Chapter 682: The Aftermath of a Karmic Debt
Thor was brave and fearless on the Battlefield. Whether facing Frost Giant, various Magical Beast, or Dark Elf, no enemy could instill Fear in him.
However, when he returned in triumph, facing Loki's confession of love, Thor was frightened as if he had de-aged by centuries, just like the first time Loki had pranked him.
That day, Asgard did not welcome back its victorious Prince, but his War Vehicle did return as scheduled, though it carried Loki instead of Thor.
Yes, Thor was so scared that he abandoned his War Vehicle and flew away wielding his Hammer. Not as swift as his brother in Flight, the helpless Loki could only drive the abandoned War Vehicle back to Asgard.
The Asgardians were puzzled as to why the one returning on the War Vehicle was not the glorious Thor, but the Little Princess Loki, who had been quiet for centuries and hadn't caused Trouble for anyone.
Perhaps Loki had pranked him again on Thor's way back, but this seemed off. Thor was returning with great merit from the Battlefield, and the martial Asgardians always showed courtesy to those returning to Asgard City with such honors.
Moreover, Thor was not just a Prince, but the designated Crown Prince. The people of Asgard City were all prepared to line the streets and welcome this future great ruler.
Yet now Loki had done such a thing, which was extremely politically incorrect in the eyes of the Asgardians. Had it been anyone else, they would have been scorned by the entire city and likely challenged to a Duel by many.
But Loki was royalty after all, so this matter was not for ordinary Civilians to handle. However, while Physical Body Damage was out of the question, the Asgardians still expressed their disapproval by booing Loki.
From the City Gate to Asgard, everyone along the way booed Loki. The uproar was immense, enough to make an ordinary Girl burst into tears, but Loki simply ignored it.
After a long period of solitude, Loki had long since determined who mattered most to her. No matter what these Outsiders did, they could not Damage her. Mere noise was easily dismissed with a bit of Silence Magic.
The Main Figure was yet to come. Back in Asgard, the Rage from her Father Odin did make Loki slightly, just slightly, afraid. Even without Queen Frigga by her side to offer Protection, Loki could endure it (referring to being tearful and embraced by Frigga).
However, Loki had indeed gone too far this time. Even Frigga couldn't help but express some disapproval. Consequently, they both began to wonder if Loki actually disliked Thor. And so, the old couple played the Aggressive Role and the Gentle Role, leaving the frightened Loki utterly bewildered.
And just like that, under the older generation's tag-team interrogation, the young Loki confessed everything in detail. Now it was the old couple's turn to be dumbfounded.
Odin was delighted. He had originally taken Loki in to foster eternal friendship between Asgard and Jotunheim. He had initially intended to use Family bonds to forge this connection, but now an even more effective Method had emerged.
What was originally a rather complicated Business had suddenly turned into a game of auto chess? Could such a fortunate turn of events really be possible?
Compared to the boisterous Odin, Frigga was more thoughtful. She knew that Thor and Loki were not true siblings, but Loki and Thor, being of the Younger generation, were unaware of this. Otherwise, Thor wouldn't have been so terrified as to flee.
Frigga worried that some Problem might arise in Loki's Heart and wanted to offer psychological guidance, but Odin stopped her. After all, this matter was beneficial for the entire Nine Realms.
Odin understood Frigga's Worry. Moreover, according to Loki, Thor would not accept such a relationship. Therefore, Odin promised that he would reveal their Identities to them both when the Opportunity was right.
Frigga remained skeptical of her husband's assurance, but she refrained from saying more and could only hope that day would come quickly.
Then, centuries passed. Thor finally plucked up the courage to prepare to return Home, only to be intercepted by Loki again halfway there. And just like last Time, Thor fled once more.
For the next millennium or two, this pattern repeated. This resulted in Odin never finding an Opportunity when both were present at the same Time. He advised Loki to be patient, but she simply wouldn't listen. Each Time, she took the initiative, only to suffer a crushing defeat.
Eventually, Odin grew weary of it and simply washed his hands of the matter. Good advice is wasted on a stubborn Ghost. "Your Father wants to help you find happiness, yet you keep pulling these stunts. I reckon you've hit your rebellious phase."
Odin decided to let things run their course. In any case, the Asgardian Gods had long Lifespans. He believed that Time would eventually present him with an Opportunity to reveal the Truth. Surely these two Children wouldn't drag him to his Death, would they?
And now, wasn't this a perfect Opportunity? Due to the search for Yang Le, by various Coincidence, Thor and Loki were both in Asgard. Next, as soon as Yang Le and Gwen, these two Guests, were gone, Odin could reveal this royal secret History.
Despite the multitude of thoughts in his Heart, Odin and Queen Frigga maintained impassive Faces, still warmly hosting Yang Le and Gwen as Guests. With Outsiders present, Loki also restrained herself considerably and refrained from any Action that might frighten Thor.
With Loki remaining passive for a long Time, Thor gradually lowered his guard and began to exchange toasts with Yang Le. Of course, knowing in advance that Yang Le didn't enjoy strong Wine, Yang Le's Cup was filled with low-alcohol Fruit Wine, considered a Child's beverage in Asgard.
For a while, the atmosphere at the Dining Table was quite lively, though it was likely that only Yang Le and Gwen, as Guests, were truly and wholeheartedly focused on the meal.
Both Yang Le and Gwen were very satisfied with this meal. Asgardian Cuisine wasn't particularly refined. Like the Asgardian spirit, it emphasized heartiness, with each portion being generous.
After all, the Asgardians valued martial prowess. Despite Frigga's refined and courteous demeanor, she was still a formidable Character capable of wielding a Greatsword the size of a City Gate. Thanks to such powerful Physique, Asgardians were all hearty eaters.
These Dishes, designed to satisfy the needs of their Tribesmen, naturally had to be large and filling. But that wasn't the main point. The most crucial aspect was that many of the Ingredients used in these Dishes were unfamiliar to both Yang Le and Gwen.
The Norse Mythology of the Marvel Universe was written by the Asgardians. Therefore, the Creatures from Mythology naturally existed in Asgard as well, such as Dragons and Four-Horned Goats, all of which were part of the Asgardian diet.
Although the ordinary Residents living in Asgard City generally didn't go to the Battlefield, they were still brave and martial. To showcase their Martial Arts without disrupting harmony, Hunting was naturally a good Choice.
And the Animals hunted were naturally not wasted, but all brought to the Asgardian Dining Table.
