept repeating a sentence in his Heart.
"With great Power comes great Responsibility."
