Chapter 759 Source of Fear - Sky Hammer Venerable
"Cough cough!"
Bruce struggled to climb up from the debris. He had been conducting an experiment until just now, but a sudden loud noise and the subsequent tremor startled him greatly.
Just as the saying goes, Bruce was scared out of his wits. He lost his grip on the beaker in his hand, and it smashed onto the lab table. He himself fell backward and was buried under a pile of files.
Ignoring the pain in his body, Bruce hurriedly looked up at his experiment achievement. As expected, the lab table had already overturned, not to mention the precision instruments and chemicals on it.
At this moment, the pain in Bruce's heart surpassed the pain in his body. The most precious material inside was not those chemicals or instruments, but the blood of the Hulk that he had secretly kept.
Was it fate, or was he simply unwilling to give up? Back when the military commissioned him and Howard to analyze the Hulk, he secretly drew a tube of blood and kept it. In the days that followed, he had been secretly researching this power in his spare time.
Bruce desperately wanted to know why the Super-Soldier Serum had exceeded his expectations and turned into that terrifying form, but now it seemed that all of this had become a pipe dream. The contaminated blood no longer had research value.
"Cough cough!" Bruce covered his mouth. He then realized that he had been coughing quite frequently. Could it be that his injuries were actually very serious? It seemed he would have to go to the hospital tomorrow.
Bruce wanted to open the window to get some fresh air, so he walked to the window, but found that a smoking pit had appeared in the open area outside the window. It seemed that this was the true identity of the earthquake.
"What is that thing?" Bruce didn't think much and hurriedly ran outside the house. Perhaps because he was too anxious, Bruce completely failed to notice that he was moving with incredible speed at this moment, completely unlike an injured person.
Strangely, Bruce quickly ran outside the house. In a few steps, he arrived at the edge of the pit. Because he was moving too fast, Bruce, who hadn't yet gotten used to it, couldn't stop in time and tumbled into the pit.
"Ouch!" Bruce cried out in pain, rubbed his head, and stood up. He felt that he had bumped into something particularly hard, and even the protective suit helmet he was wearing on his head was cracked.
Bruce's face changed color when he looked at the thing he had bumped into, because this thing was completely different from what he had imagined. It was not a meteor or satellite fragment or anything like that, but a hammer with a peculiar shape.
At the end of the metal hammer handle, there was a hollow ring. The hammer handle, which was as long as a human, was inserted into a strangely shaped hammerhead. This hammerhead looked like a combination of a triangular body and a trapezoidal body, and it was strange no matter how you looked at it.
"What is this thing?" Bruce muttered to himself. Just as he was about to let his thought wander and consider it, he froze, because he heard a strange sound.
"Pick up the hammer, and I will grant you the power you deserve."
As if possessed by a ghost, Bruce actually reached out his hand towards the hammer handle. When he came back to his senses, his right hand was already gripping the hammer handle.
"What? Uh!" A surging power erupted from the hammer, and soon swept through Bruce's entire body. This energy violently poured into his slender body, causing him immense pain.
"Oh?" That sound rang out again, and the Serpent, thousands of miles away, revealed a hint of surprise.
"There is a peculiar power within your body, but it is merely a seed, and it seems newly acquired. Since that's the case, allow me to assist you."
"Ahhhhhhh!" Bruce screamed miserably. At the same time, his body began to expand rapidly, like a balloon being filled with water. Simultaneously, his body was gradually turning green.
Such things were happening in six other locations tonight.
…
Howard, who was working overtime in Stark Tower, vigilantly watched the object that had fallen from the sky not far in front of him. It was a hammer that appeared to be made of stone, but Howard was not so naive.
Because the artificial intelligence integrated into his armor informed him that it could not analyze the material of the hammer before him. Furthermore, he doubted that stone could penetrate Stark Tower's protection.
Howard scanned for a long time but couldn't find an answer. So, relying on the fact that his armor could provide radiation isolation, he actually flew over to the hammer. He intended to move this hammer to his laboratory, where he could devise a method to analyze it.
So he reached out his hand towards the hammer.
…
Magneto warily observed the pit before him. A chain mace lay quietly in the center of the pit. However, this chain mace was far too large for humans. It looked more like a custom-made art piece.
Just staring at it wouldn't solve anything. It would be better to take the chain mace back and have Hank examine it.
Thinking this, Magneto raised his hand, aimed it at the chain mace, and then grasped...
…
"What's going on?" MODOK questioned his subordinate. "What was that tremor just now?"
"Report Lord MODOK, according to the message received, the tremor originated from B1 Zone. Something fell from the sky and crashed there."
MODOK widened his eyes and asked, "What thing? Is it an enemy attack?"
The subordinate reported, "The thing that fell is something resembling a hammer. It's currently unclear whether it's an enemy attack."
"What thing?" MODOK suspected he had misheard. "A hammer? Broke through the base's defense?"
Before the subordinate could respond, the communicator in his hand rang. At Lord MODOK's command, the subordinate answered the communicator. Screams and gunshot sounds erupted from the communicator.
"Request support! Request support! Experiment γ1 containment breached! Experiment γ1 is out of control!"
…
"Huff~" The Serpent gently exhaled foul air. The Sky Hammers had been successively lifted by those deemed worthy. Fear had begun to spread, and he believed it wouldn't be long before he returned to his peak power.
"Father." Loki, holding a Sky Hammer, stood behind the Serpent. "You look much better than before."
"Fear is spreading, and my power is returning." The Serpent lowered his head and observed his current appearance in the reflection of the tree.
His hair had begun to turn from white to black, and the wrinkles on his face had lessened considerably. The hand holding the cane also regained some strength. While it was not comparable to his peak, at least he no longer felt pain.
"The feeling of power draining from the body bit by bit is truly painful, Skadi." The Serpent's gaze was gloomy. "I hope to let my younger brother taste this as well. After all, good stuff should be shared among brothers, shouldn't it?"
"Your will, Father." Loki knelt on one knee, pledging his allegiance to the Serpent.
