Chapter 761 Source of Fear—Prophecy's loophole
Facing Laufey's barking, Yang Le just shrugged. Not to mention if he could do it, the prisoner could only talk big now.
"Jotunheim, Alfheim, Muspelheim," Odin stroked his beard. "If it's the Three Realms Allied Forces, it is indeed a bit troublesome, but it's still no match for the Asgardian Allied Forces."
"It seems that the current situation is not too severe. Without you, Leader, the Frost Giants are just rabble. The weakness of this Three Realms Allied Forces is obvious. I can free myself to deal with the Great Serpent."
The more Odin spoke, the more feasible he felt it was. Then he said to Laufey, "Let's chat again after this event is over, old friend."
Hearing Odin say this, it was clear he intended to imprison Laufey until the end of the war. The latter laughed loudly upon hearing Odin's words.
"Bang!" Before Laufey could laugh a few times, Thor slammed a hammer into his face. With this hammer, a large amount of blue blood burst out, splashing in the cell.
"Hehe..." Laufey had few teeth left in his mouth, but he still showed a smug expression. "Did you think we wouldn't expect this? See you on the battlefield, Odin."
After speaking, Laufey's body suddenly trembled. Thor frowned, wanting to lean down to check what was wrong with him. The next second, large ice crystals burst out from under Laufey's skin.
Seeing this, Thor turned the God Hammer in his hand and shattered all the ice crystals. The whirlwind generated by the God Hammer formed a shield, protecting Odin and others behind him as well.
When everything settled, looking at Laufey again, he was completely inhuman. Not to mention complete flesh and blood, even his bones were broken into pieces. Countless ice crystals wrapped his remains in the center, looking like a work of art.
"He committed suicide?" Thor frowned. "If he was going to commit suicide, what did he mean by those words just now?"
"Obviously, Laufey's death is not that simple," Yang Le took over the topic. "Perhaps in his view, he didn't think he would die."
Thor asked in puzzlement, "But, no matter how you look at it, he's not alive, right?"
Odin did not join the conversation. He thought for a while with an uncertain expression, and finally exhaled a mouthful of foul air. "It's Hela. Just now, after Laufey died, his soul was immediately summoned away. The only person I can think of who can do this is her."
The Mistress of Helheim, the Goddess of Death Hela, is different from Mephisto in Hell. Hela is more interested in souls on the World Tree other than Earth, especially the souls of Odin and Thor.
Unlike Hela in the Movie Universe, Hela in the Comic Universe is even stronger. Strong enough that even Thor in the Comic Universe cannot confront her head-on, and even Odin has to give her some respect.
Hela in the Comic Universe is a powerful being who can truly influence the Multiverse. If it's her, she can indeed directly snatch Laufey's soul, because this is originally her job.
In the Comics, Hela even plundered Odin's soul. It can be said that as long as you are not alive, you have a natural disadvantage when facing Hela, and even Odin has no method to resistance.
"It seems we need to re-plan," Odin sighed.
"I need to leave first, everyone," Yang Le suddenly resigned. "Now that the Sky Hammer has all landed on Earth, I need to go back and take a look to prevent any trouble."
"I'll go with you too," Thor said hastily. He thought that if he went to Earth, he might be able to see Loki. His brain was now full of thoughts about rescuing Loki.
"No, Thor, you cannot go to Earth now," Odin shook his head, which caused Thor's puzzlement. "Why?"
… When Laufey regained consciousness, he had already left the Asgardian dungeon. What came into his eyes was an endless expanse of gray and white, a familiar substance that looked like snow and also like ash, scattered all over the world.
"Welcome back~" Laufey turned his head and saw Malekith standing behind him. It seemed he had been revived.
"Congratulations, Your Excellency Giant King. Your mission has succeeded beyond all of our imaginations."
"It seems you all know," Laufey snorted, scanning over his allies surrounding him. As expected, besides Malekith who spoke to him at the beginning, and Hela who helped him revive, even Cynder and Angel Queen were present.
Of course, Angel Queen was still in the glass orb, obviously, she had not yet returned to the embrace of the World Tree.
"Such a big commotion in Midgard, it's hard not to notice," Flame Queen Cynder sat casually on the soil slope. "So, did you do something? How could the Great Serpent suddenly revive?"
While moving his new body, Laufey told everyone what had happened. To be honest, if it hadn't already happened, he would have found it hard to believe that such a coincidence could happen in the world.
Malekith couldn't help but put his hand to his forehead after listening, but from the corner of his mouth that turned upwards, it was not difficult to see that he should be happy at this time. "If everything could be as unexpected as this event, I wouldn't dislike this method of disrupting the plan at all."
Hela's corner of her mouth also couldn't help but turn upwards. She rarely used a happy tone and said, "Then we should change our strategy now. Let's contact the Great Serpent first. Our interests are aligned, and I believe he won't refuse our help."
"If the Great Serpent is willing to cooperate with us, then we can proceed according to my next policy," Malekith opening attracted everyone's gaze present. "Thor, we need to eliminate him."
"Why?" Cynder looked puzzlement. "Isn't it better to let him and the Great Serpent perish together?"
"Wrong, dear Queen," Malekith waved his index finger. "Remember what the Prophecy said? Odin's Child, the Asgard Crown Prince, will kill the Great Serpent, and finally, he will die after taking nine steps."
"What's wrong?" Cynder frowned. "Why don't you speak more plainly?"
"I was just about to say, don't worry, Queen," Malekith bowed slightly. "The language only said that Odin's Child would kill the Great Serpent, but it didn't directly say which Child. This means that as long as Thor is not the Asgard Crown Prince, then he can escape this Curse."
"I see," Cynder suddenly understood. "Are you afraid that Thor will escape because of this?"
"Thor wouldn't do that," Malekith shook his head. "I have to admit that he is a noble person, noble to the point of disgusting me. He wouldn't do something like letting his brothers die for him to save his own life."
"The reason I want you to kill Thor is because we need the person in the Prophecy to be replaced."
